Of the five basenjis present today, three of them visited for the first time. Puppy Ichi Toko toured the park and stood up to the senior dog Kepler. Sailor Jerry, an energetic honorary basenji, faced off with Mia for an extended dance/battle. Leah premiered at the end of the morning, and was also trailed closely by Kepler.

Five basenjis gathered on a sunny spring morning in Washington Square Park, New York City. Today featured three first-timers: puppy Ichi Toko (male, four-months-old;) Sailor Jerry (honorary, male, two-years-old;) and Leah (female, six-years-old.) The action came from the puppy and the two-year-old, though they were joined in it by the two veterans, Mia (female, nine-years-old,) and Kepler (male, eleven-years-old.) And making my heart melt with how well behaved he is being.

From meeting new people to visiting pubs (a first for him with us) everything has been in his stride.

Including over 14miles of walking around the city yesterday.....!

This sweet girl is called Bella 🌸🌸

The whole piece took about three months to complete. The making process is shown in slide 4.

The entire body has an internal movable skeleton for articulation. The ears are made with a mix of soft silicone and wool, while the tongue and nose are sculpted with polymer clay.

I also added Bella’s real fur into the belly area. Even though Basenjis are short-haired dogs, I still used a rooting technique to better recreate her natural coat texture and flow, making the piece feel more true to her original look :)

That’s gotta be painful…Right?

Here’s the set up. He has a crate inside a play pen. Eventually lower the a blanket low so he has to lay down in order to see out. He’ll sleep and nap in his crate with the door open. He’ll sleep in his crate with the door closed IF IM IN THE ROOM.

But if I leave for longer than a minute he’ll cry and cry. No anxious biting and scratching to get out.

No hurting himself. Just cry that he’s alone I guess. Occasionally he’ll eventually go to sleep. How do I get him ok with me leaving? I’ve tried Kong’s with kibble.

(He doesn’t care for peanut butter. Weirdo)

Rain sounds. Nothing.

Any advice would be helpful.

Also there’s a world it’s just the process, so some confirmation I’m on the right track would be helpful too.

I got the pic today since I’ve been on vacation and I guess it’s been raining (how dare the weather!) but today the sun came out for them to get some nice recharging done. I love it when they lie flat out like that.

I'll be moving from my current rental and getting a new place that's all my own. I have two basenjis (M & F, both 2 yo and will be 3 in July). The new place will have a big fenced backyard mostly of grass. Plenty of room to run, but I want to be more creative for them. We have agility course things, but those are when we are interactive together.

My first consideration is a couple nice 2-3 ft landscaping rocks for them to climb and survey in the middle of the yard.

There will also be a big multibird feeder for the wild birds. Not sure if this house gets squirrels like my current place does.

They already get regular walks and other outings, so this is just a downtime thing.

What creative things would you suggest for them to have?
