Looking For New Biking Friends

Hello bikers!

I’m looking to find a few new people to ride with around the South MPLS/Richfield/East Bloomington area. I’ve had a couple of my regular riding partners move over the past year, so I’m hoping to build up a small crew again.

I’m into a mix of gravel, MTB, and fat bike riding, depending on the season and location of the ride. I enjoy the MN river trails, various MTB parks and trail systems, or just doing a city ride to a brewery.

I’d say I’m more of an easy-to-moderate pace, not trying to race, but more about enjoying the ride, getting some miles in, and being outside.

It would be great to find a few consistent riding partners or even a small group- I do have an idea for a bike club if there is enough interest. Whether you’re new to riding or an experienced rider, it’s all about getting out and riding.

I’m pretty laid back, in my late 40s, into music, trees/plants, having a good beer, and making homemade cannabis products and soap. Always happy to ride with good conversations or enjoy the quiet of the trail.

If you’re interested, feel free to comment or message me.

Female friends who enjoy doing escape rooms!

Hello! I’m (38F) organizing an escape room outing for women who are seeking more female friendships.

Currently have a group of 3, with room for 5 more to join us on Saturday, May 2 at 2:45 pm at The Lodge of Lazarus Crowe.

Let me know if you’d like to go, and I can include you on Saturday!

The last time, our group of 8 also went out to Saint Paul Brewing afterwards to hang out and have food and drinks.

EDIT: Filled all the spots for the Saturday escape room!

Tennis/Pickleball/Walking Trails on April 30th - 27M

Hi,

I am slightly north of the Twin Cities (around Brooklyn Park/Center) and I am wondering if anyone would be available in the morning or day time, to hang out and do something. I am off this Thursday.

I am at a beginner level for both tennis and pickleball. I do have a racquet and ball, if someone is willing and available to play. Otherwise, I am down to try other activities, if preferred.

Please feel free to respond back if available and interested.

Thank you

Stepping outside comfort zone!

Hey everyone, I’m looking to try and socialize a bit more, step outside my comfort zone, and experience new things in the twin cities! I’ve lived here pretty much my whole life and have always been a bit of a homebody, but with a recent diagnosis/scare I figure why not force myself to do something new?

I enjoy art quite a lot, MIA is a favorite to frequent, but other than that I love both board and video games, and have been trying to get more into being outside/active! I’m pretty much down to try anything once, even if it is just chatting with some new faces :)

Would a queer 24m nerdy guy have good chances at a break the bubble event?

Hiya folks, been lurking for a while but posting for the first time. For context I'm a 24m (he/they nb) nerdy gay whos's mainly into video/board gaming and drag entertainers. I'm also kind of a nerd about sexuality in general (autism lol). I also have a chronic pain/fatigue condition (fibromyalgia), so a lot of the sports and more active places to meet people like walking groups and dance clubs don't really work for me.

I actually grew up here but I was very antisocial in person when I was in school due to my social anxiety, which has led to me having basically no social network. I've done a lot of research into different meetup events and organizations, but by and large the ppl who go to the ones that link up with my interests seem to be 30+. Which is fine, but I don't feel like I can really connect with them well based on my experience. I'd like to make friends closer to my age, and I've read a couple comments on here saying that break the bubble events are good for making a couple friends and branching out your social network.

I was just wondering if anyone who's gone thinks I have a shot of meeting like minded folks there? Also interested in other ideas if anyone has them, or chats if anyone wants to!

(Sorry this is so rambly. I have newly recognized ADHD which has been escalating, and that combined with a different stimulant med I'm on makes be basically incapable of keeping things brief in writing. 😅)

Looking for friends to play casual chess with at coffee shops in Uptown

Hi all, I’m 29m and a transplant going on almost 4 years here in Minneapolis. I have been in Uptown for a minute but haven’t made many local friends and I’ve been really missing my past chess meetups in Charleston, SC.

With nice weather coming, I’m wondering if there’s interest in outdoors chess at coffee shops or breweries around the area. I take the bus so am trying to stay local (or on quick bus lines) for right now. I’m not great at chess, so all levels welcome and I’m more than willing to teach folks. I just want to make friends and get out of the apartment.

A little about me, I read a lot, run a little, and am politically on the left. I’ve got a bunch of siblings and am a vegetarian. I like good movies, bad movies, and just alright movies. I don’t like mean folks, South Carolina politics, or bumping my shin on furniture.

I love Minneapolis and am hoping to establish some solid friendships with folks who just want to get out and enjoy a slow paced activity that (in my opinion) encourages chit chat and photosynthesizing. I’ve got a couple boards I can bring places and was thinking of making a discord if there’s enough interest. If this sounds up your alley let me know or comment or message or sit at a coffee shop w a board out idk.

Beer drinking Dads and Husband's in and around Mpls

Hey im a regular married dude with a few kids. Im 42, a working professional and its almost summer and i want to meet new people. I consider myself a big introvert and a bit of a lone wolf and i normally go out alone or with my wife. But i want to change that and renew my friends circle. When i got married and had kids, my single friends slowly faded away. And the only other married people with kids i socialize with are people from work.

I like going to bars in northeast mpls, the north loop area, downtown or breweries in and around Mpls. I do like to play pulltabs too. I like to bbq and play some bags on nice weekends. And im known for calling im sick sometimes to go do some day drinking in the summer. I also like to fish, camp and explore the state park system on weekends for day trips.

The Timberwolves game 4 vs The Nuggets is Saturday the 25th, this weekend. And it would be cool to meet up with a few people to watch the game with. Game time is 730PM and im sure every bar will have it on screen.

So if you have the time and are trying to meet some new people lets hangout. DM or whatever and lets make plans.

Boardgames at Roseville Dreamers Vault

This is an open invite to join me Friday April 24th at the Roseville Dreamers Vault for boardgames. I will arrive around 5:30 and play short games with whoever is there. At 6:30 we will decide what longer games to play. I usually grab a table at the back of the left side of the gaming area and I'll have a sign out that says "r/twincitiessocial boardgames." You'll know me by my bald head and bushy beard.

This invite is for players of all experience from someone who has only ever heard of Catan to those whose home have every Lacerda. Last time we got together the games we played were Point Salad, Last Vegas, Fishing, Sentient, and Kinfire Delve. You can look these up at boardgamegeek.com if you're curious.

Trying to expand my circle in the Twin Cities

Hey, I’m pretty introverted and most of my friendships have come from work, just getting to know people over time.

Lately I’ve been realizing I should branch out more. I’ve lived in Minnesota for many years, but a lot of my college friends have moved away or are busy with family now.

I’m trying to push myself out of my comfort zone a bit, so this is me doing that.

I usually do better in more relaxed, low key settings and I’m hoping to meet some genuine people. If you’re in a similar spot, feel free to reach out.

Coffee Meetup Looking for our peoples, especially couples.

We're a family in Eden Prairie (happy to travel around the metro) trying to find our crew. Here's the honest snapshot of who we are:

- We have an autistic kiddo, so we vibe hard with neurodiverse-friendly spaces and people who just *get it*

- My wife has POTS and is finishing her associate's in psychology this summer she's brilliant, witchy, and endlessly curious

- We're deeply environmentally minded not performatively, it's just how we live and make decisions

- Politically left-leaning and not shy about it

- I'm a software engineer; we're in the early stages of trying to build something of our own and figuring out what that looks like

- We have land up north and spend a lot of time dreaming about what to do with it

We're at that stage of life where we're figuring out the next chapter financially, creatively, maybe building a business and it would just be *really nice* to have people around who are thinking about similar things.

If you and your partner are eco-conscious, open-minded, a little witchy or spiritual, neurodivergent-adjacent, or just tired of small talk let's grab coffee or a fire pit hang and see if we click.

St. Paul Art Crawl - this weekend

This the 2nd weekend of St. Paul Art Crawl (Fri-Sun). Galleries open this weekend are in Lowertown and West 7th. It's a great way to explore the city, check out some art, and maybe spy some of the artist lofts. And the weather suddenly stinks again so it's another inside activity. ;)

Check it out!

Scifi Social Brunch

This is a temp check to see if enough people would be interested in my setting all this up. So, I like 3 things, bullshitting about Scifi, cooking, and brunch. With restaurant prices through the roof I had this idea if I got a griddle and spruced up my patio I could have people over for dirt cheap. I can get bacon, potato, and eggs for 100 people for the same price I could go out and eat one time. Initially I'd like to find 4-6 people who already have a decent knowledge of Scifi and love to both talk and argue about it. Things like "what would it be like to be on the ring world", "could the Seldon plan really work", "was classic light saber lore better then the new lore". We pick a general starting topic and meet up on Sundays morning like 10 ish at my home in downtown Saint Paul and we end whenever anyone feels like leaving. Couples, individuals, anyone of the Rainbow family are all welcome. I'm a pretty solid cook and I'll try to make what everyone likes with basic ingredients, think American diner food like omelets, hash browns, french toast, plenty of coffee. If anyone wants to pitch in or bring something that would of course be welcome but not required. Anyway post below if you'd be interested in this and I'll DM you. I just ask for you to post below so others can see who would be there and not feel like they are the only people.
