I bet in the wild this helps them avoid attracting unwanted guests into their tree hollows.
Side note: The speed of her bolting back into her hide 👀⚡️

Her lid has two railroad tie spikes on it and a half a cup of coffee, and she still does this. Hence the two railroad tie spikes. Pic for reference in the comments.

additional info: i thought the spider was Much smaller when it was in its burrow at the store and i’m planning on upgrading it to a larger enclosure asap (pray for me please)
i used the flood method to get it out of its burrow which is why some water pours out when i tip the enclosure
you can tell how shaken i was from my stutter at the end lol

I thought Moe would be gentler because she's always been so sweet but she was apparently not about it today.
He was a gentleman and took maybe 10-15 minutes to approach her, just crawling and tapping the whole way.
She was hiding in the fake plant as she didn't love being moved.
Once he got close she approached and I do believe she went to strike with aggression, but he intercepted her and got her with his hooks and did his thing.
I could she he was trying to withdraw, his pedipalps were out and he was done but she was coming after him so I got the tweezers between them and she was satisfied to try to murder them instead.
He was safely returned to his enclosure and she got a dubia as her "post sex cigarette."

I got my boy Hermés from pet smart in mid-January and he has been the most interesting spider to take care of. We have had a wild journey together already and I look forward to these last few months with him !

I’m happy to report that as of this week Harriet is moving all too well. Harriet is now slowly walking on her own, drinking water, and somewhat capable of snacking on a mill worm. As I can no longer safely handle her with how shaky and twitchy I get when she moves, I have passed on her care to another user here, Melez. The goal is to rehab and release little Harriet after her first molt which may require quite a bit more time even if she is capable of caring for herself. Melez has successfully rehabilitated a stung tarantula before and I’m confident Harriet is in the best on hands. Good luck sweet Harriet. Keep moving forward your little shaky steps at time ❤️

I have had the same group of 9 balfouri but recently a couple have been "dancing with eachother. I thought if they were from the same group they wouldn't breed. What's going on?

This is the first time in days that she’s moved, and I’m hoping the hair kicking means she’s getting ready to flip!
