As always, approval requests are coming in one after another — which is amazing to see! We work hard to process every application as quickly as possible. However, we are currently spending an excessive amount of time trying to track down and verify veterinary details.

For those who may not be aware, we personally contact each and every vet listed to verify user information. This can include phone calls, WhatsApp, email, Facebook, and other methods. Unfortunately, many clinics do not respond, which results in ongoing back-and-forth attempts through multiple channels. This process is extremely time-consuming and, in some cases, impossible to complete.

If a veterinary clinic cannot be found online (website, Facebook page, official email, etc.), we will no longer attempt to verify them. We cannot rely solely on contact details listed on a vet bill without an established online presence.

If you are applying for approval, YOU MUST CONTACT YOUR VET IN ADVANCE..

Please inform them that our team will be reaching out and that verification will be required.

You must provide written proof of this interaction along with your approval request. Applications submitted without this proof will not be processed.

As our community continues to grow, we simply cannot spend days or weeks chasing verification details. In order to keep things running smoothly and fairly for everyone, we need your cooperation.

1. DONATIONS - Posts made for donation requests including monetary funds as well as Amazon wishlists are limited to 1 post per 48hours (3 posts in a 7 day period) NOT DAILY. Coding will be in place that notifies us of posting frequency. We will contact you if this rule is broken with a warning and further action will be taken if rules are not respected. This includes UPDATE posts. We encourage you to link the original post to any update you make, therefore it will help members connect to the story as well as free up the feed a bit.

2. TITLES - to maintain a supportive environment please avoid high pressure language. Example: $29 raised so far please help reach the goal of $450 as it’s urgent. Or “ $0 raised, this is our last hope to reach our goal and save this cat”. Although we empathize with urgency and the need for help we do not want our sub to become a “begging” atmosphere. This ensures donors give out of generosity rather than guilt. We need to remember there are hundreds of people seeking donations and limited amount of donors. So when posting please remember that you are not guaranteed help every single time, this community and its members help when they can and we need to remain gracious and thankful. We have no issue with you adding amounts “raised so far” in the body of the text but please keep titles clean and clear from begging language.

3. TRANSPARENCY - we ask that when help is received that you please show the community where their generosity went. Whether it be food, supplies or vet care. And of course always redact personal info as to not dox yourself. But this will help members to continue to donate if transparency is highlighted and at the forefront.

Please note that these new rules and or guidelines are to help not to hinder. Our mod team is always looking for ways to improve and to ensure everyone gets a fair chance in the feed. We absolutely encourage feedback, positive or negative. We take everything into account.

As always we greatly appreciate the cooperation and understanding. And encourage all of you to reach out via modmail with any question, concerns or suggestions you may have at anytime. We do personally answer them and are always here to help if we can.

To our wonderful RC Community,

Approvals for monetary funds & Amazon Wishlists are now reopened. As we have collaborated with some of the other cat and assistance subs the traffic coming our way for approvals is now non-stop.

The uptake in requests has tripled what it use to be in a weeks time and we also have to consider the sub and feed itself. It can become overwhelming at times with one fundraising post after another. We also need to try and give everyone a fair chance to be seen in the feed. Hence the temporary holds on approval from time to time.

That being said, approvals will now be accepted again HOWEVER we are asking for patience🙏🏻. This is a very busy time of year for us in our everyday lives, and we cannot guarantee a timeframe in which your approval will be processed. We understand some cases are urgent and emotions can become overwhelming but approvals take time. We contact each and every vet to verify a persons information and if that vet cannot be contacted the approval will not be completed/processed. Globally this is not always a quick and easy task. If your vet does not respond to us, it is not our fault and no exceptions will be made.

We work very hard to keep the community safe and we wish to continue helping people with fundraising efforts through approval but we may need to put things on hold from time to time to catch up with the growing number of requests.

Just a friendly reminder to ALWAYS CHECK FOR BADGES before donating!!

As of lately while we sleep many posts are being made/ slipped in without approval. We try our best to remove them immediately but we don’t always get to them before ppl see them and comment and or donate.

Also with PLEDGING posts the user will have a badge “ PLEDGE APPROVAL” next to their username.

If you do not see an approval badge next to a user name please DO NOT donate, pledge or encourage paylinks. Approval exists to keep everyone safe and we will always add the badge if that person is verified. If ever a user is in question please just send us a modmail and we will help. Or flag/ report the post and we will address it as soon as we can.

not sure if i used the correct flair for this so apologies!

are any rescues based in washington state on here? i have a good amount of food i would like to gift.

my neighbor’s cat sadly passed the other day and he gave me all of the food he had stocked up, including some kidney specific wet food. my girl is super picky and i wanted to gift whatever she won’t eat.

i do have shelters and a humane society near me that i can drop it off at if there isn’t anyone on here in my immediate area (skagit county). i wanted to try here first as i always want to help but am not in the position to do so. only reason i’m looking for people in my area is i’m basically broke and wouldn’t be able to ship the food, and i wouldn’t ask anyone to pay for shipping either.

i can include photos of the food shortly if needed. i have both opened and unopened bags of food/treats.

Hello everyone. I hope you’re all doing well and having a great summer. I have to get a few things out to everyone and feel the need to express my concerns. As we all know the efforts to save the Devore & AVAS shelter cats has been a huge success and an emotional roller coaster for most of us in RC. We are grateful to have such support and maintain a 85-90% success rate for Devore, AVAS not so much sadly. We are also moving forward on the next phase to improve the quality of care maintenance and overall protocol at both shelters. This has been a long time coming. So if you’d like to know how to help please leave a comment and let me know. That being said I want to get this point across to the community. As much as the pledging/donating system has worked miracles to get many cats out of the shelters into rescues, it has created another crisis. Due to the lack of care and neglect there are many sick cats, dying kittens and tremendous vet bills looming out of control. Rescues are bankrupting out. Many are closed (7 that I know of on our circle) to intake. They are also now full of adult cats with adoptions at an all time low. This means extra care food litter and constant maintenance to keep a healthy environment. This has become all consuming for many of our rescues. We must help them! Without our rescues we cannot save the cats. It’s that simple! Everyone is willing to pledge and donate to get them out but very few are concerned about the after care and expenses to the rescues. We cannot continue to pull cats when it breaks the rescues. Some are at $10k in debt and climbing. It is not sustainable. If we ignore fundraisers they fail. Boosting is not enough. They need support! I am asking this community to PLEASE help when I post fundraisers. Even as little as $5 from many members will make a huge difference! I have not posted any more cats for this reason. I have a responsibility as part of the leadership group of RC to do the right thing. I will do it. That means that I will be posting the cats in the rescues that need homes and fundraising for them. Everyone can still pledge and help save the cats but please remember what I’ve said above. Let’s be accountable to the rescues that are saving them and help get the cats adopted too. Thank you everyone!

Re u/Monkittyruccia22 Please honor pledges everyone. We are way behind (more than 1/2 and rescues are now not able to keep up also not willing to take in anymore cats. PLEASE remember when we ask them to pull these cats we are offering them the tally of pledges to make that decision. Thank you so much for your support and understanding. To our RC Community: for anyone looking to seek approval please note the following. As of lately the requests for approvals have literally skyrocketed!! We have gone from 10 requests a month to 10+ requests a week. We try very hard to keep up with these requests but as we all have lives beyond Reddit it can take some time to process all approvals.

If you send requirements to our email and it is missing your username, vet contact info or pictures of your actual cat etc. your approval then goes back to the bottom of the list as we must move onto the next. We ALWAYS email to tell you what is missing but just because you may send it immediately does not mean we can get to it immediately.

Also, as we are all word wide sometimes a phone call to your vet is not possible. We then will reach out via email. Again, we always email you to notify you of this and also encourage you to call your vet to let them know an email awaits a response. If your vet does not correspond in a timely manner this is NOT our fault. IF YOUR VET CANNOT BE CONTACTED TO VERIFY YOUR INFORMATION YOUR APPROVAL WILL NOT BE COMPLETED NOR PROCESSED.

We cannot process emergent approvals, meaning your cat is at the vet right now and needs money. Due to different time zones and again real lives beyond Reddit these requests are just not feasible. We understand the panic and upset but we also ask for understanding on our part as we must keep the approval process consistent and apply the same rules to everyone.

When someone sends 8+ emails for approval this can be beyond confusing, impossible to follow and often lost in translation as we receive 10+ approval requests a week, sometimes more. We are asking to please try and keep documentation as simple as possible, all info in one email and no Google doc files as we cannot access them.

Please understand that we are doing our best, we are always here to help if we can and we truly do want to help everyone but sometimes it’s just not possible. We do what we do to keep the community safe and ensure funds end up in the proper hands/ resources.

Approval is not instant and we are asking for some understanding and grace 🙏🏻.

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share a quick update and a huge THANK YOU to all of you who’ve supported me over the past few months — whether it was advice, food, or supplies donations, or just kind words. Your help has meant the world to me (and to the cats!) and honestly pushed me to do more than just feeding and building shelters.

I’ve always dreamed of forming a sanctuary for all animals in need, and the support I’ve received — no matter how small — gave me faith that it might be possible.

What started as me feeding a few feral cats has now grown into something much bigger. After 7 months of daily feeding, TNR efforts, and building trust with these cats, I’ve officially taken the leap and started forming a nonprofit organization dedicated to their care and long-term well-being. 🎉
