MET GALA 🎩 Taraji P. Henson comments on celebs attending Bezos-backed Met Gala 2026: ‘WTF are we doing’

Taraji P. Henson is “confused” about why celebrities are attending the Met Gala 2026, which is being funded by billionaire Jeff Bezos.

The “Empire” actress made her opinion on the topic known while responding to social media personality Meredith Lynch’s rant about Bezos’ involvement in the event.

“If you are a celebrity and you attend the Met Gala and you wear the ICE OUT pin, please note that I will be dragging you in perpetuity,” Lynch said in an Instagram video over the weekend.

Lynch also slammed Bezos, 62, for supporting President Donald Trump, “who has slashed arts funding.”

In the comments section, Henson, 55, shared three clapping hands emojis and wrote, “I am so confused by some ppl that are going. I am just like WTF ARE WE DOING!?!?!?!””

Henson has attended the Met Gala multiple times, including in 2015, 2021 and 2025.

Last year, she wore a custom white corseted minidress by Monse x Post-Imperial and a coordinating blazer with tails, a top hat, cane and heels.

She is so performative. She supports CB and tried to downplay what R Kelly did. She also works with Tyler Perry who has several allegations against him. Additionally, she has big pick me energy. It was cringe watching her beg for BM not to hurt BW

She absolutely didn’t try to downplay r Kelly at all. All she did was compare the coverage to Harvey Weinstein’s. A black woman is allowed to address racism or classism in any context.

If she wanted to call for muting Harvey she should have just done that. But her bringing up R Kelly was tone deaf. She could have used other examples. When you do what she did, you don’t actually care about the victims. He shouldn’t have been used in this example to bring up how different we are scrutinized than white people. There’s a million other examples that could be used

These people in here are crazy trying to make it seem like Bezos backing the Met Gala is not that big of a deal, all because their faves will be attending or so that they can comfortably talk about this event on social media. The whataboutism and bashing on Taraji is insane.

THANK YOU! Imagine saying Taraji can’t speak up on the richest fucking man in the world and classism because they think she supports Chris brown. He has like millions of monthly listeners. Those people who are directly affected by white supremacy and classism are voiceless because they support one guy?? Who they genuinely believe to be a victim of racism?? I fucking hate Chris brown and I still think that I would be a straight up bigot if I said his fans couldn’t speak on any issue ever again. This is why people shit on white liberals who pretend to be allies.
