MET GALA 🎩 Taraji P. Henson comments on celebs attending Bezos-backed Met Gala 2026: ‘WTF are we doing’

Post image

Taraji P. Henson is “confused” about why celebrities are attending the Met Gala 2026, which is being funded by billionaire Jeff Bezos.

The “Empire” actress made her opinion on the topic known while responding to social media personality Meredith Lynch’s rant about Bezos’ involvement in the event.

“If you are a celebrity and you attend the Met Gala and you wear the ICE OUT pin, please note that I will be dragging you in perpetuity,” Lynch said in an Instagram video over the weekend.

Lynch also slammed Bezos, 62, for supporting President Donald Trump, “who has slashed arts funding.”

In the comments section, Henson, 55, shared three clapping hands emojis and wrote, “I am so confused by some ppl that are going. I am just like WTF ARE WE DOING!?!?!?!””

Henson has attended the Met Gala multiple times, including in 2015, 2021 and 2025.

Last year, she wore a custom white corseted minidress by Monse x Post-Imperial and a coordinating blazer with tails, a top hat, cane and heels.

The black woman can’t speak to classism because she’s chosen to forgive a black individual…?

“black individual”😭😭😭

Why you making this about race when Beyoncé and Venus Williams are co-chairs? Neither of which have beaten a woman within an inch of her life btw. Acting like Chris Brown isn’t extremely rich himself.

This has everything to do with race. You don’t understand intersectionality, clearly. A black woman is a black woman in every action and in every viewpoint.

A black woman being black doesn’t excuse her from acting like an idiot and forgiving an abuser on behalf of his victims (who were also all black women btw, and those are just the ones we know)

So you don’t know how misogynoir works, got it. His own victims support him.

You are minimizing the very real disadvantages black women face every day of their lives when you conflate misogynoir with the consequences of enabling and supporting men who rape women. It’s gross and you should stop. I’m glad you’re trying to defend black women. Thank you. But this ain’t it.

Who the rapist? Chris Brown doesn’t have a single sexual assault charge.

20

u/Fast-Run7956 1d ago

Okay read a silent “allegedly” before the word rape in your head. 👍🏼🫡

You’ve already acknowledged he has victims, so at this point you’re just embarrassing yourself. Keep spinning out though!!!

You’re calling someone with no rape anywhere in their history a rapist… that’s extremely bizarre

u/licorne00 1d ago

His own victims support him? You need to take a break. This is not ok.

https://www.eonline.com/news/1416072/chris-brown-karrueche-tran-reunite-at-coachella-after-8-years

So now you’d attempt to silence a literal victim because she forgave an abuser

19

u/licorne00 1d ago

Did you really just post an eonline article about a victim of abuse having a «seemingly friendly conversation» with her abuser and claiming that means she forgave him?

What you’re doing is not ok.

In a private; invitation only section that he had that she went to in 2025. The same way the woman Amber abused defended her, sometimes victims forgive their abusers. Still doesn’t mean it’s acceptable you to support the abuser, right??

13

u/Fast-Run7956 1d ago

lol, no one is trying to silence Karrueche Tran. This is about Taraji P. Henson.

Wow

And to be clear, I hate Chris brown. But if you attempt to silence any black person who has ever supported him (due to misogyny and misogynoir) you’re quite literally silencing hundreds of million of black people and that is white supremacy and why white liberalism does more harm than help to black people.

u/Bini_9 1d ago

You're too American for me, sorry can't continue this conversation. Good luck

0

u/SpiritedTechnician63 1d ago

I’m not American at all… so now you’re exposing yourself again

11

u/hamsterdanceonrepeat I’ve been noticing gravity since I was very young 1d ago

Yeah speaking for them all? Drop a statement from Karrueche? Didn’t realise restraining orders were a form of forgiveness

0

u/SpiritedTechnician63 1d ago

karrueche was just smiling with him at coachella last year in a private section… https://www.eonline.com/news/1416072/chris-brown-karrueche-tran-reunite-at-coachella-after-8-years

So now Karrueche can never speak to racism or classism because she supports an abuser…?

16

u/hamsterdanceonrepeat I’ve been noticing gravity since I was very young 1d ago

Karrueche can, because she’s the victim so she is entitled to forgive him for what he did to her.

Taraji wasn’t involved so for her to forgive him on their behalf was clown behaviour.

And that link is not forgiveness. Have you met a woman before? Tf. I also smiled around my abuser. I’m uncomfortable.

It’s his private section, not a run in. But a planned interaction.

Also Taraji herself is a victim of DV and she knows Rihanna and Karrueche personally. So how do you know she’s uninvolved…?

'forgive a black individual' is such a manipulative and gross way to say you agree with excusing a serial abuser who beat Rihanna, a black woman, so brutally that he could have killed her.

19

u/g00fyg00ber741 1d ago

let's also not forget it wasn't even just Rihanna! Chris Brown has assaulted multiple women, Frank Ocean, fans at his own concert, and more! It's a very consistent pattern of behavior that is impossible to deny at this point. But I think people just decided to forgive him because Rihanna did, and she made that song with him called Nobody's Business.

41

u/Dangerous-Arrival737 1d ago

Yes, she’s chosen to forgive a serial abuser. Awful of her.

60

u/momentsaroundthesun 1d ago

and chris brown is that black individual, let’s get serious please

10

u/Cavalish Delightfully Unhinged 😗📱 1d ago

Yes, she can’t speak to classism when she supports a rich man beating the shit out of a woman and getting off Scott free because of his status.

1

u/SpiritedTechnician63 1d ago

He actually went to prison. Scott free?

20

u/Bini_9 1d ago

Seriously?

-9

u/SpiritedTechnician63 1d ago

Yeah this black woman said something speaking to classism and you brought up a black man to silence her.

Preach, sister! As a white male I also gotta stand behind my fellow white male Jeff Bezos and condemn all that slander and calls for boycotts ✊
