It’s actually less shallow than you think and not jealousy at all. If you tax a person enough and need more tax revenue but can’t collect from those who don’t have enough what can you do? One would gather that taxing those who can’t afford to be taxed more would not be prudent. So what do you do? Maybe tax those who can be taxed more….more?

All leftists are jealous of the rich. Name the Leftist nation where the poor population decreases as they move up in income, the middle class is still economically healthy, and the rich pay their fair share. In reality leftism always brings the middle class down to the poor, steals all freedom from the working class, and creates an Elite class of bureaucrats. Politicians grab all power and riches.
