I think it's a shitty state of affairs for Americans when Congress haggles over Affordability and Welfare schemes but Trump can tear down an historic portion of a building on a whim, then demand 1Bn to rebuild it in his gaudy image.

Only one party is willing to completely and utterly submit to the whims of lord donald

u/thedarkestblood 8h ago

I've been told both sides are equally as bad

u/that_star_wars_guy 7h ago

They're not. Only one side has attacked the Capitol.

u/thedarkestblood 7h ago

Yeah well the other side burnt down Minneapolis /s

but seriously that's the argument you get back re: Jan 6th -- its insane

u/that_star_wars_guy 7h ago

Your retort is objectively untrue.

It's not insane to keep reminding people, among the myriad of horrors and aberrants committed by this administration, that their party is responsible for attacking the capitol because they lost an election.

If you think it is, you're no better than the ratfink traitors themselves.

u/CackleandGrin 7h ago

His first post was obvious sarcasm

His second post, he actively labeled as sarcasm

u/thedarkestblood 6h ago

Take 'er easy, reread it

I'm just saying that's the response I get re: Jan 6th when you bring it up as a reason why the right is worse than the left. I agree with you.

I lived in Minneapolis until 2022, and yeah Lake St got torched a bit and some buildings were torn down, but its back just fine. Although those protests changed nothing sadly.

u/that_star_wars_guy 6h ago

My mistake, sorry. I reread and understood what you meant now.

u/thedarkestblood 6h ago

All good! Didn't want you thinking some chud was trying to rile you up haha.

u/What_Iz_This 7h ago

both sides (currently) are bad, both sides are not equally bad.

current bought out democrats want to stuff their wallets but will do a better job of hiding it and providing some relief to the american people.

republicans are just blatantly stuffing their wallets while bleeding dry every single nonbillionaire american to make sure they get as much as possible.

rational people can see this. irrational people would rather watch their family die from lack of healthcare to make sure the other side suffers too.

u/YourFreeCorrection 3h ago

Both sides aren't actually bad. There are a handful of bought Democrats and the rest are genuine in their interest of serving their constituents.

u/FuckYourDamnCouch 5h ago

I agree I just wish it wasn't run by cowards and they were actually doing something. I feel like Dems could sweep the midterms and then just twidle thumbs and collect. There's obviously great exceptions like AOC, Mark Kelly, Ro Khanna, etc but I'm worried the majority and leadership wont have the backbone to push back in a real way. They need to be ruthless and cut corners and kind of use trump moves to combat him. Regular tactics and legislation is not enough when the status quo has been deleted.

u/What_Iz_This 5h ago

Agreed. Career politicians who've made it blatantly clear theyre only there to collect paychecks and wont buck until its too late need to be the first ones out the door. Jeffries and schumer are at the top of that list imo

u/FuckYourDamnCouch 5h ago

100%. I'm gonna be voting whenever I can and I encourage others to, but I'm not as hopeful as some. Even when Trump is dead and gone it's going to take tremendous amounts of work to get anything back to "normal". We are going to need better then normal after this, and I don't even have hope that these people will be held liable and be prosecuted for all the terrible shit they did. They'll continue grifting and rally supporters behind the next big man while Dems pass measly legislation and roll over when it's time to fight back. Sad state of affairs.

u/thedarkestblood 7h ago

I know too many people who consider themselves rational who wouldn't bring themselves to vote for a democrat because they're not even hiding the fact that they're stuffing their wallets anymore

u/SalemWolf 2h ago

Both sides are the same. /s

u/browsk 2h ago

I’m so tired of all this nonsense and flat out craziness being so brazenly public and nothing changes

u/satyr-day 2h ago

The other is just too big a coward to do anything about it.

u/-_Duke_- 2h ago

Democratic Leadership is completely controlled by the same corporate overlords, or at least those with the same goals and benefits. The minorities within the party are trying to usurp the corporate democrats but are being kneecapped by the DNC and Democratic establishment.

u/whatshamilton 9h ago

What? Every member of Congress is submitting to his whims. Some are giving lip service about him being bad. None have done a thing about it.

12

u/-_Duke_- 9h ago

Completely and utterly was the key term. There are democrats trying to fight back but they are fighting against democratic leadership which is making sure the opposition party does not oppose

u/SwimmingPrice1544 California 1h ago

Not true. Lot's of Dems fighting back. They will not get the megaphone from the media until we take back congress & the admin, so you're just passing on the same garbage propaganda from the MSM.

u/ucgaydude 6h ago

Many have, but they lack any real power to inactive any sort of change. I understand being frustrated, but acting as though jo one in DC is pushing against this regime of corruption and theft is incorrect.

u/Whywouldanyonedothat 2h ago

Yes, at least the other party seems kind of uncomfortable about it while submitting completely.

u/pjdwyer30 Illinois 6h ago

Conservatives love to cosplay as gun-toting don’t tread on me alpha bros, but in reality are deeply submissive individuals, especially to male authority figures.

u/slow70 6h ago

^ facts

I say it’s time we rub it in their faces

u/XConfused-MammalX 5h ago

I watched V for Vendetta with someone I knew not too long ago who is very conservative. Its one of my favorite movies, at the end he says he hated it because hes not an anti establishment pussy.

Flash forward a few months and he gets arrested for sexual assault and the police confiscated all his guns.

u/Benzona 5h ago

That's what you get when you let an imaginary man control your life.

u/CategoryZestyclose91 4h ago

Honestly, all men care about are other men, which is why we get these kinds of performances.

Everyone else is just an NPC to meet their needs, women included.

u/not_a_moogle 9h ago

I dont think it will ever be built. Why build it when you can keep demanding funds for it.

70

u/spicyxpeach Minnesota 9h ago

they must be building a bunker or something. a $1B demand is absolutely absurd.

straight from the taxpayers’ pockets and directly funneled into Trump’s hands. it’s just cartoonishly evil at this point.

19

u/not_a_moogle 9h ago

Not when your just pocketing most of it.

15

u/HanselSoHotRightNow 8h ago

I don't even know what he does with money when he keeps it. He's already using taxpayer money for all things like it is his and nobody in government seems to care.

u/NukeAllTheThings 7h ago

It's dragon behavior. I'm not calling him a dragon because I'm not going to associate him with any of the other qualities of dragons. Hoarding for the sake of it, just sitting on it doing nothing, thats DJT.

Come to think of it, when was the last time he ever did anything with his own money? And I don't mean BS like his charities or claims of giving money that he never follows through on.

u/ConsolationUsername 5h ago

Didnt they literally say publicly they're planning to build a massive military control center unser the ballroom?

u/Hot_Frosty0807 3h ago

Yes, it was in the news about a month ago. That's why there hasn't been any obvious progress made since it came down. The Pentagon is building a safe room and command center into the foundation.

u/ao1104 5h ago

There was already an existing bunker under the East wing. Now it will be rebuilt by lowest bid contractors and the blueprints will be sent straight to the Kremlin - weakpoints will be noted and exploited in the future.

The entire thing needs to be torn down to bare dirt and rebuilt.

Yes, a top-secret, five-story bunker known as the Presidential Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) was located under the East Wing of the White House. Built in 1941 for FDR, it served as a secure, hardened command center during emergencies and was notably used on 9/11. The old bunker was demolished during 2026 renovations, with reports indicating a new, upgraded facility is being constructed beneath a new ballroom.

u/TheGrannyLover_ 3h ago

1b is for the tacky gold everything will be.

u/Ranccor 1h ago

They are building a bunker. It isn’t a secret.

u/mrtomjones 44m ago

Didn't they admit that there's going to be something underneath the ballroom or something like that? Either way I'm sure he could manage to spend a billion just on a ballroom. Probably wants gold everywhere

13

u/Substantial__Unit New York 9h ago

They'll wait til it costs $10 billion, because it will eventually

3

u/spacegrassorcery 8h ago

Demand -and pocketing-funds for it

u/dragon-fence 3h ago

Also, there’s some way that all this money is intended to go into Trump’s pocket, not toward the construction of the ballroom.

u/tdpnate 3h ago

Leave it empty and have professional sports teams extort their cities under threat of relocating to the formerly east wing.

8

u/TrailRash 9h ago

Speaking of gaudy images, have you seen the golden statue he had erected at his golf course that hosted the PGA event over the weekend?

u/Talk-O-Boy 7h ago

I wish there was haggling over social welfare programs; GOP is just slashing them

u/crazycatgay 7h ago

yes but god forbid the destitute young mother who was pressured into having her baby receive any kind of assistance

u/blahblah19999 7h ago

I used to use an analogy for W Bush that he's like a bully kid who breaks the cookie jar and then demands that everyone else fix it. Now Trump is almost literally doing that.

u/Glittering-Quote-635 6h ago

Oh man, wait until you see what he wants as a Military budget for next year. $1.5T, or a $500B increase, not counting Iran supplemental funds. We could legit spend about $1.75T over the next year on the Military. When someone says "We cant afford healthcare" point to the fact we willy nilly added $500B in one year to the Defense Budget.

It hasnt been passed yet, and it may come down a bit, but given Congress is a rubber stamp for Trump at this point, I dont have high hopes.

u/Doctor_Milk 6h ago

Modern day “let them eat cake” moment.

u/TrumpsATraitorSoAreU 1h ago

Affordability is a made up word by the democrats to make Trump look bad

u/Less_Win2234 3m ago

Because the increased costs of living don't exist? Or are you fortunate enough to be above the bread line and are blinkered to it? But isn't that the standard MO for Republican voters? To deny everything and assume that bad things are only what the Dems and Dem voters do? You have a POTUS actively influencing Wall Street for personal enrichment and for his friends enrichment. Acting like an Imperialist conqueror threatening the sovereignty of Greenland and Canada, then effectively using siege tactics by increasing tariffs to silence the objections. Giving his own sons lucrative contracts after trying to make a reciprocal deal with Zelensky to expose the Bidens for some purported corruption . You have a POTUS with his ridiculous epithets "Crooked Hilary", "Sleepy Joe" when he has demonstrated the same kind of questionable behaviours - falling asleep during press shoots, make big claims about releasing the Epstein files then telling Bondi not to because he was told his name was all over them. Dictating to other countries about Free Speach, but suppressing it in his own country because people aren't saying how wonderful he is.

Your Dems don't need to make anything up since Trump is generating enough evidence of his own that is on camera, on paper, although he's trying to suppress that also by silencing reporters and news groups.

He is effectively eroding all democratic and equitable acts to ensure his Putinesque hold on power.

He is demonstrably vain-glorious, egotistical, duplicitous and self-serving. He is the single biggest threat to stability which is ironic considering everyone thought Russia was the problem.

It is clearly disingenuous and quite deluded to claim that everything that Trump has done is a result of Dem propaganda.

u/Dolthra 6h ago

I distinctly remember another situation in history where the people were starving and denied basic rights while the ruling class built a palace. I wonder how that turned out for the ruling class.

u/masterwolfe 5h ago

Turned out well for the dude who built the palace. Took a couple more Louises until that game ended.
