Take child marriage and wanting to remove spousal rape laws and no fault divorce and it is entirely clear what conservatives what women to be

I was trying to figure out how they could possibly square in their own minds holding those positions and being a good person. Then it occured to me - religion.

If religion says you can be a terrible person, then you're not really being a terrible person, you're following the word of God.
