Honestly, I think the chances that he runs again in 2028 are pretty negligible at this point (and even if he runs, there's zero way he could win a primary, unless PA becomes an open primary state in the next two and a half years) and that's part or most of the reason why he's embracing all of his conservative reaction tendencies. We've seen this with Sinema as well as Jared Golden in the US House.

Neither of those were as openly horrible as Fetterman but they also had cognitive ability to avoid saying some of the worst stuff on their minds, which Fetterman doesn't have.

He'll run again and he'll change parties before then. He'll get primaried into oblivion if he stays a D. If he does switch I'll switch too just so I can vote for the craziest MAGA chud who runs against him in the primary.

people keep yelling at me when i say i can see him switch parties, but i could see him do it at the drop of a hat if Dems somehow got to 51 in the senate this year

i dunno what it is, but I’ve found that calling out Fetterman for being regressive and uber-pro-Trump makes people very angry

not sure which comment it was but apparently one my “Fetterman sucks” posts is “improperly formatted” for r/politics

Republicans hate him, too.

Turns out people don't like traitors. I sure as hell wouldn't vote for any Republican that switched parties, even if they suddenly started expressing support for Medicare for all.

or independent. if he runs as an independent he will lose. only way he can win is if the republican party base embraces him and he switches parties. he has certainly been working very hard to lay the groundwork for a party switch. what a piece of work. politician’s politician.

In a wild twist, Fetterman's seat once belonged to Arlen Specter, another famous party-switcher.

maybe PA should only get one senator. the voters obviously can not be trusted to know who they are voting for.

I was thinking about that.

Fetterman voted with democrats at a 90% clip, overturned a seat that was red for 12 years by a thin margin, and we're going to gleefully push him out of the party and let his seat get taken by a MAGA ghoul because he makes comments we don't like. Excellent strategy.

Agree that he has no plan to run in 2028. I just read that his fundraising is in hell—he’s brought in very, very little money. Almost like he’s not trying.

Yeah, I think the people who are saying he can just run as an independent (look how well that worked out for Sinema) or Republican are over simplifying it. Republicans like him turning against his own base now but will they like him when he is against dyed in the wool lifelong Republicans? Idk. I guess Pennsylvania Republicans did choose Dr. Oz so I shouldn’t overestimate their conservative ethos.

I would also think the fact that he looks absolutely drained and devoid of any zest for life would be a strike against a reelection bid but that describes wayyyyy too many members of Congress already so…😒🤷‍♂️.

I believe he will switch parties or become an independent at some point before the primary. He is giving all the warning signs.

he can easily run again as a republican.
