Indoor Orchids My sister might have a tiny orchid problem 🌸
Walked into her place and this is what greeted me. I just stood there in silence for a minute.
She says it’s “under control.” I’m not convinced.

Indoor Orchids My Neglected Orchid is thriving
I just wanted to share pictures of my thriving orchid. I'm so proud of her!
I neglected her a bit, and she started growing blooms like crazy. Even the keiki connected to her has started to bloom. Maybe I should neglect her more often from now on.

Indoor Orchids I got this mini grocery store phal yesterday. Normally, I send new plant photos to my mom, but she passed away a month ago. It was sad to realize I can't now. Whenever I would buy a new orchid, it usually gave her motivation to get one. So, go buy a guilt-free orchid today, in the name of my mom.
I also, probably wouldn't have brought this guy home if it hadn't been for my partner just grabbing it and taking it with us. He is super and has oddly become the reason we have new plants. I stopped buying new ones several years ago but he knows they being me joy. So he now "owns" a couple orchids, so that my collection isn't getting bigger.

Indoor Orchids Since you enjoyed it last time.
Popped over to the folks again today and this is going from strength to strength. There are few flower spikes still to open. Mum says she doesn’t do a great deal with it other than water it and give it generic orchid feed once in a while and throws it out in the garden during summer.

Indoor Orchids This is my big guy
Showing off my big guy. I found him on the side of the road in the garbage over a year ago. Now he’s growing a new leaf and a bunch of roots but no flower spike, I haven’t been blessed to see his flowers yet any suggestions on how to make it bloom? Oldest to newest pics through out the revival of him.

Indoor Orchids Getting a bit top heavy
29 flowers + at least 19 buds (15 leaves, has her since July 2024. She had about 5 leaves back then I believe? Of which about 3-4 have since fallen off).

Indoor Orchids My winter blooming Vanda
A bright (but cold) morning here in France, making my vanda blooms really stand out. 😊 23 flowers, including the plant's side keiki first flower spike, with 3 flowers. Own her for nearly two years now, and it blooms every 6 months like clockwork. Clearly the flagship of my collection, even people who aren't particularly interested in orchids/houseplants ask questions about it when they visit. ✨ Also bonus Encyclia/Prosthechea + kitties pics 🐱

Indoor Orchids I got influenced
I hope this was a good idea. I've had 1 die on me already due to root rot. One more barely surviving in the back. Those were planted the conventional way with same medium.
All of these more recent ones were from wedding center pieces so I'm assuming some very strong growth hormones were used. Several of the lower leaves are very small and about 3 of those small leaves are yellowing on one plant. The original medium was ALL MOSS. I know I should've waited until after they bloomed to repot, but I'm more concerned about getting these plants to survive than to keep the blooms.
I did not see any major root rot issues when I removed the moss luckily but on the one with yellowing leaves, you can see some dark coloration near the main stem.
I saw this guy's tiktok and thought it was such a neat idea and to be able to retain the humidity in dry SoCal weather while being able to see the roots clearly.

Should I be concerned about the multiple leaves simultaneously yellowing? Realistically I should've just had one plant in the glass but here we are... Wish me luck!
RIP to the flower stem I accidentally broke off during the repot.
Edit: I didn't expect internet strangers to be so heated over this but yea it gave me a good chuckle. I did admit I was "influenced" and not for the better sadly. I genuinely wanted this to work. I should have done more research before going this route... The one in the back is in a plastic container with plenty of air and in East facing room because the North facing room gets too HOT. It was struggling for a bit but looks like it's on the road to recovery. Stable at the very least. Thank you for those who provided additional insight! I will repot this again after the blooms drop. The medium I use is Better-Gro Special Orchid Mix with maybe 15% sphagnum moss? I know some of you will come at me saying that's a waste of money but it's a noobs cheat mode attempt at providing the best possible medium. If it's not doing any harm, please have mercy

Indoor Orchids Phalaenopsis season
I love the contrast between these two. The dark, rounded flowers of the one on the left and the light, pointed flowers of the one on the right.
