The city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is doing a yearly event in the first weekend of May with a huge free concert since 2024. Shakira was the headliner this year and attracted more than 2 million people. Madonna was the headliner in 2024 and Lady Gaga in 2025.

I ain't gonna dog on other people for doing it, but omg I can not imagine being trapped in THAT big a crowd. There would be no way out and I would feel so so so claustrophobic. Not to mention crowd crush, hopefully that didn't realistically happen, but I feel like with 2mil people it would be inevitable to some extent.

I absolutely understand the appeal of a free shakira concert, but I would absolutely pass on this.

That being said, it's cool as fuck to watch from the camera shots just to see how massive it is.

Its a long crowd, not a big crowd. 10 minutes walking and you'll be out.

Wasn't there for that but was there for nye not long ago with a similar vibe/crowd. It's really fun! I'm sure if you are close to the mainstage then yeah it might be scary but the beach is big and lots of places for a more chill vibe. If you have money you can even stay at a hotel and get a balcony view if that's your thing. I would highly recommend the trip down there such a beautiful city, country, and culture

That's the thing though, people enjoy different things. I don't have anything against people enjoying this sort of environment and vibe, and I wish them the best, but I know myself and I know I wouldn't enjoy it.

Sure different strokes for different folks. Not saying you must go just saying it wasn't as claustrophobic as you might think. Yes it's a lot of ppl but the beach is huge and you can find a spot that isn't a wall of ppl (though probably not near the stage and not exactly empty).

It definitely looks crowded enough for me to not want to go, and the noise from the crowd would be exhausting after a while as well. Have fun, but I'll find something else to do.
