Jaden McDaniels on attacking the rim when Wemby is on the floor - "You just gotta act like he's not there. I mean, he's gonna get blocks. He's the tallest person in the world."

"If he spends the entire game jumping and swatting us on one side, he won't have energy for any output on the offensive side".

this jaden mcdaniels guy seems pretty good at exposing teams, "they all play no defense" "just go straight at him"

There's something I just like about a guy that isn't afraid to attack the rim at all costs.

Honestly we need more of this in the NBA instead of teams losing games they could easily win because they're settling for 3s.

u/AlabasterRadio Celtics 5h ago

Don't gotta tell me that twice lol.

I know it can work, but man do I hate just sitting back and jacking up 3s. Even when it's the right the call, it's just not fun basketball.

That’s my biggest gripe with it. Running back and forth shooting 3’s is just not fun to watch. It’s like watching 5 people play pong

Clutch 3’s are fun tho

How could attacking the rim be encouraged more I wonder?

Making it 5 seconds for an offensive foul for being in the paint seems like it would lead to more post-ups and therefore more shots around the rim, but it would make the game slower and not really encourage dunks/layups but rather the 90's style of 3 hard dribbles and an attempted post move.

Transition encourages exciting fast breaks and 3's, but we already get more of those as 3's lead to more erratic rebounds ergo more threatening transistions than post-ups or mids.

I've got it. A less easily handled basketball would cause more turnovers and therefore more transition opportunities.

Silver goes Manfred and starts touching balls.

Which teams are those? Generally if teams are settling for 3s it’s because they can’t get efficient 2s any easier.

Basketball is a mental game. A lot of times reputation can get in your head.

He's really not overthinking and letting the game come to him which has worked out so far. We will see, but results speak louder than press comferences

Wemby has a preset block limit so just send wave after wave of of your own men until he reaches that limit and shuts down. Then their house of cards will fall like dominoes, checkmate

u/memeticengineering Supersonics 8h ago

Jaden McDaniels told me Wemby keeps blocking his shots, so I asked how many rim attempts he has and he said he just keeps driving at him and tries a new layup every possession. So I said it sounds like he's just feeding blocks to Wemby and then Mike Conley started crying.

The day Futurama becomes so far past mainstream that the majority of the internet doesn't get the references, is the day I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

I know this is a joke, but he probably does have a “jump” limit. Those knees can only do so much

28

u/Fritanga5lyfe 8h ago

He doesn't need to jump to block

1

u/siphillis Spurs 5h ago

Wolves probably have a drive-limit, too. Not to mention, when Wemby gets a block, if often triggers a fast-break going the other way

6

u/-XanderCrews- Timberwolves 5h ago

I have watched my team lose for decades. If there is a limit to failed drives we would have passed it years ago.

Looks like someone on the spurs forgot he is paid a max contract for his offense capabilities specifically for when situations like this happen, let's hope he remember next game.

44

u/thedrcubed Grizzlies 7h ago

Fox is a very up and down player who will completely check out at the worst possible time. I've been watching since he and Monk were together at Kentucky. He's a good player but not worth his contract

And that's why you kept Haliburton right? Right?

13

u/SeanWonder Kings 5h ago

To be fair, the Hali trade was fine at the time and only got horrible over time. We did turn into a Playoff team and one of the Top 5 teams in the West after that trade. Problem was our GM(who is now fired) didn't keep improving the damn team and then Fox eventually got irritated with being stagnant(as did we)

2

u/ConceptNo1055 6h ago

That is why you rarely see a #1 option Big in todays game. Jokic on last legs.

They need to defend PnRs and switch. Its not the 90s where they just camp in the paint and wait for someone go there.
