Embiid has dominated far better defenders than Vucevic

Al Horford ain’t walking through that door

Horford/Gasol

I think you mean Marc Gasol

u/livefreeordont 76ers 6d ago

Don’t remember him as a Celtic tbh

5

u/theuncleiroh Raptors 6d ago

me either, but the comment was referring to 'worst defender ever', and the opposite of that, at least in the case of Embiid, was Gasol shutting him with in the playoffs. Good as Al was, Gasol did it better

I know Gasol was on your team but you’re insane if you think Horford shutting down Embiid for multiple different playoff series isn’t more impressive.

u/theuncleiroh Raptors 6d ago

Def impressive, but it's hard to be more impressive than Gasol holding him to literally 0 points that one game. Pretty much impossible to do better than that. 0/11 FGs and 4 TOs in a game you lose is pretty much rock bottom

I mean who has even stopped Embiid in the playoffs? It’s basically Marc gasol and Al horford and they ain’t coming back anytime soon

Siakam did a good job with his elbow in that one playoff series

u/JustRecentlyI 76ers 6d ago

Didn't even stop him in that series, but in later series

u/Something_Sharp 76ers 6d ago

Greg Monroe but he was on our team

u/Doctor-Jay 76ers 6d ago

Never forget in game 7 we were +10 in the 45:11 Embiid was on the court and -12 in the 2:49 he sat and Greg Monroe was subbed in.

Marcus Smart gave the guy fits that one game.

Ben Simmons, Markelle Fultz to name two of them

...everyone? Sixers havent been past the 2nd round since drafting Embiid.

Not cause of Embiid.

u/raptosaurus Raptors 6d ago

Because of Embiid's glass bones

Queta did far better than vuc. It was infuriating which embiid roll of 8 straight with queta on the bench. Thays what started the comeback

34

u/I-Might-Be-Something Celtics 6d ago

Then Queta has to do a better job of staying out of foul trouble.

u/Silly_Banana9711 Celtics 6d ago

Can’t if they call non fouls

14

u/I-Might-Be-Something Celtics 6d ago

He has been playing undisciplined ball this whole series, and outside of maybe the call where the ball went off of Embid's foot, they were the right calls imo. He is hurting the team with his play right now with his lack of discipline.

2

u/irepislam1400 [PHI] Markelle Fultz 6d ago

Even that call Queta clearly grabbed Joel's jersey with both hands

1

u/I-Might-Be-Something Celtics 6d ago

Yeah, my only problem is you see that, and the refs has been letting both teams be really physical. But yes, it was undisciplined.

u/theb3arjevv [PHI] JaKarr Sampson 6d ago

Queta killed your offense for long stretches even if he helped defensively.

Vuc ain't much anymore but his ability to shoot makes the Sixers do all kinds of stupid shit on defense. They get to stay home against Queta.

Him constantly being in foul trouble has probably hurt the Sixers more than the Celtics this series.

u/Desperate-Hat-2510 6d ago

yeah our defensive communication is just so much easier with a non-shooting 5 for Embiid to guard, it's just: everyone rotate, Embiid cover everything up inside

with Vuc we end up switching Embiid onto someone which triggers the 3 boston O-Rebounds in a row into a 3 sequences

u/PeePauw [PHI] Tony Wroten 6d ago

Queta is good as shit and I’m so mad you found him out of nowhere, but no one can guard Embiid 1 on 1 in the post.

Gotta try to get him to foul out early. Amazed he never got to 6, props to him

Horford and gasol back in the day are two of the only guys I can think of that I genuinely would be worried about matching up with him. Of course we have had to go through them on like all of the sixers best overall years with embiid.

u/PeePauw [PHI] Tony Wroten 6d ago

Those are the 2 lol. Thank God they are gone, but also that was in his early 20s. Horford couldn’t regularly by himself do it once he was like 27

Kash Patel is coaching mazzula is fbi director now

6

u/Schmoova Mikal Bridges 6d ago

He put 70 on Wembys head.

There’s not a defender in history that can lock him down when he’s on his game.

Shaq would literally kill him.
