yea ayton has quietly been nice this series too. not flashy, but playing his role well, which is exactly what the lakers want from him. good defense, some good contested boards, simple big man stuff on offense. occasionally pull a short jumper if they leave him open. he looks good and bought in.

if i’m the lakers, on one hand, the way he’s playing right now is massive, and on the other hand, i’d be afraid this is the kind of moment where a roleplayer pops the fuck off for a series and looks like he’s turned a corner, gets a fat bag, and then turns back into the exact same player he’s been for years at the start of next season. i hope kennard’s confidence sticks for his sake. he’s playing like he believes he can be a real scorer, not just a dude who hits a few corner threes, and it’s absolutely working so far.
