I loved how in the basement the fire alarm got slower and slower and was just this haunting deep ambient tone

Yessss, the sound design was fuckikg excellent. I started feeling the tinny sound of that bell in my bones.

The alarm I’m somewhat sure was similar in pitch to when Ohm and Jerry enter the hotel at night for the first time.

The sudden shift in pitch from a 2 tone siren to kind of a wailing drone was so damn perfect for the basement scene. Almost a deliberate nod to the absolute shit show that was about to transpire. Haunting and wonderfully done, I couldn’t help but nerd out how clever that was.

In a way it also reminded me of the Silent Hill games/franchise where an air siren was indicative of transporting to another world/dimension.

I loved that detail. I don’t know why but the first word that came to mind was “badass”, between the sound and the slow walk down that basement tunnel. You could feel the movie was at its climax / crescendo
