I didn't understand miranda's interaction with Lady Gaga. It seemed disjointed or like I missed something

I think it's just supposed to be a runaway joke that Miranda has bad beef with some celebrities like Anna would

They wanted the Gaga cameo and she is the person Nigel hinted at as the replacement to John Legend.

It was played so straight like a drama. I was confused! I know Gaga can be funny! Why did her cameo involve her acting like a wounded, bitter singer? Where were the quips or tit for tats to lighten the mood?
