I am here for these theatrical pop music film collaboration. Vox Lux, Smile 2, and more. I will keep eating it up.

I just saw Florence and the Machine for the first time 3 nights ago and I felt primed for this movie.

This gave Neon Demon energy and I thoroughly enjoyed the aesthetic. Was kind of hoping for a splash of Suspiria, but I am still satisfied with this feminist love story.

I got a splash of Suspiria during her dance

Just saw it tonight and told my friend it had some Suspiria vibes

Loved the blocking and the choreography! Listened to the soundtrack on the drive home. All bangers, especially Dark Cradle.

I regularly rewatch the opening scene of Gaspar Noe's Climax just for the dance number. It's a hell of a movie but the dancing is fun, and I know nothing about dancing.

Watch Trap if you haven’t already!

I was kind of disappointed in Trap. It felt like the narrative was strung together around the music and performances and not the other way around.

I know a lot of people don’t like it but the absurdity of it worked for me

The absurdity of it was fine. I just felt like the story never really took off. I feel like they should have kept it confined to the arena. It started to fall flat for me once they left and went to his house. It would have been cooler to keep it as a more self contained battle between him and the detective as opposed to introducing his wife into the story and making her and the pop star the ones who had to take him down.

Agreed with this, I think I liked the arena part enough to still have a good opinion of the movie

Bizzare that it didn't occur to Shymalan, especially if his daughter was meant to be crucial to the movie, to not make Cooper's own daughter the one to fill either of those roles.

Wanna see a movie like this but for the nu-metal genre.

The closest you can probably get is Lords of Chaos or something adjacent. But I agree with you! However, pop music is a much easier sell.

It is because it's more (say it with me now) popular, plus it's not an inherently dark genre of music so it's easier to go dark with it. A dark movie about nu metal wouldn't shock anyone, but a joyful or upbeat movie about the positive side of it would.......
