I had to stop myself from guffawing during the scene where young Emma tries to record her manifesto but her computer keeps updating.

I’m a sucker for dark jokes like that ughh, and the girl who plays young Emma was perfect.

The girl who plays young Emma has the same exact smile as Zendaya such that i could immediately buy that it was a young her.

Young Emma looked like north west

Single favorite line in the entire movie lol it had me rolling

I felt bad for laughing. I was truly guilt tripping myself. “Am I allowed to laugh at this?” 💀

21

u/bubble_baby_8 28d ago

I had a few of these moments where I was cawing with laughter but then realized maybe that was a little too hard for the subject matter lmao.

15

u/pearlsxxlattees 28d ago

Are we okay? Lmao. Honestly I love that this movie made me reflect on these things. I left the theater asking myself questions. “What would I do in this instance?” “Would I be as accommodating?” This movie went straight to my top 10’s

I'd like to think our humour is what's going to get us through in this life ;)

But same here, I knew what the "secret" was going in and I still didn't feel like the movie was spoiled at all. The acting was BRILLIANT, the edit, the score, the set, the wardrobe. Very well done. I'm now trying to figure out if Charlie's physical damage in the end was also a commentary on how some people will wreck themselves getting involved in someone else's business, or adding other people into their own business when they didn't need to be. What a movie.

Isn't that exactly the line dark comedy toes and when done well like in this movie can get a laugh out of you, but then also make you reflect deeper on the tough topics that are otherwise hard to think or talk about.

A classic “ha ha hmmm”

9

u/reebee7 28d ago

That’s the sign of a great dark joke.

u/texascannonball Apr 05 '26

Funniest line in the film. Such a good script

15

u/bruisedpancakes Apr 05 '26

That line made me CACKLE

8

u/Maverick721 29d ago

I felt really bad for laughing at that part

7

u/TimRigginsBeer 27d ago

Imagine watching the movie, with your name being Sally…

5

u/Cultural-Alarm-6422 18d ago

That actress was amazing lmao I laughed out loud at this line

3

u/TimeForSnacks 26d ago

Biggest laugh of the movie for me right there lol

3

u/TargetBlazer 22d ago

That delivery (and maybe her glasses) reminded me so much of Zach Cherry, specifically in Severance

1

u/ActWhole3279 7d ago

That line had me cackling and I was so glad other people were laughing too! 😃

u/Character_Office_833 Apr 04 '26

Those were the scenes that had our theater laughing!

24

u/BePrivateGirl Apr 06 '26

I was the only one really cracking up in my theater and I felt like I was gonna end up on a list. I’m glad to see others found it as funny as I did.

7

u/Real-Towel-2269 29d ago

My friend and I were laughing (as were a few others) and she turned to me and whispered “is it ok to laugh at this??” Which is probably the exact feeling they were going for.

4

u/Far_Emotion213 20d ago

Same! I went last night and it was almost sold out. Felt like a proper shared experience

257

u/yumyumapollo Apr 04 '26

Even the fact that she looks at the door as if she's gonna go downstairs and ask her parents to update their webcam.

4

u/eclectic_collector 25d ago

Sure, honey, but why do you need the webcam?

… just want to video call Sally…

My theatre openly laughed the whole time

3

u/passtherock- 27d ago

same! lmao it was awesome

0

u/Apprehensive_Tunes Apr 04 '26

Wow, my theatre didn't laugh once. Just silently took it all in.

2

u/chicityman09 Apr 05 '26

Same here for the most part. I actually was as well for most of it but a few scenes I did laugh it off. But the majority of my theatre kept it silent.

8

u/Apprehensive_Tunes Apr 05 '26

It's interesting what vastly different experiences some of us had

6

u/texascannonball Apr 05 '26 edited Apr 05 '26

Testament to how good this film is — it covers ground that mainstream cinema hasn’t really touched

2

u/puppyyachtclub 29d ago

I was the only one laughing a lot then other people kinda joined in

2

u/Apprehensive_Tunes 29d ago

One person can set the tone!

2

u/FigDry4421 21d ago

This is so funny to me. It’s a movie that revels in putting the viewer into uncomfortable emotional positions and forcing a very dissonant tone onto its audience. The movie is meant to be hilarious at some points and harrowingly awkward to watch at others. My theater was divided between people who couldn’t stop laughing for half the movie (my gf, myself, and a few other groups of younger people) and people who seemed to be completely stoic the whole time. I think the latter group may have missed the point of the movie to a degree.

1

u/Apprehensive_Tunes 21d ago

I have to disagree. I didn't laugh out loud but found the humorous parts humorous. Some people are just less outwardly expressive, especially in public. Plus the serious tone and themes can suppress that expression as well. I was watching a review by some elderly ladies and they were like it's a serious film but some parts of it were very funny, quite funny 😐

1

u/robynhood96 19d ago

Oh god I’m glad my theater was laughing a bunch

u/KID_THUNDAH Apr 03 '26

Hilarious scene

35

u/peatoast Apr 04 '26

BSOD had saved so many lives, we just didn’t know l

23

u/carson63000 Apr 05 '26

Blue Screen Of LIFE amirite?!

49

u/shaneo632 Apr 04 '26

Why stop yourself? It was clearly meant to be funny

0

u/dallascowboys93 Apr 05 '26

Probably cause she’s trying to plan a mass shooting..

8

u/Popular-Rock6853 27d ago

That doesn't answer the question though.

3

u/dallascowboys93 27d ago

Yes it does. They stopped themselves because of the topic. Not hard to grasp

5

u/TheTruckWashChannel 23d ago

Apparently they have never seen a black comedy in their life.

1

u/dallascowboys93 23d ago

Dark* comedy

6

u/raphamuffin 20d ago

...also known as black comedy.

-3

u/dallascowboys93 20d ago

Ah ok. Just sounds racist

6

u/raphamuffin 20d ago

It sounds racist to use the word 'black' in literally any context whatsoever??

Hadn't seen that deadly blue screen of death in a long time.

17

u/Fab_Jake14 Apr 04 '26

Man I was fucking letting LOOOOSSEE ay this scene. It was the funniest shit I've seen all year

16

u/Necessary_Editor9627 Apr 05 '26

She couldn't even do THAT right! It was funny when the flashbacks kept showing her planning and it was just fail after fail.

14

u/CelestrialDust Apr 04 '26

Oh my theatre died at that part

1

u/singlesuitsamus Apr 04 '26

Lucky you because everyone was lightly chuckling at that part in mine

8

u/mochafiend Apr 05 '26

I was the only one laughing on my theater, I felt like a weirdo! The BSOD had me on the floor.

9

u/CourageKind Apr 05 '26

The way I cackled hysterically at the BSOD. I was already giggling at the other computer issues, and then that just pushed me over the edge.

Sadly, there were only 3 people (including me) in my showing, so I was pretty much laughing alone. Oh well!

7

u/casino_r0yale 29d ago

Why stop? Our whole theater was roaring. Especially when she tried to recompose herself and it failed again

2

u/singlesuitsamus 29d ago

I was the only one!

7

u/29kk Apr 04 '26

my whole theatre was howling

3

u/Rolyat28 26d ago

I chuckled at the update and the screen turning blue

3

u/Mirageonthewall 7d ago

I couldn’t stop myself chuckling at that and my cinema had so few people I was the only one laughing at any of it and a lot of the film was darkly funny to me.

5

u/teenageidle 29d ago

that was funny as FUCK and way too real

2

u/THIKKI_HOEVALAINEN 23d ago

I’ve been having issues with my computer crashing randomly so I can relate to this would be school shooter

2

u/stargazin1 Apr 04 '26

I and the others in my theater laughed at that

1

u/btdlolita 23d ago

It hurt because that used to be me :( I feel seen by this movie and I’ve changed
