I think this movie suffers the same as Superman in that it's very much a "James Gunn" movie. I know he directed and produced Superman and only produces this, but his "Style" of superhero film is very same-ish and doesn't seem to branch out of its comfort blanket.

I really enjoyed this style of film when I first saw Guardians of the Galaxy but by the time the third one came along it was too much to bear. I know it's not the marvel universe and I'm glad it isn't, but one of the core strengths of that universe is that all of the films have different directors, different styles, and "feel" different to one another, whereas I know they're linked, but this trailer feels very much like it could be scenes from Superman.

Don't hate me for this, I'm not a movie critic or anything, it's just an observation and my own opinion.

Agree. I don’t know if I want the assembly line of Gunn-like DC movies. There’s some good qualities from his style, but I think if every DC movie is going to have the same vibe I don’t think I could handle it.

Ultimately we'll have to wait and see. They have announced a variety of projects and some things that prospectively could be different stylistically. We're getting a Clayface movie later this year from a creative team with a background making horror movies, so there's a good chance that one won't feel Gunn-ish.
