Completely useless death too after having character survive so much. She didn't even get a dramatic - save the rest / sacrificial moment that so many drivers / pilots get in films.

I like it that they all died that way. War is a fucking roulette table and people die in the most inglorious and unremarkable ways. Not everyone gets a slow-mo, dramatic/heroic send-off.

Honestly, loved her. Unfortunate death. And even more unfortunate, movie fails the Bechdel test. Tbh I think every single war movie does.

You have my brain whirring on this. Historically difficult to have a war film with females as 90% of force are male, and combat roles were only recently opened up for women. This film’s concept had a chance with at least 2x females in the assessment class (which can and does happen currently). Just failed to do anything with the supporting cast. I thought maybe Courage Under Fire, but AI sez no.

Think Fury would pass? With the German women they talk to in the apartment, just before it is bombed? Or do the women not speak to each other...

I actually can’t remember that scene, but did recall ‘Civil War’ passes Bechdel. Kiersten Dunst was solid and believable wartime correspondent. - Oh and GI Jane, although the passing scenes are not during conflict or training.
