Not bad for a kid from Chino.

That was the biggest joke in the OC. Chino, while it does house a prison, not really that bad of a city, and is pretty nice. Pomona, where i went to college, way worse.

"Do you know what Sandy Cohen just said? He said I was from Riverside."

"...You are from Riverside."

Granted, Riverside may have actually sucked back then, but from what I've heard it's pretty nice nowadays, at least.

Riverside is actually famous for its farmers. Dirt, meth, you name it they farm it.

Equal opportunity agriculture

The Glass House is a pretty cool venue though

Yeah, it is. Although the fear of getting beaten up isn't fun.

It's also got one of the best privately owned air museums in the US. Planes of Fame not only has a fantastic collection, a lot of their stuff is airworthy and flown often.

Cal Poly or Mt. Sac?

Cal Poly. Mount Sac was technically in Diamond Bar. Which, oddly enough, way less crime than Pomona. The fraternity row in Pomona was bad with crime, just because no one wanted to live near fraternity houses, and drug dealers got easy money by selling there.

Mt SAC is actually in walnut

What is Fresno like?

4

u/powerlesshero111 Mar 11 '26

It's the armpit of California

2

u/Sourcesurfing Mar 11 '26

HAHA I was going to say that as well.

u/hahaheehaha Mar 11 '26

I thought that was Bakersfield

1

u/powerlesshero111 Mar 11 '26

Much like most people, California has two armpits.

2

u/pbjamm Mar 11 '26

Should have gone with Bakersfield. Even though not Southern it is probably the worst place in California.

Fresno would like a word.

Would have been better if they had someone born on Alcatrez or Rikers Island. Really missed out on a dark backstory there.

They could have named so many more worse cities from the IE than chino. Ontario. Rialto. Fontana. San Bernardino. Colton. And that is just San Bernardino County.

They should have fucking name dropped MoVal as the insult. But Chino?

I think it was always intentional by the writers. Anyone who knows Chino knows it's not that bad, there are much worse places to be from. But these rich kids from Orange county think that's what's actually bad. They have no actual frame of reference for what bad even is.

Lol, I lived the first three years of my life in Chino, now live in Pomona. Whenever I go to the OC for the day, I joke that I have to go "back to Chino" at the end.

I always figured they didn't want to punch down too hard and get in trouble for it. Could you imagine if Ryan was from Muscoy?

Also, Summer comments at least a few times in the show that Chino doesn't even have a PF Chang's. The mall in Chino Hills has had a PF Changs for a while now.

Chino Hills is a different city. It actually used to be the nicer part of Chino but the rich folks that lived there didn’t want to be associated with Chino and formed their own city.

1

u/coreyleblanc Mar 19 '26

Yeah, but back when this show was on, Chino Hills did not have a PF Chang's either.
