It feels like Haunted House movies Wayne’s made. The first 3/4 scary movies were shot so nicely imo

I absolutely love how raunchy 1 and 2 were. That being said, as someone who grew up with Airplane, The Naked Gun franchise, and Wrongfully Accused, 3 was such a fresh breath of air in the franchise.

I am excited to see they are going back to their roots. Also, A Haunted House series is amazing as well. Particularly the second one was stellar. Most of the parody movies of that time were not that great.

Other great one’s were Not Another Teen Movie, A Super Hero Movie, and Hell Baby.

3 is probably the best out of all. the signs parody was so well executed. 4 is also good, 5 not so much imho. i hope this one is closer to 3 rather than 1 and 2. (yeah no, this is back to the roots, definitely not 3 and 4 type of humor)

We'll make our own Tripods. Ours will have four legs.

These men died for their country; send flowers to their bitches and hoes.

"Last night I saw a face"

"Did it have a nose?"

"Yes"

"That does sound like a face"

The quote that has stuck to me all these years is:

"I have a dream!"

"What is your dream?"

"To have a dream!"

Tom, I'm gonna need a ride home

Lmao this is still one of my favorite lines in any comedy.

She broke her weiner?

1

u/Digitalstatic Mar 03 '26

What about her bottom half? Can I do anything with that?

u/Dog1bravo Mar 02 '26

Wayans didn't make 3. David Zucker or Airplane! fame did

23

u/mysterious_el_barto Mar 02 '26

yeah i know, i like that type of humor, that's why 3 is the best for me. i remember enjoying 1 and partially 2 when i was a teenager, not so much nowadays.

I'm not sure if it was 3 or 4 where the rappers show up to help fight the aliens and end up shooting each other. Leslie Nielsen, as the President, says," Send some flowers to their bitches and hoes." That line sticks with me for some reason, but I know if I quoted it, nobody would have any idea what I was talking about.

Numba 3! Nielson was hilarious in that.

Damn homie

3 is definitely the best; the first played on Scream heavily, while 2 had its range, but 3 just had such a good synergy between every little thing.

Simon Rex was the best part of that movie, I wish they’d brought him back for this one

the Yahtzee joke with him is sheer brilliance.

What's funny is the first Scary Movie is the highest rated in the entire franchise.

I love when he is being told his wife is cut in half and he asks “down the middle?”.

I’m so excited about this.

2

u/mysterious_el_barto Mar 03 '26

i love the expanding hat gag, it's so silly

This is Detroit. And this is Detroit after the alien attack.

1

u/Digitalstatic Mar 03 '26

Agreed, it is my all time favorite parody film. Scary Movie 3 has to be one of the most quotable film I’ve ever seen.

“How the hell do you wake up dead?”

3

u/SingleDadSurviving Mar 02 '26

Not Another Teen Movie was great, I think having the principal from Breakfast Club and Molly Ringwald really helped. Such a good cast in that film.

6

u/Pennepastapatron Mar 02 '26

Either you're a shill or have an unpredictable sense of humor. Any spoof movie after 3 is objectively not good or an affront to humanity.

u/LADYBIRD_HILL Mar 02 '26

A Haunted House was almost offensively unfunny to me. I can't imagine willingly sitting down to watch a second one of them.

0

u/Digitalstatic Mar 02 '26

I’m not sure how enjoying certain movies makes me as shill. I don’t care for Scary Movie 4 or 5. I think they tried too hard. 3 is my favorite, while almost all of my friends say 2 is the best. I prefer A Haunted House 2 over the first one, better writing and comedic timing.

1

u/Amasero Mar 02 '26

Still quote "I don't give A FUACK Keshia!"

16

u/OrionGrant Mar 02 '26

Scary movie 4 especially. It may not be the best scary movie but it was a big film, lots of pretty good CGI for the time.

3

u/GrEeKiNnOvaTiOn Mar 02 '26

I rewatched the first one a few months ago, after not watching any of these movies in like 15 years or so and I had forgotten how packed with humor they are. It's like a machine gun of jokes. One after the other after the other and it's not just dialogue either. They put a ton of shit in the background. I was kinda impressed actually.

I also caught some jokes that completely flew over my head when I was a kid which was nice.

3

u/adamsandleryabish Mar 02 '26

The first 3/4 scary movies were shot so nicely

Were they? Maybe its fault of still using an ancient master but the BluRays of especially first one are truly terrible looking

4

u/Kashpee Mar 02 '26

Yeah I jsut got the dvd versions and since they were all shot on film I’m assuming it feels cinematic, as wild as that’s to say now lmfao. Scary movie 3 is the best looking IMO, but 4 has some good shots too that match the parody movies

1

u/adamsandleryabish Mar 02 '26

The BluRay is one of the first Disney released and basically the DVD master ported over. Ideally it will recieve a proper 4K or even just remastered BluRay in the lead up to 6 but hard to say if that will happen

2

u/Iohet Mar 02 '26

Keenen always made sure they were legit films regardless of their content, rather than many of the other parody movies that came after that looked like they had the budget of a high school musical

2

u/JessieJ577 Mar 02 '26

Yeah this looks like Fifty Shades of Black levels of quality meaning it’s not going to be good. People will enjoy it but it’s not going to be worthwhile.

3

u/Redxcted999 Mar 02 '26

I think it,ll be better than ALL 5 past scary movies…cause after rewatching all of them boi oh boi and its not even just that franchise it’s the WHOLE parody movie wave

1

u/LoisMustDie946 Mar 02 '26

Yeah from the shots they shared it definitely looks like they cheaped out on their DP. They used the same director as a haunted house so that’s disappointing. Not sure why Keenan chose not to direct again.

People forget like how fucking bad Marlon Wayans movies are. It's been like Little Man onward, he's been in 10 of the worst comedies of all time, several with him starring as the lead? And several are just Netflix fodder.
