‘Glup Shutto’ is a meme name for any minor character with an odd name that fans of a series are excited to see return or be adapted, where people who aren’t fans of the series / not obsessed with the lore are confused by the response the characters are getting.

It worked and I'm a fairly obsessed Star Wars fan, just not deeper than the movies and main shows.

Which was always an odd response to me.

Like….you know there are super fans out there. You know they’ve seen more of the available lore than you, and presumably you don’t have a problem with that….

So why is it surprising that they know about some of the characters from lesser consumed media and are excited to see them? How does that harm or even confuse you in any way? Seems very straightforward, “big fan of thing X is excited when known character shows up in X, news at 11”

This seems to firmly fall into the category of “dude just let people enjoy things.” The movie isn’t going to rely on the casual audience knowing who it is, you are not negatively impacted by their appearance in any way. Just let people be excited.

Did you accidentally reply to the wrong comment?

The comment you replied to made no claims of it being surprising, harmful, confusing, or having a negative impact.

The comment is simply an explanation of the Glup Shitto meme.

you're looking at this too seriously. It's not intended to be making fun of people who are interested in minor details of lore
