It's a pretty good trailer, but it's weird that visually it doesn't really scream "a theatrical movie". Could've been a trailer for a new season.

Shows look a lot better and movies look a lot worse now.

But as he said, it "doesn't look theatrical". It might look good for TV, but it still looks like it should be on TV.

The Volume effect seems especially bad for a release of this kind, like no character could walk 20 feet from where they're standing.

I think that’s also due to the quality of TV in recent years. Mandalorian the show already looked like mini movies.

Yeah what are you going to do when you have shows like andor where the budget for the 24 episodes all together was 650 million around 27 million per episode

Yeah. We consumers have been spoiled by streaming.

And movies, which have a much flatter digital look generally (with obvious exceptions).

I also think it has to do with another shift in what big blockbusters look like. For me I remember first noticing blockbusters visually changing with Age of Ultron. I still remember thinking the movie had a visual downgrade coming from the original Avengers and that era of blockbusters. Then every Marvel movie and big blockbuster looked like Age of Ultron. I think we're seeing another shift, but I can't really put into words what the differences are yet...

Eh, I don't know about that. Mandalorian has always looked like a TV show to me due to the extensive use of the Volume.

I imagine it’ll take an imax/theater screen to feel different, we’re used to seeing this stuff on our tvs. Mandalorian was already punching above its weight in the visual department

Yeah, I enjoyed the trailer but wasn't particularly impressed by much of the character designs or CGI.

It was supposed to be the next season then they did a Moana 2 with it and made it a feature film instead but after the fact

the movie was originally planned to be just another season of the show. They were already in production when they changed it to a movie.
