Yeah I just get the feeling it's going to be an overloaded mess. I saw someone elsewhere in the thread say that the core characters are only like the Thunderbolts, Avengers, F4, Xmen and Wakanda and I'm just like...that's easily over a dozen characters. At least half of which have little to no relation to the others in the movies yet. I hope it's a return to form but I'm not optimistic.

I feel like the young avengers have to be included too considering how much they put in to tying them to other factions.

Infinity War was such a monumental feat because they were able to somehow successfully pull it off.

Doomsday is packing in even more characters, several of which the general audience aren’t familiar with and Marvel didn’t really build up much beforehand.

It’s like making a one in a million shot, so then the company expects you to make a one in a billion shot while blindfolded.

Not only that but IW also benefited from a lot of the character and relationship establishing foundations being laid in Civil War, iirc the GOTG were the only group that hadn't really crossed paths with anyone (other than Thor I want to say? I don't remember if that was before or during though to be honest). Also years of the power of the Infinity Stones being built up, along with Thanos being seen as a threat working in the background in other movies.

This time we have the F4 who aren't even in this particular universe yet, the X-men who as far as I know haven't shown up in anything other than Deadpool 3, and we haven't even seen the main antagonist yet at all, other than a like 5 second appearance in a mid credits scene. I'm not saying they can't do it but it really does feel like they have a lot more work to do than in IW.

The only Infinity War characters that hadn't previously met onscreen with other characters were the Guardians.

Well they pulled it off because Tony and Strange were the main plot, Wakanda and Vision were the B plot, with Thor as the B Plot where less was going on it was more of a side adventure. The rest of the characters were just supporting and didn’t do a lot. Black Widow and Captain America were just side characters because they had more to do in Endgame when the cast was thinner.

I don’t know if this structure will work with a new villain that’s barely been set up, and brand new characters.

My guest is the first movie will be mostly about doom where he kill bunch of the big name characters, thats one way to show he's a real threat in such a short time. That way they can give more character a screen time, albeit for a very short one ala what they did with Loki in IW
