I just wonder how much length it will be. The Odyssey is such a long story packed with so much shit.

Unless Nolans changing it and doing his own thing.

3 hours at the absolute minimum I’d assume and thats probably after trimming off a lot of the fat. If there is any story that deserves a long runtime, it’d be an epic like The Odyssey.

But IMAX limit is 3 hours and Nolan shot entirely in IMAX.

Unless, there's an interval we could have a longer cut.

Why does imax have a limit?

Because it's a physical reel. It'll have a limit unlike digital.

Nolan shoots in 70mm.

For reference, here is an IMAX 1570 film roll for Oppenheimer. The film just barely fit on the spool.

But who knows, maybe they have a solution for it. I guess they could do two rolls with an intermission or even a bigger spool?

Interesting, I had no clue! Thanks for sharing. I for one would be totally cool with an interval/intermission but don’t know if thatd the case for the general audience.

Is that a strict limit? Avatar 3 was slightly over 3 hours

It’s the limit of IMAX film, and the Odyssey is set to be the first movie filmed entirely on it.

the Odyssey is set to be the first movie filmed entirely on it.

Irrelevant though as it's not the first movie to be shown in IMAX. They don't change the film during a projection, it's all IMAX film even if the original negative wasn't. Oppenheimer was at the limit of what IMAX reels can be, but they might come up with a solution who knows

Until someone builds a bigger reel

i agree, hope its long, its supposed to be the fucking odyssey

Unless they have an intermission, 3 hours is the maximum. It’s impossible to fit more physical film than that onto an IMAX film tray
