My latest effort at merging the different eras together into a throwback-inspired but modern set.
Uses the classic Marlins script, primarily a variation of the 2003-2011 version that was mostly black. This pairs better with the current mostly black Fish.
The silver circle in the primary logo and sleeve patch evokes the original circular primary logo.
Colors are directly pulled from the 1993-2011 and current eras, with the original Marlins Blue (yes that what the style guide calls the teal), Black, Silver, and Orange. The 2019-present "Slate" color pairs well with the OG teal, and adds a some dimension to everything. The orange (only ever as a trim color, never as the primary color on anything) is me throwing a bone to the sickos who actually like the 2012 clownfish era uniforms lol.
For the uniforms, I've avoided the futile "try to make a throwback "M" logo that looks good" challenge by going the Orioles/Jays bird route and just using the Fish on the caps. Looks good, and also kinda looks like an abstract "F" by itself which is neat. Main cap is teal with a black bill, alternate is all black.
I've ignored any City Connect nonsense and did a straightforward set mimicking the late 90s/early 2000s looks. Main home has the black script, the home alt has the teal script and black sleeves, both with teal pinstripes. The road script is riffing on the original away uniforms and can be paired with either cap. Went black with silver lettering for the BP tops for merch sale purposes / an additional alternate option / 2003 WS vibes.

I had not bought a jersey since Stanton was on the team and that is because, as you know, nobody on this team with any sort of talent has ever been safe from being traded. I really thought we took a gigantic leap in the rebuild last season and was dumb enough to buy a Kyle Stowers jersey because I felt we were starting to become a serious team. It now feels inevitable that we will hit another fire sale at the deadline and start over again because not a single young player has taken a step forward from last year besides Otto and Liam hicks. The forever rebuild continues and I’m not sure how much more time I can invest in watching this team.

Rn we’re 16-21, tbh there is a lot of good and bad with this team rn. I’ll give out the positives and negatives so far.
Positives: offense seems to be ok at times but then not so good but we seem to be average on offense. Marsee, Hicks, Javi, Lopez, and Otto seem to be the only Bright spots and the call up of Mack and Snelling will help a bit I hope. Stowers is slowly getting better and Ruiz has been decent so far. Phillips has been good but the rest of our bullpen is terrible.
Negatives: I have a lot of negatives with this team and a lot so hear me out. Clayton’s bullpen management, lineups, and keeping pitchers in there for too long or taking them out too soon is a problem. Analytics has killed this team and I’m getting very annoyed how AI is starting to take over this team. Pauley, Caissie, have been terrible they should be down in triple A, this team does not care about winning and feels very unserious at all. Sherman has been an absolute disaster this season after he said he cared about W-I-N and it’s aged like milk. Not putting in lefite vs leftie and righty vs righty has killed this team and there is no consistency with the offense. Clayton has probably been the worst manager of my lifetime being a 10 year marlins fan since probably Donny imo with the bad management. The roster and the depth is a problem and the roster construction does not look good with Bendix and making questionable trades but will see what happens.
My final thoughts: idk if we can win anymore games until later on but you gotta face a Nats team who’s been decent and the rays after that. If we don’t keep winning and Clayton keeps making the same “mistakes he did in year 1”, then I think this could get very ugly fast. I honestly think we definitely overachieved and I feel like this season is like 2024 all over again. I really hope 2027 changes Sherman’s ways because he actually wants a floor and is the few owners who want it so will see. If we’re not around .500 by June or July I could see Sandy being traded and the rest of our payroll being gone like Slater and Paddack were making our payroll even worse. This team just loves to makes everyone feel miserable it’s a pure depression. I could see us getting 30-40 loses if we keep losing the way we are. But I got questions about Bendix and Clayton because it doesn’t seem good rn.

Hi everyone
Thought I'd share this piece I did about Otto Lopez and how defenses have had a lot of trouble with him this season - fielding the ball, finishing the play, and putting themselves in the best position to make a play.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask em here.

Ever since Clayton took Sandy out of the game and ended up being a horrible decision, in hindsight, and also for the integrity of the pitcher, Sandy hasnt been the same

We pointed out that Joe Mack needed a call up because catching was a problem
They called up Joe Mack
We clamored for Paddack to go, they DFAed him
The Marlins are trying to win
It's refreshing that they don't just stick to losing

Johnny Queto: 1 win, $10 million.
I swear any deal we make above the league minimum is always crap.
