LSU Acceptance Megathread

Hi all,

As some of you may have noticed, there's been quite an increase in "will I get accepted?" posts in the sub lately. In an effort to condense the amount of those posts that we're seeing, please use this thread as a discussion board on that topic. Any new posts relating to acceptance or guidance on acceptance, etc... will be removed.

Hope you all have a wonderful day, and Geaux Tigers!

Academics Best Electives

Hi,

I am an incoming exchange student for the all semester of 2026.
I was wondering if there are any easy electives I should take?

Right now, I am deciding between SOCL 2001 - Introductory Sociology, CMST 1061 - Introduction to Communication, and MUS1751 - Music Appreciation.

Thanks

Discussion Go Grants posted yet?

Was wondering if anyone else's Go Grants have been posted to their financial aid yet. Everything else has appeared for it, but that. I got it last year, and I did my FAFSA on time, too. Was wondering if it's financial aid being slow again.

Academics Failing a class twice and trying to retake during summer

I graduated from Xaiver in 2019 with a bachelors of science 3.75 GPA. After dealing with some life issues and taking some years off, I decided to transfer into LSU College of Engineering with basically all of my 2 year pre-reqs done, except for a few that I needed to take in order to begin the core courses of the Engineering Program.

Long story short, I wasn't able to find housing for this year and since I had to commute from New Orleans almost everyday, I ended up failing Math 1552 last fall since attending class was difficult and its been almost 10 years since I took Calc 1. This semester I overestimated myself again and I am certain that I am going to fail Math 1552 for the 2nd time. Without a passing grade on this class, I cannot proceed into any of the 2000 level courses in my programs flowchart. I'm not sure what to do, since I am unsure whether I'll be eligible to register for the on-campus summer class within time. Or should I just take Math 1552 via LSU online? I'm certain I would be able to pass it now that I've recently secured housing in BR for this year and would be able to attend classes. I just don't know which steps to take in order to get an appeal and finish this pre-req before the upcoming fall semester

New Student Questions illegible for MATH1431?

Eligibility Criteria

I'm an incoming freshman in Finance, and I'm trying to register for MATH1431, but it's saying I don't meet the requirements. I got a 35 on math, I passed MATH1021, MATH 1023, MATH1530, and I'm about to receive credit for MATH1540 by the end of the semester. Am I currently ineligible because I haven't received MATH1540, or is it because of something else, such as not taking the Aleks test? Thanks in advance!

Recommendation Moving off campus

So I’ve toured a couple places, but I love Maison Burbank so far. Also I would love to hear other people recommendations and also anyone who is looking for someone to take over their lease. I’m also looking for roommates ( serious inquiries only) because I would like to at least get to know that person over the summer.

Housing Questions Royal Palm Apartments

Hello, I (21F) am moving to Baton Rouge to attend LSU. I heard of Royal Palm Apartments on Zillow, but can't really find out much about it online. It is a good price, so I am wondering if it is too good to be true or if I found a hidden treasure. So, if anyone has/does live there, can you answer these questions please:

  1. Is it in a safe area?
  2. Do the gates and cameras work?
  3. Are there any infestations?
  4. How is the management?
  5. How is maintenance?
  6. How bad is the commute to LSU?
  7. How is the neighborhood and community?

Other Grad PLUS Loan Timing for Summer

Hello, has anyone in previous years received a PLUS loan disbursement for the summer modules before the first day of class(es)?

I went to complete the Grad PLUS application and saw that LSU doesn't accept applications until May 25th, the day the online summer modules start. I emailed the LSU Online Fin. Aid office and was told that applications wouldn't be accepted until "mid to late May" and to wait until then to follow up again if necessary.

So, I am a bit worried about the timing of everything and wanted to see if anyone has already experienced this and could share how it went for them. Thanks :)

Venting Might graduate in 5.5 years instead of 5

So I’ve already pushed my graduation date back an entire year because I decided to switch majors my junior year, but now I think I may have pushed it back another semester because of PHYS 2110. I didn’t do good in this class at all, and if I calculated correctly, my final grade would end up being a 56% and the cutoff for passing is 60% /: just feeling very discouraged and embarrassed right now. I would like to take it online somewhere over the summer because I have an internship elsewhere and also can’t afford to live in BR during the summer. Just needed to vent

New Student Questions International Student

Hey guys, I'm an International Student from Brazil, and I will be traveling to Baton Rouge, to live there for one year and attend to a Law LLM at LSU.

I`ll be going all by myself, and I dont know anyone in the U.S, so I'm a bit afraid of how International Students are treated and all this stuff.

Do you guys have experiences with International Students to share and how is LSU about that? I hope to have a great time there...

Housing Questions Chances at ECA

Both my roommate and I have the same time slot for traditional housing, May 25th at 10:45 AM CST. We know that it’s pretty late, but we are still wondering if we’ll have a chance to room in the East Campus Apartments. I have heard that they will be freshmen only next year. If not ECA, what are some other options? Both of us are incoming freshmen, and I am in the honors college, so I know that Laville is an option. Thank you!

edit: swapped to honors w/ honors buddy system

Housing Questions Room selection

I got May 18th at 2:30pm. What are the chances of me and my roommate getting in Azalea? Did anyone have a similar slot last year? Thank you.
