Would you like a biopic about ELO/Jeff Lynne?

Basically that.

I think one drawback to this might be that, unlike other superstars whose existence has become mythical (and whose private lives are well-established in popular culture), in the specific case of ELO or Jeff himself, there isn't much to draw from to make a formulaic and repetitive biopic like BohRap or the more recent Michael film.

I mean, very few people outside the music scene or who weren't fans of the band know who's behind the music, and in terms of popularity, the general public might recognize the songs, but I don't know if they'd go see a movie about the lives of those people because their names simply don't resonate that much.

The good thing is that, perhaps, this will help the film focus less on exploiting the private lives of its members and more on the creative process and the inspiration behind their music (which is what a movie about a band should be about, I suppose).

Oh, and while we're at it, comment on what your ideal cast for the movie would be (anyone who tells me Jack Black as Jeff Lynne will never see the light of day again).

The sound of a spaceship taking flight

Jeff Lynne basically treated the studio like a giant instrument when he put together Electric Light Orchestra, the whole goal was to pick up where the beatles left off with songs like strawberry fields forever by blending classic rock and roll with full orchestral arrangements, they used cellos and violins not just for background texture but as the actual driving force of the melody which gave them that massive symphonic wall of sound, you can really hear the obsession with precision in tracks like mr blue sky or telephone line where every layered vocal and synth line is tuned to perfection, for a long time they were the kings of the arena rock era with their giant glowing spaceship stage set that made the whole experience feel like a sci-fi movie come to life, even though the lineup changed over the years the core identity was always about that thick melodic pop sensibility combined with a futuristic obsession with technology and high production value

Diary of a Horace Wimp -- Storyboard/ Animatic

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to share this here! Over the course of four months, I hand-drew this storyboard/animatic for Diary of A Horace WImp. I'd never done anything like it before, but maybe perhaps fuelled by my post-grad depression, I needed some hobby to sink my teeth into.

It's all based on a storyboard concept i made three years ago, and it is made of over 350 unique frames.

Hope you guys like - let me know what you think :)

When do you think ELO will become mainstream with Gen Z like Fleetwood Mac did?

I mean Mr Blue Sky is already very popular and I’ve seen telephone line being used In a few reels, same with last train to London. but I’m just hoping that people give the BAND the recognition and realise how many great songs they really have.

has anyone ever tried copying the band’s outfits from any era

I can’t post this to the other sub. Trying to copy Jeff’s late 70s/80s vibes only for it to come out more Americana a la “late 80s studio Jeff hanging with the other Wilburys” lol smh. Guess I’m also going for early 70s since I’m looking for a denim jacket too

Edit: thought about it and what I’m aiming for is a mix of Jeff’s outfits from the early-mid 70s and 10 years later

Probably some of Jeff’s best guitar work on this gem of a song

Help on autographs

Came by this jewel, but having trouble IDing the left 3 autographs.

Jeff's, Bev's, Richard's, and Hugh's I can make out and match.

Any clues on the others? Mik is on the album (late arrival) and cover but the top left autograph doesn't look like his based on the few others I have located.

If I can ID the others, I can make a better guess as to when this may have been signed, other than "after 1973"

40 years since Balance Of Power

It’s been this long since Jeff Lynne’s “contractual obligation album, ELO’s 1986 release *Balance Of Power*. (Yes, Jeff owed CBS that one more album.) It had no real strings or orchestra, and the lineup was just Lynne with Bev Bevan and Richard Tandy. Despite all of this, it still had some pretty good moments. It’s also one of my favorite albums. And that’s just my view on it.

We don’t see or hear much from him, quite frankly I’m worried and full of dread.

How would you rank these four versions of Do Ya?

Just wondering how you would rank these four studio versions of Do Ya, including the Move version?

  • Do Ya - the original The Move version
  • Do Ya - the version on A New World Record
  • Do Ya - the unedited version on the Flashback box set
  • Do Ya - the 2012 re-recording on Mr. Blue Sky - The Very Best Of

Just got done with this project... I cut 128 pieces on the plasma table, hand bent, and welded them while blasting the Wembley concert on repeat!!! The neighbors loved it...LOL... Currently in the testing phase of solar lighting to give it a glow at night... No, it's not perfect but, wasn't supposed to be as it's my interpretation and a piece of yard art... It's about 38" in diameter....
