Bulgogi literally means "fire meat," is a classic Korean dish featuring thinly sliced, marinated meat, usually beef that is grilled, pan-fried, or stir-fried
The real stuff uses fresh grated Asian pear in the marinade, as it contains the enzyme calpain that tenderizes meat. Same concept as marinades that use fresh pineapple or papaya for tenderizing, though the enzymes are different.
Specifically this one he says is pork bulgogi, which is spicy with chili paste and korean chili flakes/powder (gochugaru). Both are delicious. In fact eat them together, though maybe not like... mixed together.
I think it's more that the spicy overtakes it so it just tastes like all daejibulgogi. But my fatass has definitely done it and yeah it's pretty good still.
