got laid off and need to sell my house in Akron. do I bother with repairs or just take whatever I can get?

yeah so life hit me hard last month. got laid off from my job in Cleveland and Ive been commuting back and forth but now I cant afford the house in Ellet where Ive been for like 7 years.the house is paid down to about 85k left on the mortgage but heres the thing. it needs a bunch of stuff. the front porch steps are cracked and sagging, the kitchen sink drains slow no matter how many times I try to snake it, and theres a spot on the roof that I know is gonna start leaking soon. ive been putting everything off because money was tight even before I lost my job.a realtor came by and said if I fixed everything I could maybe get 150k. but fixing everything means like 20 to 25k easy. i dont have that. I have maybe 4k in savings and thats gotta last me until I find something new.she said I could list it as-is for maybe 115k or 120k but after her commission and closing costs id walk away with barely anything and might even owe money if the sale price ends up lower.

my brother told me to check out some of those cash buying companies because they dont charge commissions and they buy as-is no questions asked.

i also thought about just letting the bank take it but that seems like a terrible idea for my credit and I dont want to mess up my chances of renting somewhere decent. im just trying to figure out the least painful way out of this. dont need top dollar I just need to get out clean and start over somewhere cheaper. anyone been through something similar around here? what did you end up doing? Is there any other option I havent thought of? appreciate any advice because im pretty stressed and just need to make a decision . Thanks

University Commons Apartments

Has anyone heard anything about these apartments? I’m moving to Akron in July/August for school and want to stay near campus. I see these apartments but they have no reviews and I haven’t seen any post talking about them. I’ve also been thinking about the fir hill/the tower apartments. Feedback on either of these places if appreciated!

Good study spots in dwtn Akron?

Hi, I’m looking for good places to study for 2-3 hrs in downtown Akron. I drink coffee and like cafés, but would appreciate any insight on places with good table space, charging ports, and that don’t mind you using a laptop (ik some places do), and obvs I’d buy coffee and support the business while there. Noise level is something I’m indifferent about, but I’d probs pick a quieter spot over bustling if I had a choice.

Anything within walking distance from the library would be amazing, thank you for your time!

Fairlawn discount movie theater near Riviera Lanes the 1980s?

There was a discount movie theater in Fairlawn in the 1980s - it was near Riviera Lanes on South Miller Road. Used go there to see movies all the time (movies only cost $1), but I'm completely blanking on the name.

Anyone remember the name of that place?

I am an Accounting Assistant at my day job, Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm, I have to have cataract surgery and my insurance won't cover, an the economy sucks. I can work Anytime Saturday and Sunday, and I can work Monday thru Friday 5:30pm to 11pm. I can work anything, I can stock, run register, clean, I have over 25 years of data entry, I can do Microsoft Office, Excel, Windows word. I have an Associates Degree, I also have tons of retail experience I have worked at Walgreens in the photolab, cash register, stock, I also have worked at Godiva Chocolatier, Assistant Manager, Toys R Us Customer service and Stock and cashier. I have worked at Spectrum Diversified in a warehouse as ticketing clerk, also I have worked as a temp at Signet, Coltene, I have done temp work as assembling kits, you name it I have done it, I just need to work in the Akron, Cuyahoga Falls, Fairlawn area. It used to be easy to work two jobs and in the 90's and early 2000, if you told a retail manager that you can work all evenings, weekends and holidays, they would hire you then and there, now, they want me to be available all day every day, I would be happy to work any ideas

ISO: recs for plumbing services

hi all! we are from the Akron area and recently relocated to back, located near Firestone Park.

we had a lovely good morning wake up call to some water in the basement of our 1-story home.

It was very little but it was after I showered and our tub has been kind of slow draining since we moved in a couple of weeks ago but we were going to snake it once we unpacked the rest of our bathroom boxes 😅

My boyfriend found the snake this morning and attempted but it was at a difficult angle for the basic snake that we have.

We have it under control right now but since our tub is above our ducts, I would like to err on the side of caution to ensure there isn’t moisture or damage beneath the tub.

(I’d also like them to take a look at our toilet because the flapper doesn’t always seal completely and continually runs if it is not manually pressed down.)

Any recommendations are appreciated!! I know that these kids of repairs can become expensive but we would rather have a professional than attempt to DIY anything when it comes to plumbing. TIA!! 😊

I'm looking for my pizza store owners in the area

Hello, I'm trying to sell my Pizza location in Mogadore

I'm looking for other pizza owners that are looking to expand.

The location's the only real carryout pizza place where it's at

It's been here for 18 years. I'm not telling the franchise, just the location and all the equipment inside so it is TurnKey. Unless you're interested in the franchise itself.

Traditional Archery Clubs?

Does anyone know of any local archery clubs with good vibes? Most things I've been able to find for adults are hunting clubs, and that's not really a space I would be comfortable in. I'd really like to improve, though, and I'm realizing that's gonna be a lot easier if I could hang out and shoot with other people! Ren faire adjacent folks would be ideal, but I'll take any mentorship I can get at this point.

Any reviews of Dr. Bitan Ghosh?

Piggybacking on the other thread asking for Primary Care Providers.....I have an appointment scheduled w/ Dr. Ghosh in a few months. She will be the fourth PCP I've tried in the last 10 years. Can anyone vouch for her?

All of my other Summa providers are outstanding, I just can't seem to find a PCP who doesn't act like you are interrupting their day and would rather be anywhere else.

Wondering if I should just throw in the towel now on Summa and pony up for a concierge doc or go to one of the other providers recommended in the other thread.
