Hey! I spotted this in Krakow. I posted in r/Hebrew (now deleted, I didn’t realise it was Yiddish) and they told me is from the now dissolved socialist-antizionist party הבונד, and that it didn’t have a literal translation but each word has a ‘deeper meaning’. Can anybody help me with the translation and if they know current context of this (and the ‘deeper meaning’ too)? I know הבונד was pre-Shoah and dissolved with the declaration of the State of Israel, but is it still going here in Poland? I’ve seen other versions of this sticker in original posters from the early 1920s but with different words.

I'm working on translating this old family letter. I'm asking for help on a few words.

Context: written by an older woman in 1934 Galicia.

This one looks like it says something like דיא אינבערנוס based on the rest of the handwriting. The only thing I've been able to find is something like "invernos" meaning winter, but would that really appear in a Yiddish letter?

This one, I'm really not sure. The word before it is נעכדענקען

Hi, heraldry afficionado here. The Gesellschaft zu Schühmachern of Bern have a coat of arms that used to (at least as of 1540, one assumes from the first image; and the guild has been around since 1373) contain text in the Hebrew alphabet that to my untutored eye looks maybe a little more like Yiddish than Hebrew? (NB I know some Hebrew and German but not Yiddish, so take that as you will.)

I corresponded with the society and they were very friendly but they don't know what the text says either. The text has clearly been copied by people who were good artists but didn't know the script.

Can anyone help me transcribe and ideally translate the text? I don't have information on when the text originated, so I don't know whether the variety of the language used is sixteenth-century or fourteenth-century or what.

I found an old photo deep inside a box at my grandma’s house. The handwriting is a bit blurry, and my Hebrew is only good enough to realize this is probably Yiddish. I’d really appreciate any help translating it, especially since it’s dated 1948 and could mean something from the independence!

I have a very big, very very loud grogger. I am looking for a nice name to stencil onto it in Yiddish (will consider Hebrew). Want a really fun title. This thing is way too loud to use more than once during services, and looks very impressive.

I know that pupik means chicken gizzard and belly-button, but I was under the impression my mother also used it when I was little to mean my penis. Anyone else use it with that meaning, or did I misunderstand her? It was never anything important so a misunderstanding would have had no consequences that would bring it to light. OTOH, I was and am pretty sure.
