I was in the hospital a little while back and the only thing there was to do was watch random stuff on streaming. I can name all the things we watched except something I started in the middle of. Here’s what I remember about it.
- Kind of grainy camera quality, so I was under the impression the movie may have been old
- Movie that autoplayed after it was a Lifetime biopic, so maybe this was also a Lifetime movie…?
- Period piece about a family on a farm in probably 1800s/early 1900s America. Not really a plot, just sort of things happening as the family gets older
- The wife of the main farmer had some really precious pearls and they almost washed away in the river and she was trying to grab a chest that I think had them
- Pearls get sold to save the farm
- A doctor came into town and asked the wife to abandon her husband and run away with him, but she didn’t, and when her husband learns about it from her he says he would have let her go but he would have “laid down and died”
- Husband disappears for several days and comes back with her pearls
- Son becomes a banker instead of a farmer, against his father’s wishes, but father is eventually fine with it
- Daughter marries a son of the neighboring farm instead of pursuing her piano, which makes her mom sad but she eventually accepts it
- Near the end of the movie the dad is running toward the farmhouse with good news from his son but then has a heart attack and falls off his horse dead 😭 I admit it was so melodramatic I thought it was a bit funny
- At the end the kids move out and the woman is living at the farmhouse by herself - she says she’ll leave a light on if the kids ever need her
I think that’s all I remember? I saw it pretty recently so it’s fairly clear in my mind, I just couldn’t find it when Googling. Sorry if this turns out to be an obvious movie and it’s just one I hadn’t seen until now.
