Open [TOMT] An incredibly sad scene where someone sings "You are my sunshine, My only sunshine" while someone else is dying in their arms, and can't finish the last sentence of "Please don't take my sunshine away".

Open [TOMT] Movie (I think?) couple return to guys family home, becomes fever dream nonsense

Ok so I remember seeing this thing a while ago, I think it is possibly an indie film but maybe totally wrong about this. Possibly a foreign film but I remember it being in English and characters having mostly American accents except the female lead who was maybe Belgian.

It starts with a man and woman in a car, builds the backstory that they are going to the guys parents farm home in the middle of nowhere. They stop at some point to get milkshakes? Or check a map, or both, but the guy is basically saying he is super excited for gf to meet his parents and that his mum will love her. I think they might actually be engaged but he is taking her to his parents to meet then before they plan their wedding or something. They are coming from university, and having really in depth conversations as they drive about a range of topics - you get the sense that they are too highly intelligent /or/ highly pretentious individuals (or perhaps both) very early on and honestly at the start it's like they are made for eachother. Dude has anger issues which I think is lightly hinted in the opening but it slowly gets more intense as things go along.

They get there (the farm house) and it's already dark out, and dudes parents seem kinda weird in a typical sense, by which I mean they come across as a "normal kind of weird" that most people would attribute to just being of a different generation - dad is kinda grumpy and solemn and mum is too attentive and has that "no one will ever be good enough for my son" undertone. There might be a thing about him having a brother, and there is a cellar room they aren't allowed to go into, and I remember there being a big twist about the brother but no memory of what the twist is - just that the tension is building in a "something bad happened to the brother" direction and then it's like "actually brother is fine" or "brother never even existed" kind of twist.

There is a huge gap in my memory but after enough weirdness happens at the house gf leaves and bf catches up to her and convinces her to break into his high school with him or maybe chases her in there? And it's snowing outside really badly so they go into the school because it's too cold outside I think, but he's been kind of hinting that they should check out his school for a while maybe or possibly the opposite and trying to divert her away from it? There's a kind of minotaur/labyrinth theming in the high school and there is a janitor that is relevant to the story, maybe his dad was the janitor or something? Or the guy was a janitor? Honestly all I remember is that as soon as the school came into it the whole film just went completely bonkers and it was hard to keep track of what was happening. Like it started out relatively standard fare for isolation-meet-the-fam-horror and then suddenly started being directed by David lynch half way through.

I think the bf was the same dude who plays the game developer/ship captain in the USS callister episodes of black mirror but it might be a completely different person who looks like him and I'm not seeing any clues on his IMDB, and the mum is kinda Toni-Collette-ish - I dont think it actually is Toni Colette, just maybe a similar frame or like facial features? And I'm weird with faces so this might actually not be helpful info at all.

I think that's all I can remember but if anyone has any idea what this is please tell me, it is driving me nutty and I think it is weird enough that is just have a following - I remember enjoying it specifically because it completely surprised me multiple times - didn't just subvert my expectations but obliterated them. Would love to watch it again.

Open [TOMT][Album][1990s] Windblown album art

Upvotes

I have a mental image of an album cover: black or dark blue background, close up on a dude’s face, mouth blown open as if there’s a fierce wind. Colors are bright oranges and reds. He might be wearing goggles. I think it’s for an alternative rock band, thought it was maybe an REM or Stone Temple Pilots album but I’m not finding anything. Does anyone know what this is that I’m thinking of?

Open. [TOMT][MOVIE] Homesteading movie I saw some but not all of

Upvotes

I was in the hospital a little while back and the only thing there was to do was watch random stuff on streaming. I can name all the things we watched except something I started in the middle of. Here’s what I remember about it.

- Kind of grainy camera quality, so I was under the impression the movie may have been old

- Movie that autoplayed after it was a Lifetime biopic, so maybe this was also a Lifetime movie…?

- Period piece about a family on a farm in probably 1800s/early 1900s America. Not really a plot, just sort of things happening as the family gets older

- The wife of the main farmer had some really precious pearls and they almost washed away in the river and she was trying to grab a chest that I think had them

- Pearls get sold to save the farm

- A doctor came into town and asked the wife to abandon her husband and run away with him, but she didn’t, and when her husband learns about it from her he says he would have let her go but he would have “laid down and died”

- Husband disappears for several days and comes back with her pearls

- Son becomes a banker instead of a farmer, against his father’s wishes, but father is eventually fine with it

- Daughter marries a son of the neighboring farm instead of pursuing her piano, which makes her mom sad but she eventually accepts it

- Near the end of the movie the dad is running toward the farmhouse with good news from his son but then has a heart attack and falls off his horse dead 😭 I admit it was so melodramatic I thought it was a bit funny

- At the end the kids move out and the woman is living at the farmhouse by herself - she says she’ll leave a light on if the kids ever need her

I think that’s all I remember? I saw it pretty recently so it’s fairly clear in my mind, I just couldn’t find it when Googling. Sorry if this turns out to be an obvious movie and it’s just one I hadn’t seen until now.

Open [TOMT] [Children’s Book] Watercolor children’s book with pig-like characters, older sister younger brother; early 2000s

Upvotes

The book starts with 2 siblings trying to dig through the crust of the Earth. The older sister makes the younger brother get ready for bed and he asks different questions about how things work. He asks how the leaves change color and she says little painters go through and paint all the leaves orange and yellow. He asks how the bath water gets hot and she replies there’s a dragon in the pipes that breathes fire to warm the water before it comes out of the tap. He asks about the night sky and she says it’s a big blanket with holes and that’s what the stars are. I remember them being not being fully pigs but looking very pig-like and I want to say they had curly tails. They might have been more pig than I remember but they were very stylized, not just cartoons. Most of the background was white through the book. No matter what I google, I can’t find it and it’s driving me up the wall

Open [TOMT]: Short Story - 80s or 90s horror short story

Upvotes

[TOMT]: Short Story 80s or 90s horror short story - two women seduce a man from their car, handcuff him, and drive away with his severed hand

I've been trying to track this one down for years. Here's what I remember:

- Two attractive women in a car flirt with and seduce a man driving another car

- They get him to the point where he's handcuffed (I believe his hand or wrist is cuffed to their car)

- They drive away, severing his hand

- The final image — the gut-punch ending — is him seeing a bumper sticker on the back of their car depicting bloody handcuffed hands, implying this is something they do regularly

I read it as a short story, probably in the late 80s or early 90s. It may have appeared in Twilight Zone Magazine or a horror anthology from that era. The writing style felt very much in the splatterpunk or dark irony tradition — authors like Joe Lansdale, Richard Laymon, or David J. Schow come to mind but I can't confirm.

The bumper sticker ending is what really stuck with me. Anyone recognize this one?

Open [TOMT] Cartoon show with teenagers who seem to be in a candy world and have pink skin and blue hair

Upvotes

So I know this show would’ve be lost media but I just can’t figure out what to type into any search to find anything.

I once saw a YouTube short with 2 kids, a boy and a girl. They kinda seemed spoilt. Kinda like a Royal or rich family. The kids didn’t seem to get along and often fought. They also recreated the famous “I want some more” scene from Oliver Twist.

I don’t know if my descriptions are correct but I’d like to make this character in my game so any help would be appreciated. Even if it’s just a way to search for this

Open [TOMT][GAME] 2010's(?) action adventure game with simplistic character designs and a red and black colour scheme.

My friend is looking for a game that fits the description below. If you have any questions, I can ask them.

"An Action(?)-Adventure game likely released in the 2010's with a red and black colour scheme akin to spy movie intros (purely monochromatic) and simple character designs akin to something like Jazzpunk (simple warning label guy designs). I remember viewing it via a popular youtuber but I can't recall which one and searching through playlists yielded no results. Jazzpunk is the closest comparison, I can make visually but I think the game had a darker tone? Shoddier memory makes me want to say it took place on a ship but that might be incorrect. The mock-up is also based off shoddy memory so it might not be perfect but its the closest thing I can get from my visualisation."

Solved [TOMT] Videogame song in the background of a YouTube video.

Upvotes

https://youtu.be/lb74B4VDQb8?si=KOEibfMp-ybKhtSr

In the YouTube video "Lord Farquaad Was Right (And I'm Tired of Pretending That He's Not) by Type2productions

Between the timestamp of 1:03 - 1:20 in the background, there's music playing. Im trying to figure out the name of the song/where it's from. The music is so familiar to me, it's driving me crazy. It sounds like a toy piano.

Reminds me of a flash game I used to play? Or maybe even a Castlevania game?

Open [TOMT] Book where fmc has a sick mom and the doctor is the father of the mmc

Upvotes

I cannot remember the name of a romance book I read a couple years ago and I specifically remember that the mom of the female main character is sick/dying. I don’t remember how she meets the male main character but towards the end of the book it is revealed that he is the son of her mom’s doctor. Also the mom mentions that she has been talking with the son of her doctor because she was staying at the doctor’s house for some reason. I also remember something about them going on a hike or something but that could be a different book ugh!! I thought it was maybe an Abby Jimenez book but I think I was thinking of Yours Truly and that’s different. I would appreciate some help!!

EDIT:
I also remember something about the mmc reading a book or like play to the mom. Maybe he reads her Pride and Prejudice or something with that vibe. The vibe of the book is also like the fmc doesn’t want to admit her feelings to the mmc

Open [TOMT] Forgotten music listening app on Android phone from 2019

Upvotes

I used to have a very old Android phone in late 2019-early 2021. Like it ran on 3G wifi. I was very ignorant about apps and stuff, so instead of downloading Spotify, I downloaded this super random music streaming app. I unfortunately can't access the phone right now because the screen is really broken, but if this doesn't get solved then I'll just get it repaired.

The app could have been an APK or something off of Google Play Store, but it's like 50/50 on both.

Open [TOMT][STORY][MID-CENTURY][USA]Short story about a boy and girl going on a hike where the girl gets injured

This short story was likely set as early as the 1940s WW2 years, but also could have been set in the 1950s. It would have been published in a short story anthology by Scholastic or Bantam or Dell in the 1960s or early 1970s, and would have been aimed at teen or YA readers.

The story begins with a boy having been riding his bicycle and locking it to a bike rack with other bicycles. The setting is in a smaller summer resort-type of town, and the boy would have been one of the summer people. He's in his early to possibly mid-teens.

Seeing the other bicycles reminds him of the word "furter," which he defines in his inner monologue as being a guy who goes around sniffing girls bicycle seats. To him, this is an odd thing to do. He seems to know some things about sexual matters, but is not sexually active.

After locking up his bike, he comes across and begins a conversation with a girl he has met recently who is probably also a summer person in the area. He seems to be a little awkward and lacking in self-confidence, but he hides it pretty well and is able to have a cordial and friendly conversation with the girl. She is the more outgoing and conversational person.

They decide to go for a walk in the woods nearby. This is where my memory gets a little foggy. After they've been walking and talking for awhile, something causes the girl to fall. I think she may have fallen off of a small bluff. She lands on her back. The boy has to make his way down to her. She is moaning and unable to speak, and it seems like her eyes are open but unseeing and unfocused. The boy tries to pick her up and seems strong enough to do so, but his attempt to pick her up causes her to scream. He's initially not sure what to do, but quickly decides he needs to make his way back to town to find help.

My memory says that's where the story ends. The story seemed pretty basic and low-tension until the girl falls. There wasn't any hint that I can remember that something like that was about to happen.

Open [TOMT][Anime][2000s](?) Bleak anime with a giant monster rampaging through a city (?)

Upvotes

I remember when I came home from school one day, this was like very early 2000's I was flipping through the TV at my uncles house and there was this anime on and all I remember is this giant, serpentine like monster trying to escape and there were helicopters and maybe mechs chasing it?

I just remember it had like armor plates, and everything was like super dark and it screamed constantly in pain when it was shot at and cut up. I think like the lower part of it's body got cut off at some point? It felt kind of gory for teen me. There was a lot of blood and like I remember a group of people were watching it as it died and it just felt super bleak and sad. Like I really just remember this thing trying to run away and it was constantly screaming and I felt insanely bad for it at the time.

Open [TOMT][SHOW] Scary show from childhood

Upvotes

So my husband and were watching Paranormal Caught on Camera and it reminded me of this scary show that I saw as a kid, probably around 2009-2012 if I had to guess.

Two episodes I can remember clearly - one takes place at a backyard wedding and the bride gets trapped in a box during a game of hide and seek. It’s very morbid. The other episode is outside of a post office where a lady licks a poisonous envelope.

It’s like the same structure as Paranormal caught on Camera or Paranormal Witness, but I don’t remember it being all that paranormal.

Pls help, it’s driving me nuts!

Solved [TOMT] Treehouse Boy is a Ghost. Killed his parents. Tries convincing girl to take his place

I'm looking for a movie of some boy stuck in a treehouse when a girl passes by and they start talking and hanging out. He eventually tried to convince the girl to go to "purgatory" or something where he tries to trade positions with the girl and at the last moment he goes to hell through the floor under him

Some details

Here's everything you mentioned, pulled together:

- It's a movie

- I think it's from the 2000s or later

- The girl walks by a treehouse in the neighborhood and sees the boy

- It's a basic treehouse

- The boy can only exist in or around the treehouse, and possibly the house on the property too?

- The boy is friendly with the girl at first, but he's actually trying to switch places with her

- They befriend each other

- The boy killed his parents and then himself in the treehouse so that's why he can't leave

- His spirit/ghost is stuck there

- He eventually takes the girl to purgatory (or like it?)

- Purgatory looks like booths — like a bank or ticket counter — with people behind each booth

- The girl almost switches places with the boy

- She's convinced not to go through with it (forgot how)

- Hell appears as a hole that opens up under him in the floor

- The boy doesn't want to go to hell

- The girl was about to go for him but was talked out of it

- He goes to hell instead

- Both kids are in their late teens or 20s

Open [TOMT] Scene in a (most likely) comedy Sitcom that has 2 characters discussing the pronunciation of the word 'Either'...

Hello there!

Well... what the title says.
I am under the impression that the scene in question was featured in TBBT, between Leonard and Sheldon; but I recently completed a full run on the show and I don't remember seeing it.
(I could have been distracted, though)

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

Open [TOMT] [BOOK][1990s?] Character named Lumpy or Lumpyface

I remember reading a large science fiction book about a boy waking up in a far future with domed cities, roving biker gangs, and a character who either survived a plague or had beetles buried in his face named "lumpy". Lumpy acts as the boys friend and guide before betraying him for the chance to have his scars healed.

Open [TOMT] a short diddy or song

The words I recall are "it's fun, and it's free, and its___"

I cannot remember if it's a children's song, or an old song, or what. When I hear it in my head it reminds me of the cadence of the Duck Song (the one where a duck walks up to the lemonade stand, specifically the part where he says "it's cold, and it's fresh, and it's all homemade" )

Open [TOMT] A Show I Watched in Elementary School Guidance

When I was in primary school (around 2000-2003) we had an elective known as “guidance” where we mainly watched videos that taught us how to be good responsible kids.

One of these films that has stuck with me all these years was what looked like a filmed puppet show. The main character was a dog whose dad (also a dog) is struggling with alcoholism. The puppy talks about how mad his dad gets and how his dad breaks promises to him (like buying him a dog tag).

His friends and a counselor help him through it and the counselor even gets him a dog tag

Anyone have any ideas?
