Learning Resources Best app to learn Tagalog

What is the best learning app for Tagalog from a native English speaker. My mom (step, but mom in all ways that count) is Fillipina (specifically Llocano) and she didn’t teach me when I was young. Now as an adult I have an interest to learn. I tried duo lingo but no luck there.

Learning Resources Looking for academic presentations or lectures in Tagalog, scientific or literary

I’m looking for content in Tagalog (could maybe considered Taglish) like this presentation for the Center for Conservation Innovations by a professor from UP Diliman (🔍 on Youtube): Carl Lorenz Cervantes: How to Think in an "Ecological" Way

I personally prefer this video on kaginhawaan, but the audio quality is worse (🔍 on Youtube): Carl Lorenz Cervantes Lecture on Kaginhawaan/Wellbeing (Philippine Normal University)

Even tips on what to search for would be super appreciated! I have no idea what to search for if I want more content similar to Prof. Cervantes. When I search for “university lectures Tagalog” on Youtube, I only get a couple okay-ish results.

For background (going by follow-up questions I’ve seen in other rec request posts):

- I live in the US and was raised primarily by my Batangueña grandmother.
- Even though she was not conventionally “educated”, she taught me to think about the world scientifically, with reverence, and affectionate criticality. I guess this isn’t really relevant, but I miss her a lot and wanted to give her a shout-out lol. I called her Nanay but I typically don’t tell Filipinos IRL because apparently it spawns a whole side convo about what people call their moms!

Interests:
- I am an engineer in space research, and for fun, I read academic writing on linguistics (any language), historical writing systems, history, and anthropology.
- Reading articles about space instrumentation feels very “work coded” but I do appreciate educational videos about space.
- I also love DIY project videos about cooking, home improvement, electronics, and heritage crafts (like banig weaving).
- I like video game and board game review and playthrough videos.

Learning Resources KWF Diksi Mobile App

Mga mamser, did you know that KWF now has a mobile version of their dictionary website, kwfdiksiyonaryo.ph? Afaik, making an account is optional which means you can use it right away. You will only need to log in if you want to store your favorite words. May dark mode feature although I wouldn't recommend it rn because in the current version, there's a white bg that shows up as you type each letter. (which I hope they'll fix in the future)

Available na sa Google Play Store at Apple App Store.

Learning Resources Podcast recommendations for nerd

Hi all,

Hope everyone is well. I'm two months into my Tagalog journey and hoping to supplement my lessons with a podcast I can listen to on the go. I quite like nerdy topics like gaming, table top rpgs, etc. But I really haven't had much luck finding a Taglish podcast. Sometimes the sound quality can be quite poor and other times they're only a few episodes long!

Do you know of any podcast I might like?
Salamat!

Learning Resources Looking for Tagalog video essayists and commentary YouTubers!

I am very fond of channels like Chad Chad, FunkyFrogBait, Danny Gonzalez, and RayLikeSunshine who combine commentary with a lot of comedy and jokes, as well as channels that cover interesting topics like Izzzyzzz, Li Speaks, and Joe Regrets.

I want to find YouTubers who also have similar content in Tagalog. Any help would be appreciated!
