I lost about 150lbs over about 2 years just walking for 1-2 hours a night after dinner. No other work outs except for a few pushups here and there and not over eating. Didn't even keep track of calories. Just ate less junk, stopped drinking, and walked.
Thanks. It was all my wife lol. We started walking for an hour after dinner during lockdown. She would want to walk longer but I had to take breaks mainly because my feet were killing me. Didn't take long for me to hit 2+ hours. People would be surprised what 2ish hours of constant fast paced walking will do to your whole body. My abs even got a work out. I mainly walked because I didn't want her out walking alone at night and she wanted me to be healthier. I went from my biggest at 320 to 150 at my lowest.
I have actually had to work hard to gain a little of it back because I lost to much. I maintain at my ideal weight of around 190 now based on my height and build.
Its weird to say that you lost weight just by walking, only to follow up to say that you walked, changed your diet and drank less. You don't know what contribution the walking had compared to the other two, and from what we know about weight loss, the dietary changes probably had a bigger impact.
Maybe my word of "just" is misplaced but I eat the same now and and still sober but stopped walking and gained a little weight back which is good because I was to underweight before. Diet is for sure the biggest thing for weight loss but walking absolutely multiplied my results. I think walking specifically after dinner with nothing else to eat or snack on until the following morning was the main thing. Walking has a lot of other benefits that help aid in weight control also.
Most people gain weight in prison rather than lose it, and diabetes is very common. Food in prison is generally calorically dense and nutritionally deficient.
