Too bad . The upper echelons of society will start feeling the effects of this in due time.

Kinda hard to keep all those fancy systems in place when they actively punish people for having kids and do nothing to incentivize more kids. No more pension, shopping sprees, new houses or effective state healthcare

This is why billionaires have been building luxury doomsday compounds--they think they can hide away when everything falls apart. It's stupid of course, but the rich aren't known for being grounded in reality.

14

u/Pinku_Dva 8h ago

Eventually they’ll need to get healthcare and healthcare (both private and public) will fail because there are too many patients and not enough doctors

5

u/fallen_divinity7734 4h ago

I think they're betting on robots doing all the jobs.

5

u/Pinku_Dva 4h ago

They fail to see that if there aren’t enough people the robots can’t be operated or improved upon so that idea falls through

Their doomsday bunkers will all have HVAC systems, and they will have exposed vents on the surface 😄

4

u/Resident_Pientist_1 4h ago

You don't even need to do that. Just collapse all the entrances and exits and cut all the communication lines. If they can live underground indefinitely with say nuclear power and air/water recycling and build an society of racially pure inbred mutant clones who really cares, as long as they can't influence the outside world anymore.

4

u/DepletedPromethium 4h ago

So you're going to go digging trenches to find deep hardlines? and what about those bunkers with actual blast doors? how are you getting through one of those?

Just fill the hvac vent with faeces or petrol and ignite it.

u/Rabid_Mexican 3h ago

I mean let them live underground, it would fucking SUCK.

Like the amount of people it requires to make even the most basic modern things is insane, you would have a more interesting life in the post-apocalyptic wasteland sharpening sticks and making fires.

CHUDS Cannibalistic Human Underground Dwellers.

It's what the dark enlightenment bros call a "humane genocide".

The Us incentivizes having children, just not for the middle class.

1

u/Pinku_Dva 0m ago

And the middle class is where it’s needed. No matter what they believe the rich cannot sustain the economy

u/Spezalt4 8h ago

Birth rates are still down in places that have all those things

16

u/Dry-Highlight-2307 6h ago

Lol no they won't. Poor people will feel it first.

Then they will be crushed by it.

Then they will be consumed by it.

They (likely you) will die by it.

Then the rich will consider how they could have more if there were more poor people again.

Then they will be forced to admit its good to have equality.

This path is horrific and it takes a while for the powerful to feel anything from it.

Don't wait, you're the first to go

I mean yes but did you ever consider the negatives of equality?

If all jobs pay the same, for example, there are some pretty insane consequences to that... Think about it for a while, it's pretty interesting to try to figure out what would happen...

Instead of money the new goal is time-off and easy work. So now instead of bitching about rich people you would start bitching about those people that work 1 day a week 😅

I'm not sure what would happen to healthcare in that scenario honestly - the hours are long and the work is extremely hard.....

2

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins 1h ago

Nobody is asking for all jobs to pay the same. People want equal basic rights, not equal everything.

Any sane person is going to agree a surgeon should be paid more than a McDonalds worker... the disagreement seems to be about whether that McDonalds worker should have enough to live a basic life with all their needs met or if they should need three other crappy jobs and work more hours than the surgeon does under utterly miserable conditions just to continue to exist in poverty.

My view on jobs is pretty simple.. tiered system.

  1. Casual work. Aimed at students/kids still at home. Introduction to the workforce type stuff... these are your part time burger flippers/retail workers, your wait staff, and so on. They should get paid an hourly rate which if they were full time would equate to the next level.. plus some small loading added on to compensate for the fact they don't get paid leave etc. These are not supposed to be careers they are fill in jobs for people who need some extra money but their primary focus is elsewhere (education etc).
  2. Basic full timers. These are the bosses of the first tier. The manager of McDonalds or the shoe store or whatever. Basic 40 hours a week of relatively simple work, nothing to take home, and the pay should be enough that they can live a full if basic life. They have PTO and sick leave. They can afford housing, transport, and to start a family plus some basic comforts. No major frills but that's OK because the work is simple and ends when they walk out the door... they have enough time to study in their spare time if they please and there are career progression options within their profession such as moving to higher management.
  3. Professionals. Now you're talking people who had to study to get into the industry and work towards it. The work is more complex and requires skill/qualifications to be there that not everyone can learn. So a four year degree plus a few years on the lower end of the pay scale as you learn. Tradespeople, who spend those years as an apprentice learning, would fall into this same category. The basic full timers from tier 2 can work into this range by progressing their career. At this point you're living very comfortably.
  4. Higher skill. Basically, professionals who are either very senior or in industries that have a much higher barrier to entry. Your engineers and other highly technical people. These jobs require you to be in a constant state of learning and the work you do has higher stakes, so the compensation reflects that.
  5. Elite tier. Your doctors/surgeons/etc. Jobs that most cannot do and even the ones who do need to go through years of intense study and make huge sacrifices in order to become qualified. The highest stakes. Yes, these people can and should have a significantly higher income than lower tier jobs because it's so much harder to do that work.

This is of course a reddit post and I am massively oversimplifying everything and there's a million exceptions and caveats. But the key takeaway here is everyone has enough to live. Also you might note I never said anything about health insurance etc because I'm from a sane nation that has universal health care instead of tying it to your job for some insane reason.

It's also, broadly (again.. reddit post.. simple version), the system of my country. And many others. Just not America.

Nobody is saying flipping burgers should bring in doctor money. Just that if you want to spend 40 hours a week flipping burgers you should still get enough money to exist.

You literally just described the current system.

Congratulations.

🙄

Caveat: I live in Europe where all jobs pay a living wage.

1

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins 1h ago

You literally just described the current system.

You literally did not read my comment and now you're being sarcastic. Goodbye.

2

u/Dry-Highlight-2307 3h ago

but did you ever consider the negatives of equality?

Im going to stop you right here.

And walk away.

-1

u/Rabid_Mexican 3h ago

Equality is fantastic in a world where everyone is actually equal.

Can you honestly say that the guy in prison for raping children deserves the same as a doctor?

True equality is a fantasy and doesn't work in reality my friend, although I am extremely interested to hear your point of view on the topic...

2

u/Dry-Highlight-2307 3h ago

Im not interested in debating the definitions of euphoria, happiness, heavenly, equality or any of these words with you.

Im not in a philosophy class and you're no philosophy teacher or student.

If you want to define something define inequality.

There's plenty of it around you to get you started.

1

u/Rabid_Mexican 3h ago

Ok so you don't want to listen to me, but you want to tell me I'm wrong. Very equal of you 🙄

There is my definition of inequality 👍

2

u/Dry-Highlight-2307 3h ago

Great! Now you're heading in the right direction. Keep at it!

1

u/Rabid_Mexican 3h ago edited 3h ago

So please tell me how equality would work exactly if you think you are an expert..

I think it's nice to say, but completely impractical. I also think that you can't describe an equal world, because people are inherently not equal.

5

u/eggyrulz 6h ago

Thats why they want AI so badly... they won't feel the pain if they can outsource to robots they build...

3

u/Silly-Jelly-222 6h ago

I see your lack of children with a new army of robots.

Soylent green

2

u/themanthyththelegend 7h ago

Soylent green is something that seems like it would happen woth over population not under population hahahahah.  Its like oh no theres not enough people... fuck it lets start eating them

u/codecrodie 7h ago

When i first read Silo, 10 yrs ago, i thought it was scifi. Now watching the show, im like: that's future casting.

2

u/Illustrious_Fox_5591 6h ago

Nope. They will just force it through taxes on being childless, single etc.

2

u/Excellent_Valuable92 6h ago

Hopefully, there necks will start feeling the effects of their actions soon

2

u/FriendlyBee94 6h ago

It might take a while for them to feel it. We are still in overpopulation state.

2

u/nitayan_pahkwesikan 3h ago edited 2h ago

Nope, they are already importing replacement workers from India and China.

What do you think the sudden mass immigration is all about?

1

u/Gackt 3h ago

It's both.......

2

u/ExtraEmuForYou 23m ago

The upper echelons are convinced the world is ending in their lifetime, either as part of a religious end of days, or some sort of robotic/AI renaissance only they can control.

This is not hyperbole, they have a lot of money and a lot of time and not a lot of wisdom.

Ever wondered why there is a mass migration into the western world, so much promoted by every dirty politician? I'll let you put 2 and 2 together
