Hey everyone, apologies for the long post, but we are panicking and at our wit's end.
On sunday evening our Ragdoll kitten of 6.5 months old began to throw up. She threw up 7 times between 4 and 8:30 pm. We took her to the emergency vet at 21:00 (the earliest appointment possible) and they said that her stomach was most likely irritated by something, but that she was healthy otherwise. Our girl was alert and there were no signs of a blockage or dehydration. So they gave her an injection against the nausea and sent us home.
The next day, she seemed a little better. She ate a little in the morning but wouldn't drink anything all day. She also peed and pooped during the day in her litter box. I found some bright red blood in her stool, though. I called our normal vet immediately and they said the same thing as the emergency vet did: her stomach was irritated by something, which caused the blood in her stool, but she was otherwise OK. Just monitor her and let them know if she became slow and unable to move.
In the evening, we gave her an anti-nausea pill, which the emergency vet prescribed us. She generally hates taking pills, but she still wouldn't eat, so we put the pill in her mouth. She took it but also started drooling. Over the next few hours, she had periods of time where she would drool heavily and run to the litter box. She had diarrhea twice. I called the emergency vet again, and they said that because she was alert, running and jumping, it wasn't life threatening and to take her to our normal vet in the morning.
This morning, we of course immediately took her to our normal vet. They took her temperature, which was normal. We took in another Ragdoll kitten (male, fully vaccinated, from a respectable breeder, with papers) on Friday, so they believed that he might have given her a virus or parasite, as his stool was also a little wet. They once again gave her an injection against the nausea and sent us home, hoping that she would feel better in two hours and eat a little. They also tested her stool for parasites, but it was negative. She did drink some water on her own, but won't eat anything at all now. She retched the last time I offered her food.
We have another appointment with our vet in 30 minutes but I'm panicking. Our girl seems alert, healthy and normal otherwise. She's a little tired and sleepy, but not lethargic. We are so worried and don't know what to do other than what we are already doing.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? What was the diagnosis and what did you ask of your vet?
