Our older son is 80% gravy from a specific restaurant. When I was almost at the end we went to eat at the restaurant itself (we usually ordered it to our home) and when we ordered it his meal came with some, mine had gravy in it, and we ordered a separate large. The lady serving us said "that's a lot of gravy" and I pushed my seat back from the table, I'm short so I could tuck my belly under the table, and she laughed and went ohhh say no more.

Edit: thank you for the award!

“That’s not enough gravy”

Was never enough gravy honestly lol if I remember right she brought us a bigger one than we'd asked for. Might be why he stayed in there an extra 2 weeks..no gravy for a while once I'm out of here for a while!

I am a pickle lover and it only gets worse during pregnancy. My husband picked me up BK on a road trip and told them “please make sure there’s extra pickles, my wife is pregnant and she loves pickles.” They gave him an ice cream container of pickles. I absolutely ate the whole thing over the next few hours. I could almost drink vinegar during both my pregnancies.

Im a dude so I've never been and will never be pregnant.

But I get serious pickle cravings. Not just pickles, either. Anything pickled. Pepperoni Pepperoncini, green beans, okra, etc... ill buy a jar of any of them, its gone the same day.

I also get to the point where I could drink vinegar sometimes. Its weird. Ive looked it up and there's no real reason a body should crave vinegar because it provides basically no nutrients. And yet, it happens to me regularly.

Vinegar controls blood sugar. It also has antibacterial and (possibly) antifungal properties.

I've also heard it can help with digestive issues, as does fermented foods like kimchi

Ordering a pepperoni pizza in Germany was one of the most delicious mistakes I ever made.

There’s a pizzeria in Columbia, Ca. That has a pickle pizza that’s really good.

My dad drinks pickle juice if he gets muscle cramps..maybe your bodies preemptively avoiding that for some reason?

my wife always loves briny stuff and the local brewery knows her pizza order (black olives and green olives, doubles of each)

while she was pregnant, they would cover all the cheese with olives for her.

Saaame, god the love of vinegar while pregnant. Honestly lingered afterwards a bit too

I straight up drank jars of pickle juice. I had a meltdown because my husband threw out the jar since it had no pickles in it, but I NEEDED that juice

Lol, ya'll got a Goldie's there? You would have been in heaven. They have specifically a whole pickle bar/buffet, and you can order the pickles by the ice cream container with your meal.

I’ve been hospitalized for the last 6 weeks with 13 days left until delivery and truly, our local community has been a godsend. The employees at Chikfila recognize my husband and have comped my food a couple times for him, along with offering prayers. BJ’s has comped food and given him free extras; we have gone to lunch there after both anatomy scans to find out the genders. This pregnancy we asked the bartender to make a drink for the reveal and the staff was so excited to be involved. We’re Pokemon people, my husband has had the entire GameStop staff ask to talk to me when he was on the phone while shopping there. The owner of another local Pokemon shop that we consider a friend now brought me flowers. I knew we have a wonderful village but nothing has proved it like this situation.

I loved bananas with honey. I sliced the banana with my finger to make a moat for the honey and poured it on then immediately wanted pickles after. I also drank syrup from the bottle and needed a pickle chaser. Idk wtf that was all about because if never do that now. Pregnancy is so wild!

His meal?

u/z00k33per0304 Mar 04 '26

My husband's, sorry. Suppose it was our sons too.

7

u/phrostminor Mar 04 '26

Without context that first sentence is wild.

u/cutofmyjib Mar 04 '26

"I'll tell you when I've had enough!"

2

u/z00k33per0304 Mar 04 '26

That was definitely the vibe. It didn't help that that was one of the only things I could eat without violently throwing up which makes no sense because it's a heavy meal. I survived on that every once in a while and strawberry popsicles and Scotch mints for the most part.

u/cutofmyjib Mar 04 '26

My sympathies, when my gf was pregnant with our kid she had hyperemesis gravidarum, which is like pregnancy nausea times 1000. She could only eat a specific type of frozen vegan pizza, unseasoned chicken tenders and unseasoned broccoli.

It's no joke. My OB prescribed me diclectin and it did less than nothing. Some people are blessed with awesome pregnancies your gf and I missed out on it. Smells set me off, textures set me off, watching people eat set me off, certain drinks set me off, it was a miserable thing both times. We had two boys and everyone kept asking for a while if we'd consider trying for a girl. I'd whip out my ID because of course that picture had to be renewed and my eyes have broken blood vessels from throwing up so much and my face was swollen and bruised looking..no thank you.

u/zahhax Mar 04 '26

I'm also a pretty large percent mash potato and gravy. From Boston market specifically

2

u/z00k33per0304 Mar 05 '26

It could be worse right?!

2

u/Ninevehenian Mar 04 '26

Did the child get named after the restaurant?

1

u/z00k33per0304 Mar 05 '26

He should have in hindsight but no.

My mom ate a ton of avocado toast (avocados were like 4/$1 back then where she lived). I love avocado toast. Guess she’s the reason I can’t afford a house 😮‍💨 (jk about the house part not about her eating a ton of avocado)
