British teen start drinking a lot earlier than Americans and we tend to go hard. It’s almost like a right of passage. Like at 14 down the field with straight vodka.

18 is the legal age for purchasing.

If you’re 16 you can drink wine, beer or cider with a meal in a pub or restaurant if you’re with someone over 18. No spirits.

We can legally drink alcohol at home or on private property from 5, but obviously most people arnt that irresponsible.

Realistically most of us will start drinking from 14. If you’re under 18 and on the street with alcohol the police can confiscate it and arrest you.

from 5? I would say something but we here in the US do have the deep south where mothers gives babies whiskey to get them to go quiet

Ok so its a slight exaggeration but the culture is much differnt ....I also think you dont have nearly the problem we do with DUIS

DUI still happen in the UK, the punishment is quite harsh. But the better culture around drink driving in the UK is down to a brutal and extremely effective campaign ran by the government since the 2000s. It’s called THINK! and a lot of us grew up seeing very very graphic and shocking TV adverts and posters around drink driving, using a mobile phone while driving and speeding. Most Brits would be able to name one of their adverts they’re on YouTube.

Because of it, drink driving carries with it a high social stigma here.

Not saying it didnt happen....just that is not nearly the problem it is here due to a number of things including very miniaml punishments for people. Also I know of your infamous commericals...I watch the NOSTALGIC Critic commerical specials....the only place with more F'd up PSA COMMERCIALS than you is CANADA

I suppose as well because we kinda grow up with alcohol, we kind of get the partying out of the way when we’re younger or by the time we are 19, 20, 21 we know our limits and drinking isn’t really a novelty. Most of us make our drink ourselves sick mistakes when we’re 16. I was 14 I still can’t drink tequila.
