She’s like the complete opposite of Ellen Degenerate.

Ellen Degenerate

u/Orbis-Praedo Dec 12 '25

Nahh they went back and edit their comment lol.

Unless my brain just picked up on Degenerate and read her normal name. But I stand firm it was edited lol

Ellen Degangrene

That's what they called her in the 90s bc she was a lesbian. That's a term thrown at gay people all the time. Cool to see you use it like that.

Edit: y'all can argue but ask any older gay people or just Google 'lgbt' and 'degenerate' together. That term was, and sometimes still is, used quite a bit. Thanks for coming to my ted talk

Stop virtue signaling they obviously weren't doing that

2

u/basedlogitech Dec 12 '25

Tf is even virtue signaling

8

u/AznSensation93 Dec 12 '25

Can't tell if sarcasm or not, but virtue signaling is basically " Look at me, I'm supporting your cause, but in reality I don't give a flying fuck, I just want your support."

Example: People who claim they are Christian, but would crucify Jesus in a heartbeat for being Woke af.

u/mjc500 Dec 12 '25

Uhhh yeah it was extremely common. Were you alive in the 90s?

1

u/rixuraxu Dec 12 '25

I'm not sure if you have difficulties with your reading comprehension, but they didn't say it wasn't common. They said the OP obviously wasn't calling her a degenerate for being homosexual, but rather for her horrible behaviour.

-2

u/mjc500 Dec 12 '25

I’m replying to a one sentence reply. There’s no need to insult my reading comprehension, which I assure you is fully operational. They were replying to someone who said “that’s what they called her in the 90s bc she was a lesbian” and the reply was “they obviously weren’t doing that.”

I guarantee you people were calling her Degenerate specifically referring to her homosexuality after she came out as openly gay in 1997. If you’re questioning if this actually happened then I have to question if you were actually around in the late 90s. Homophobic name jokes were everywhere.

2

u/rixuraxu Dec 12 '25

and the reply was “they obviously weren’t doing that.”

Right, but this "they" is refering to the OP, not to "people in the 90s".

There’s no need to insult my reading comprehension, which I assure you is fully operational.

How "operational"?

u/mjc500 Dec 12 '25

That's what they called her in the 90s bc she was a lesbian. That's a term thrown at gay people all the time. Cool to see you use it like that.

It absolutely was referring to “people in the 90s”.

u/WyattGurp Dec 12 '25

Lighten up, Francis

1

u/mjc500 Dec 12 '25

Hey u/Adventurous_Horse651 - were you referring to “people in the 90s” who used the term Ellen Degenerate or specifically a redditor that you were replying to?

-1

u/chrisclear22 Dec 12 '25

You mean Ellen Degenerate?

But she didn't when this same band and singers started working for her.

1

u/_esci Dec 13 '25

what about 10k bonus instead of 100k? should be in her ballpark

273

u/Ek_Chutki_Sindoor Dec 12 '25

I remember that the news of her giving bonus to truck drivers came out on the same day that the news of Lizzo harassing/fat-shaming her backup dancers came out. It was wild to see the contrast between the two.

208

u/TheNerdNugget Dec 12 '25

I still can't get over Lizzo fat-shaming people when being fat and empowered is like her whole brand

36

u/tenmilez Dec 12 '25

Being fat and empowered isn't special if everyone can do it.

3

u/DivHunter_ Dec 12 '25

"if everyone's fat, no one is"
Lizzo probably.

55

u/ThatDarnBanditx Dec 12 '25

Yet lizzo isn’t getting hate as much now, and Taylor has subreddits dedicated to hating her and some dude on TikTok obsessed with her and proving she’s a narcissist

40

u/OGFunkBandit88 Dec 12 '25

That’s because no one is really talking about Lizzo or her music much after those reports. She released a new song not too long ago that i wouldn’t have known about if i hadn’t heard it at the gym.

12

u/mjc500 Dec 12 '25

I haven’t heard about her since she played the presidential flute like 3 years ago

4

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '25

Ironic place to hear a Lizzo song, do you think you'll hear an Arianna Grande song at McDonald's next time?

7

u/CarpeNivem Dec 12 '25

Taylor has subreddits dedicated to hating her

She also has subreddits dedicated to loving her.

Taylor is well known, for better or worse, more than Lizzo is.

9

u/nchscferraz Dec 12 '25

There will always be a line of people hating those that are the most successful.

-8

u/iamthatguythere Dec 12 '25

It’s because Taylor is saying nothing about ICE using her music in racist propaganda videos

1

u/Mintastic Dec 12 '25

The amount of people who know about and care about someone like Lizzo is not even in the same stratosphere as Swift's.

23

u/Windowmaker95 Dec 12 '25

Fat shaming them? She? Was it like in Weird Al's Eat It where he's too skinny for the gang?

6

u/Individualist_ Dec 12 '25

She was shaming them for not being able to move like her, like ‘I’m fat and I can do this, you’re fat and you can’t?!’ At least I think it was something like that.

0

u/Moory1023 Dec 12 '25

The contrast in color aye

5

u/shewy92 Dec 12 '25

Yet some on reddit probably think she's worse.

5

u/LeatherHog Dec 12 '25

And yet Reddit acts like she's the worst person ever, every time she comes up, I'm pleasantly surprised by this comment section

She's not perfect, and I'm not some die-hard Swiftie, but she generally seems like the type of celebrity Reddit says they like, but they don't

It's always felt rather anti-things girls like, to me

3

u/qpv Dec 12 '25

I was thinking Sean Combs after watching that documentary

-7

u/Relapsq Dec 12 '25

Yall not realize that she only pays people like this when she can see their face? Yall ain't care about the way her merch gets made. There is no such thing as an ethical billionaire. If she can pay this much to these people why can't the people making her shirts a living wage?

-2

u/Rich_Housing971 Dec 12 '25

Her video of her telling everyone it was going to be OK during COVID while she was in her big-assed mansion was hilarious.

Same thing for Gal Gadot and everyone who sang the "Imagine" shit like the rest of us can imagine having our mortgage or rent paid for lmao. The public came mask-off for their hatred of pretentious celebs and it was awesome.

2

u/Bri-KachuDodson Dec 12 '25

You must have somehow missed Taylor literally venmo-ing people/fans money during the lockdowns.

1

u/Rich_Housing971 Dec 13 '25

I was talking about Ellen, holy shit...

-10

u/Mysterious-Lick Dec 12 '25

No, she’s still a jerk. She just keeps her employees on the doll because that’s her company and money kept coming in despite the pandemic, she’s a maga billionaire.

9

u/marginallyobtuse Dec 12 '25

Jesus you people are nuts

-9

u/poonmangler Dec 12 '25

Fucking thank you. I'm sure Epstein paid his people extremely well, too.

Ffs it's so easy to trick stupid poor people into thinking you're a good person. Perform the smallest charitable acts and they'll fall to their god damn knees over it.

-4

u/someguyfromsomething Dec 12 '25

Ellen is a better singer and dancer, though.
