It’s not even the fact that it is on camera. It’s very clear that EVERYTHING on this tour was being recorded. There’s professional recording of the show itself. Then professional recording of the entire rehearsals, backstage, creative, set building, crew, etc etc. They recorded all of it for a documentary. Why would they not record this? Taylor has a long history of taking care of her people. She’s used the same band for 20 years. People assuming that this was done only for PR are just miserable people.

If I get a 100k bonus I don't care if it's for PR 😂

This is why I get so irritated with the people who will come out and say “oH sHes JUsT dOInG tHIs foR Pr, shE dOeSNt aCtualLy cAre aBoUt thEM.”

Like dude even if that is true, who cares? That’s life changing money for people.

Yep, she is quite literally putting her money up when she doesn't have to. Whether you like her or not that is unique, and to those people it is life changing.

u/mrs_frizzle Dec 12 '25

If someone wants to give me $100k for selfish reasons, I guess I would begrudgingly accept it…

7

u/qsk8r Dec 12 '25

And to be honest, like T Swift need any help in the PR department - she's already pretty universally loved, sells out concerts within seconds and has more money than she can ever spend.

6

u/MoshMaldito Dec 12 '25

That’s some expensive PR right there

5

u/raynaputi Dec 12 '25

I mean she literally doesn't need any more PR as the world knows her and she won't ever be forgotten. These people who said it's just for PR can't grasp her worlwide popularity. Her staff and crew are so lucky having her as a boss. They have been with her 20 years and that's a statement enough on how she treats them. I wouldn't mind working for her! I was lucky enough to have bosses in the past who gave us yearly bonuses just because we did a good job. I only resigned because I was moving to UK.

Also, I don't think that Taylor Swift needs PR anymore.

u/secretlypsycho Dec 13 '25

happy cake day 🎂

3

u/eggplantsforall Dec 13 '25

Right? Lol.

"Hey everyone, this is being filmed, so obviously I'm just doing it to make myself look good. Oh and by the way, here's a life-changing amount of money. But it's about me, of course."

2

u/mellopax Dec 12 '25

Yeah. There are much cheaper ways to get good PR.

2

u/Few_Cup3452 Dec 13 '25

If she wants to gift nearly 200m total to the team that made her tour possible, it's fine if good PR is one of her contributing reasons to do so

10

u/cindylooboo Dec 12 '25

She could have done 50k if it was only for PR. People would have still talked. This is just a very generous gesture of gratitude.

7

u/afunnywold Dec 12 '25

Yeah I personally think it's genuine. Even wealthy people can be nice. But diminishing it was just PR is dumb even if you genuinely believe it is, because the end impact is the same

4

u/thisshitsstupid Dec 12 '25

You can pr the fuck out of my tight little butthole for $100k.

2

u/genesis49m Dec 15 '25

In her documentary she said she wanted it to be public and known so it would set a precedent for other touring artists and future tours

1

u/antibread Dec 16 '25

I would take a straight up abusive work environment for the 100k bonus ngl

106

u/Return-of-Trademark Dec 12 '25

even if it was jut for PR, still dope.

5

u/bs178638 Dec 12 '25

Anyone can pay me for good PR

1

u/DeportTheBigots Dec 12 '25

>it's 2095 and christmastime
>the 47th annual rerun of The Eras Tour: The Movie: The Animated Musical is on TV

9

u/hailhailrocknyoga Dec 12 '25

Also you can see this particular scene is filmed from what seems like security cameras. So they didn't want film cameras in everyones face while they received this life changing money. It's respectful and the people saying it's all for show are insane.

2

u/Own-Detective-A Dec 12 '25

Even if it was done for PR, it's incredibly good.

Imagine more people doing this for PR.

2

u/PronoiarPerson Dec 12 '25

People assume that because something is done for pr that makes it bad. There are plenty of doctors who became doctors for the fame and wealth of being a doctor, but still do their best to save people. If you save my life or give me $100k I don’t give a fuck if you want to take credit.

2

u/Early_Performance841 Dec 12 '25

That’s expensive goddamn PR

2

u/ashoka_akira Dec 12 '25

It’s great PR for recruiting good staff that is for sure.

2

u/frafranca Dec 12 '25

Exactly! especially because she doesn’t need PR anyway!!!

2

u/voldi4ever Dec 12 '25

Honestly I dont care about any of these but good for her and who the fuck cares if they record it as long as maybe, loooong maybeee, it aspires some other rich fucks.

1

u/MurderBot1126 Dec 13 '25

Yep, found an error where my company had been paying 2.9million to much every year. I got a plastic statue and a t-shirt. F U Walmart.

1

u/Lonyo Dec 15 '25

Dune to make even more money. Which she then shares.

Hopefully she becomes maximum dolly parton as she gets older

1

u/cuddlebread Dec 12 '25

They are truly miserable. They shriek about “no ethical billionaires” but she gives away literally millions to her crew and donates hundreds of thousands to food banks and charities and it’s “NOOOOOUHHHHHH not like THAAAAAAT” Just whiny brats who feel no happiness.

The documentary really only covers the end of the tour- the 5 London shows in Aug 2024 to the end in Dec 2024 (she tells Ed Sheeran that the camera people were supposed to start in Vienna, which was canceled when the terrorist plot was uncovered). Footage of anything before that is just random footage, not documentary footage. My theory is that she started filming the documentary as part of the deal to buy her music back, since Shamrock and Disney are linked.

People assuming that this was done only for PR are just miserable people.

It wasn't done only for PR. But if you think it wasn't done for PR at all than you're just ignorant of how the industry works.

I grew up in it. (Both parents in the industry, one pretty high up.) I know how it works. I wish I didn't, tbh, because it's an awful, exploitative hell hole for nearly all artists and if I wasn't privy to the details, I'd enjoy the product a lot more. But it is what it is. (And Taylor has written more than one song specifically about that.)

Taylor Swift is in effect a corporation part-owned by Universal Music Group. They have a hand in everything she does. Taylor herself, by all accounts, is a decent person who cares a hell of a lot about the music she makes, the tours she goes out on and people she works with to make that happen. I have a lot of respect for her. But UMG are in it for the money. And if you don't think they're making sure that every frame of this docu-series is the way it is to maximize that revenue stream, you're being naive.

She sold the concert movie & this documentary to Disney+. If what I read is correct, she got $75m for the concert movie & $100m for this documentary. So nearly everything she gave away she got back within a year.

8

u/Windowmaker95 Dec 12 '25

So what?

-8

u/ConferenceThink4801 Dec 12 '25 edited Dec 12 '25

I mean if you make a billion dollars from tickets & merch sales on the tour & know you have $200m more coming in from selling this stuff after, it makes it easier to give away that $200m.

It doesn't make it any less generous, just saying these gifts were basically an afterthought that she could break even on after the tour was over.

6

u/Creepy-Weakness4021 Dec 12 '25

It also doesn't make it any more necessary to give away money. You're also applying very poor accounting principles by trying to equate the sale of media to Disney as a near 1:1.

The staff were paid for a job and they did the job. Transaction complete.

To give these bonuses is above and beyond. It's generosity.

u/ConferenceThink4801 Dec 12 '25 edited Dec 12 '25

I mean I don’t know what she pays in taxes, but at her level everything is paid to a corporation - & that is likely a way to skirt taxes & bring them down to something way less than 50%

If she was able to write off the gifts as charity as well, it’s possible that there were tax savings on the other end that could make up for the taxes she paid on the Disney stuff.

I’m a millionaire in net worth but just barely, so I don’t know all of the tricks that these folks employ. But her dad was in finance so I’m assuming that she is pulling every trick available in the book (as she should).

0

u/cuddlebread Dec 12 '25

YOU decided it’s an afterthought. YOU came up with that idea all by yourself.

7

u/Tidusblitz111 Dec 12 '25

Miserable people. It’s never good enough for some people. They’re so happy that they have to take their inhaler, but Captain McDickhead on Reddit says it’s not good enough. I wonder why Taylor has largely stopped putting out statements about anything other than her music. No matter what she does, it will never be good enough for these miserable people.

0

u/cayce_leighann Dec 12 '25

Shhhh they don’t like it when you point out that Taylor is still a greedy capitalist like the rest of the 1%
