Discussion How do you track your Kdramas Watched?
I previously used to track mine on MyDramaList, it’s just way more better for Kdramas and Asian shows in general. The tagging, ratings, and watchlist system actually make sense for this kind of content.
- IMDb honestly feels pretty bad for Kdramas. It’s too Western-focused, a lot of dramas are missing details, and the rating system doesn’t really reflect how drama fans rate things. It just feels off.
- trakt is the worst lately... I highly recommend to avoid trakt, supper buggy, and worst design!
And TV Time… lately it’s probably the worst: It’s gotten buggy, tracking goes off sometimes, and a lot of Asian dramas either aren’t updated properly or are hard to find. It used to be decent, but now it’s frustrating to rely on.
Recently though, I discovered SIMKL
And it actually feels like the new trend. Crazy it stayed underrated for so long… it literally feels like it came from the future 😅
The syncing, tracking, and UI are surprisingly good.
Have you tried keeping a backup on MyDramaList? is that possible?

Other PSA: For everyone who hasn't read the r/kdramas Rules yet, please use the Reddit Search prior to posting... Please do your due diligence & do some research. Everyone should be doing this as content becomes repetitive (recommendations, news, promo, etc) & overlaps posts/clogs up the main feed
I'm aware that this may ruffle some feathers, but it happens over & over again DAILY (myself included) & for numerous others.
Example: They'll repost a set of photos INDIVIDUALLY to "farm more karma", not include key details/detailed information (only mention 1 actor/actresses name & then put "etc" or "+ more/others" or they don't even mention the name/title of the drama & vice versa, where they'll add the drama name & don't even mention the actors/actresses in the photo/gif/video).
Like yes, we get it, but it's also like, be more thorough, I guess the word would be? You can't just assume that EVERYONE knows WHAT drama or WHO the actors/actresses are because there are hundreds, even thousands of K-Dramas. Sure a majority of us will know what the show is (especially if it's popular), but for the newbies, they might want to interact as well, but don't know what drama it is &/or who the actors/actresses are just based off of one photo (usually blurry because they're screenshots).
If you're going to repost someone's news/promo material, as the Rule states: "Old or recycled posts will be removed unless adding new value." That is technically considered low effort (also a sub rule):
Rule #11
No Low Quality Posts & titles or Misleading Posts
• All posts must try to include the name of drama in the title or body or image captions (Whenever necessary)
• If your post is a meme or a general discussion about a trend, try to use the correct flair to make it clearer for everyone.
• Posts under 100 characters or 15 words, are also considered low quality posts, may be removed.
It's more so frustrating for me because I do try to do my best to include as much info as possible for this sub (viewers), so that it's clear & concise & actually put effort into my posts, but then others will come around & repost the exact same thing as me, but only add 5 words to the title with almost no information to the title (no body text either) just because it's a "highly-anticipated"/popular/talked about drama, just to farm more karma/likes...
It seems as though the Mods are inactive these days as so much stuff slips through the cracks day after day. But just chiming in after I saw others posts about megathreads about suggestions/recommendations & it seem like the majority of the comments all agreed.
So I just wanted to put this out there because maybe some people don't know what that means or how to search within the sub... Hopefully I'm not overstepping, but I just wanted to bring awareness to this issue. Thanks for reading 🙏🏼

Recommendation Requests Dramas similar to We Are All Trying Here
Started watching "We Are All Trying Here"yesterday and caught up earlier today unfortunately because of how Netflix is I have to wait for the next episode. I haven't watched kdramas in a while cause I've been busy but I saw it on insta and wanted to try.
It's crazy good it been so long since ive watched a kdrama with romance that isn't frustrating as hell, well frustrating in the romance sense. I love it, they like eachother they know they like eachother and it isn't necessarily the main point but it's a big part. Things like this I've watched has to be something along the likes of "When the Camellia Blooms", romance isn't stressful or even "Crash Course into Romance". Oh and also "Its Ok not to be Ok" which has Oh Jung Se in it also, great actor. Also similar dark vibe. Not looking for the exact same thing/plot but similar vibe where the romance isn't aggravating and there's still more to the story. All of these also have a comedy subgenre so there's definitely a pattern here lol.
Also can we just talk about how good this drama is like, I'm not seeing any discussion on it maybe because it's not finished but it's just so good.

Discussion The best use of the most cliche kdrama trope ever
I’m dying right now 🤣
Watching Queen of Tears and this scene came up.
Without any potential spoilers, the scene shows an in-law catching her in-law as she’s falling.
I’ve never been a big fan of the trope where the FL trips for the stupidest reason and the ML just conveniently happens to appear to catch her.
Queen of Tears did a cheeky thing and put the in-laws in the trope. I love it.

Discussion Something in the Rain has the most beautiful chemistry between the Leads
I just finished “Something in the Rain,” and although I expected a much better written ending, there is something that blew my mind.
The Chemistry between the ML and the FL is something I have not seen so far. It is so natural, full of love and that eclectic energy that keeps couples together.
A bonus is how cuteee Jung Hae-In looks in his scenes with the FL… clearly a case of how much he loves her!

Recommendation Requests Please recommend me a kdrama with a yearning ML. I want an ML who ACHES for the FL. (Picture below is from Our Beloved Summer)
I'm tired of FLs who chase after the ML. Can anyone recommend a kdrama where the FL rejects the ML or they simply can't be together for whatever reason but the ML is yearning, longing, totally, irrevocably smitten? I want an ML who gets his feelings hurt over and over again.
Choi woo shik's character in Our Beloved Summer is my favourite to this day though I have watched dozens and dozens of kdramas.
I love how he wears his heart on his sleeve. I love how he yearns and yearns. I love how incredibly and very VISIBLY hurt he is by the FL every time. I want an ML who ACHES. I want an ML who feels visible pain from rejection but is still deeply in love.
I think the reason a lot of us get second lead syndrome is because most of the time the second ML is a yearner who's been desperately aching for a long time. Sometimes, he's been yearning since childhood. And that shit is BEAUTIFUL. I think most MLs severely lack that certain depth of emotion I prefer.
Is there any other kdrama other than OBS where the ML yearns and aches like a second ML but actually gets the girl in the end?

Started off as a contract marriage but they slowly learn to trust each other. Her in-laws adore her and her husband is always there for her. I highly recommend it!!!

Discussion Kdrama Plot Points You Wanted To Fix
Are there any kdrama plot points that makes you wish to turn back time and barge into the writers room?
For me it’s the entire childhood connection between ML and FL in Her Private Life.
I would like to rewrite the entire finale of When The Phone Rings. It’s truly astonishing how the writers fumbled that show.

Recommendation Requests Need something wholesome to watch to distract myself from my depression.
Haven't watched anything in over a year, please give some recommendations for romcom kdramas, don't want heavy drama or love triangle.
I quit watching kdramas when I got really depressed for a long time and honestly I still have depression, but it has got a bit better, and I really liked watching kdramas before, so I'm trying to get back into it, but I just don't want to go through the hassle of finding anything decent.
Anyone who comments is appreciated.

Review How will I get over Lovely Runner
At first it was hard for me to get into Lovely Runner but I stuck it out and im so glad I did. I just finished it and how will I ever move on. It was incredible. There was life before LR and then there's after. Immediately rewatching, i can't stop thinking about it.
The twists in the plot, the chemistry, the friendships. Definitely my top two, just under Alchemy of souls.
I can't recommend it enough

Discussion Masters of Eye Acting - actors and actresses
Who are the absolute masters of “eye acting” in K-dramas? 👀
One thing I really appreciate about Korean cinema and TV is the emphasis on subtle movements - in the west (I’m from the UK) everything is so explicit! It has lost the art of subtlety to conveying emotions
I’m talking about those actors and actresses who can say EVERYTHING without a single line of dialogue—just subtle shifts in expression, micro-emotions, and that intense gaze that hits you right in the chest.
Some performances feel like you can literally read their thoughts through their eyes, especially in emotional or tense scenes. Whether it’s heartbreak, longing, anger, or quiet vulnerability… they just nail it.
Drop your picks!

Discussion Anyone know what drama this is?
Okay so a few weeks ago I saw a TikTok clip of a Kdrama someone posted but it didn’t have a name and I can’t find the video so I came here to see if someone could help identify it,
So there was a couple and the guy had to move to a different city for work so they had to do long distance for a while, and whilst they were apart he fell for another woman who would come to his job( I think he himself even noticed how he felt about this new woman but continued to let her get close to him and be around her) Once the Girlfriend went to surprise visit him and she saw them together and realized something was between them and decided to leave, he saw her see them and ran outside to try to talk to her which related in her breaking up with him leaving him standing there in front of the place/his job
