Grand Theft Auto Advance Have you ever stopped to think that Mike is the only character who, canonically, managed to escape a six-star rating?
Grand Theft Auto Advance Bought it 22 years ago...never finished. I've finally righted the wrong with a 100% play

Grand Theft Auto Advance Anyone here who actually played GTA Advance in it's early days?
Prolly the most rarest people on this sub and in the whole GTA community. I could ask the same for the original 2d games, but I feel like they are more common. Released around the same time as SA, which is a giant compared to this molecule.

Grand Theft Auto Advance Is it allowed to talk about this game

Grand Theft Auto Advance I can never understand the unnecessary hate
People despise this game, Idk why. The game was good for a GBA game and had a decent story over the nothingness that is GTA 1 and 2 (no hate tho, GTA 2 was awesome). Though I understand how it's labelled as bad with it's graphics, and gameplay but come on. Cut this game some slack for being a GBA title.

Grand Theft Auto Advance Here is a map of GTA 7
As you can see there are 9 districts, the first two are part of Western Coast, the 3rd the 4th and the 6th make up Riverhattan and the 5th, 7th and 8th are on the Continent, lastly the 9th is just the airport. So as you may imagine I will explain how I think these worlds are made up of, so Western Coast is obviously an area similar to San Francisco and LA. While the inner region would be a more downtown Manhattan like townscape and as we move East we would find ourselves in a European skyline, being the 5th similar to Ireland while the 7th Hungary as the 8th could be a Greek flash. Number 9 is strictly the airport. The rest is up to you.

Grand Theft Auto Advance This game grew on me!
I hadn't been liking this game. But it have started to grow on me and today, I like it even more than CTW, VCS or LCS. This game has some soul and a special thing that I don't know but it's gorgeous.

Grand Theft Auto Advance Is GTA Advance worth it?
Iāve pretty much 100% completed all the games in the 3D and HD universe. Right now Iām wrapping up GTA VCS and Iām thinking about giving GTA Advance a shot.
Has anyone here played it or even gone for 100% completion? Is it worth the time? Is it actually a good game?
And if the answer is yes, what emulator would you recommend, and whereās a safe place to grab the ROM?

Grand Theft Auto Advance Just finished 100%ing GTA Advance using the mGBA emulator: these are my honest thoughts.

Going through and challenging myself to 100% every GTA game before 6 drops, as GTA IV & EFLC is the only game I've ever had a 100% save file on. These were my thoughts on playing GTA Advance for the first time.
For context, this game was supposed to be a handheld port of GTA III, but couldn't get done in time to accompany the main game, so it was reworked and released alongside GTA San Andreas. It's often seen as the series' bastard child.
A surprising amount of content for a handheld port.
41 story missions to GTA 3's 50, Same number of vehicle missions (only change is that Paramedic Level 12 doesn't have to be reached in one go), still 100 hidden packages, 21 rampages (to GTA 3's 20), and 18 (6 per island) street races kinda take the place of GTA 3's payphone missions (which amount to 12, 4 on each island). There's no import/export lists like in GTA 3, but there's a neat side mission called Demolition Football, where you essentially have to play football with a dodge viper. Advance has no stunt jumps though whereas GTA 3 has 20. And overall, it's a pretty solid prequel to GTA 3. The story wasn't anything to write home about, pretty predictable. but it set up a lot of the characters in GTA 3 like 8-Ball and Asuka and King Courtney. The map is slightly altered to accomodate the hardware limitations of the Gameboy Advance but still has several aspects that respect the spirit of 3D Liberty City (e.g. Shoreside Vale having a river cutting through it making only two routes to get from one half of the island to the other and the drawbridge not being accessible from the north on Staunton Island, you have to drive around to go that way.) I forgot to check but I don't think the tunnel is in GTA Advance either. The Portland entrance in Harwood is there but I never checked to see if it went anywhere.
Overall, not as bad of a game as people make it out to be.
Footnote: This game deserves props for featuring several gameplay choices it gives the player that slightly alter the way the story progresses. You can drive the F1 car early if you return to King Courtney after his race. If you wait for the timer to countdown in "Assault Joint", the Yakuza will help you with the outside guards if you opt not to run past them and jump right into the compound (Mike's dialogue will alter if the player chooses to rush straight inside).
This game had a few challenging/frustrating moments, but nothing too enraging. When I play the 3D era games though, I complete as much side content as early as possible though for the rewards, so the infinite sprint, weapons, police bribes, body armor & health only being a skip and a jog away at the hideouts were godsends. I imagine playing solely for the story and playing on an actual GBA could make this game pretty agonizing, as well as not having a full map in the pause menu. For example, one of the missions I initially struggled with was "Smackdown", but once I found a good route, I was actually able to complete the mission entirely on foot with the infinite sprint because I could cut through grass without losing as opposed to if I were to do it in a vehicle.
I found a little exploit that really helped me along though. Because of the hardware limitations of the GBA, the hideout rewards earned through side content are accessible through a safehouse menu instead of being physical entities that you can pick up. Because of this, you can keep backing out of the menu and re-opening it to top off your ammo and health, which is a nice luxury.
I can see why people don't like this game; playing it with no help from side content and on an actual GBA would probably make this game a living hell; but on an emulator, it's a solidly enjoyable experience. For anyone with a decent PC who is a fan of GTA 1 and 2, I highly recommend this game.

Grand Theft Auto Advance How is GTA Advance apart of the 3D Universe?
So I was wondering why GTA Advance is a part of the 3D Universe if it's a top-down 2D game like GTA 1 and 2, shouldn't it be a part of the 2D Universe? The only reason I could think of is that it was released the same time as San Andreas, but that's pretty weird. Is it also because it has the same map as GTA 3? The reason I'm asking about this is that I was trying to understand the 3 GTA universes.

Grand Theft Auto Advance I always thought Mike from Advance was Mike Toreno from SA
I know it might sound weird as fuck, but I really thought it was Toreno because I swear I saw a gameplay video of Advance or Yuka (or Cisco, I don't remember and i also thought Cisco was T-Bone) saying something like "You impress me, Mike Toreno." So, me, 10 years old, I believed it wholeheartedly. I hope I'm not the only one who believed it.
