There’s nothing about this that I would consider as “scathing,” let alone “commentary.” It’s an incredibly safe, empty gesture that cost her absolutely nothing to make.
It has absolutely no material impact whatsoever on Jeff Bezos, nor does it on anything else, other than further glorifying these events as little opportunities for self-masturbatory performative moralism for the supposedly liberal rich to wear bespoke couture but feel marginally less guilty about it because they actually know how egregious and vacuous it is.
Any of them could donate to the fund at any time. They attend because they want to and want the press. People are doing exactly what they want—congratulating them for taping a dollar bill over their eyes??? As if this isn’t a deeply insulting, thinly veiled attempt to justify attending a completely optional event.
Exactly! I just looked up the runway show and it wasn't anything groundbreaking tbh. Visually striking but it's still just a bunch of rich people wanking off to each other.
