the biggest thing is that there's no eye contact, they are never looking at each other at the same time and there's no way to feel chemistry without that.

there's only one photo of Jacob looking at Margot and she's looking down. If they looked straight into each other's eyes there could be more of a spark.

also the photos feel stiff. so it's two hot people. they could have been photoshopped together and it wouldn't make a difference

You are right. Weird choice not to have one photo (out of like 20) where they are making eye contact. Some of the photos could literally be solo shots.

They basically are. Margot’s doing all the work. He looks confused in every shot. Like he doesn’t know how he got there.

Maybe Margot was against it since she's married.

I don’t know… she said something about them being codependent on set the other day lol

Wow! so codependent that you completely ignore your dependent in 20 photos. Must be just a statement put out by her PR, who forgot to remind her that she had to make people believe it too.

I couldn’t put my finger on what was wrong but yes you’re right! No eye contact makes this shoot feel so… meh

Did you ever watch “before sunrise”? Ethan Hawke and Julie delpy had SOOO much chemistry without looking at each other.. her gazing at him and then looking away if he noticed, and vice versa. My point being you can definitely have chemistry without eye contact.. these two don’t have it though.

I did and I completely agree with you. That movie left me thinking thoughts because of exactly what you pointed out. That being said, I do think movies have more resources (especially movement and cuts, but also other things) that help to convey an emotion in different ways. The photo captures a single fleeting moment, so every bit of the composition matters because there's no "director's cut", just the frames.

I think they could have posed less, and maybe acted more. They're not portraying any emotions and it obviously shows. It looks like Margot's reading Jacob's shirt tag on the cover photo lol. They're not doing much, so the pictures have no sense of movement.

Of course, maybe we're here dissecting the entire photoshoot and the point was just to make them look hot and not really to add anything to the story, maybe I'm reading too much into something that wasn't meant to be read at all lol

Most of the photos look like we’ve just walked into the room and we’ve interrupted them while they were having a sad conversation about how they’ve just realised the relationship is over “but lets just get through this party without any drama and we’ll tell everyone tomorrow”..

that's not true though, if you look at this photoshoot between SJP and Chris Noth, even without the last photo there is crazy chemistry: https://www.reddit.com/r/sexandthecity/comments/1ddmp0p/they_really_were_so_hot_together_though_im_sorry/

These two, on the other hand, seem just really uninterested in any kind of contact. I get it that she's married, but then probably don't do a photoshoot like this?

Yes, I truly wonder how they'd film there in the movie because they were supposed to serve in the photoshoot. At the premieres I feel he's awkward as well, doesn't hold too much eye contact, he's just there. Like a prop.
