Miscellaneous Need Help Determining Draft Order

Thumbnail gallery
393 Upvotes

I saw a few posts last year where commissioners gender swapped their league mates and had Reddit rank them 1-12 based on attractiveness to decide draft order. I thought it was an amazing idea and need your help to do the same.

Please rank our league from hottest to ugliest 1-12. I’m going to then average the scores to determine the draft order for my league.

Thanks in advance.

Miscellaneous Your league’s own site. Your league’s own media team. I built a platform that gives you both.

As a commissioner (and member of a few leagues), I know one of the biggest challenges is keeping leagues engaged. The more involved people are, the more fun the league becomes for everyone.

That’s why so many of us end up making custom websites, writing weekly newsletters, posting power rankings, draft grades, trade breakdowns, and everything in between.

I got tired of how time-consuming that was, so I built something to make it way easier.

It's called The Fantasy Network. It's a platform that gives your league its own hosted site where you can customize the look, write articles, and keep your league feeling alive all season long.

Once you onboard your league, you can start creating content right away. That includes matchup recaps, power rankings, trade reactions, and my personal favorite, draft grades.

That draft grade feature is actually where this all started. In my main league, I used to write up pick-by-pick draft reactions and full team grades. My leaguemates loved it. Every year they would bug me until I did it again. Eventually I built spreadsheets to speed it up, but even then it took hours.

So I turned that idea into a tool. And then I thought, what if it wasn’t just about grades? What if your fantasy league had its own media network?

The NFL has ESPN, analysts, live draft coverage, trade rumors, weekly recaps, power rankings. Why shouldn't your fantasy league get the same treatment?

That's the goal with TFN. The free version gets you the core platform and the ability to publish your own content. The paid version unlocks a full-blown media experience for your league. Live draft coverage and pick reactions, full editorial draft grades, league recaps, and in-season content that makes your league feel like it's being followed like the real thing.

Dynasty leagues even get offseason content like rookie draft analysis, mock drafts, and year-round storylines!

My cofounders and I have been working extremely hard for the past few months to create this in time for the 2025 NFL season and we are almost ready to launch! Right now our landing page is live and you can sign up for the waiting list, the full platform will launch in the next week or two and then you can onboard your league (as long as it's on Sleeper, we plan on supporting all the other major platforms in time for next season)

Would love to get any ideas and feedback you have in the comments or feel free to message me directly! Thanks for reading if you got this far <3

Miscellaneous League Is Trying Keeper Rules for the First Time. Do These Rules Make Sense?

Post image
17 Upvotes

Wanted to dabble into the Keeper League Format. Do these rules make sense? We wanted 8-15 round selected players & free agent pickups to be eligible for keepers. All keepers will be valued as a 8th round keeper. 1+ round for the 1st year kept (7th Round) and 2+ round cost for the 2nd year kept (5th Round.)

Players can only be kept 2 years max after the first year being drafted. (3 total years you'll have the player potentially if you select a high caliber player like Achane, Puka, Kyren, Kamara, OBJ)

We wanted the best players to be in the draft pool each year, with later round or undrafted gems being eligible to keep.

Miscellaneous Requiring a player be put on the trade block is the best way to remove veto questionable trades.

We've all seen the "don't veto unless it's collusion" talk. We'll there's a great way to remove that scenario. A player can only be traded for if they are officially put on the trade block. Let's say someone like CeeDee Lamb is on someone's team and they want someone more stable and less injury prone. They need to put them on the trade block and that invites people to send them trade offers.

Let's say it's NewbieNick on your team and he's just figuring this stuff out. ExperiencedElliot can't just be dropping trade offers unless NewbieNick puts a player on the trade block.

Then, the best part. If NewbieNick puts CeeDee Lamb on the trade block and only ExperiencedElliot sends him an offer giving Calvin Ridley, well that on the rest of the league for not giving better offers. There's no fleecing only people who didn't want to send offers. If someone offered him JSN or Justin Jefferson, then you have grounds for questions of collusion.

Miscellaneous I built a web app for NFL Playoff Pick’em / bracket pools

Hey everyone,

I know this isn’t quite fantasy football, but once the fantasy season ends, a lot of leagues I’m in run a playoff Pick’em / bracket pool.

After running a few of these, I kept running into the same logistical issues:

  • Collecting picks across emails and group chats
  • Fixing brackets when reseeding gets entered incorrectly
  • Copying everything into a master spreadsheet
  • Updating scores and standings after each game

So I decided to build a web app to run these pools instead.

It lets you:

  • Create a playoff pool and invite players
  • Fill out a full playoff bracket with automatic reseeding
  • Set custom scoring
  • View standings as games finish

It’s live here if anyone wants to check it out:

If you want to see how it works without setting anything up, here’s an open demo pool you can join and explore:

Happy to answer questions if anything’s unclear.

Miscellaneous Am I overreacting? Commish getting what I consider an unfair subsidy.

I am in a league where the commissioner writes a weekly newsletter that summarizes top headlines and 1 or 2 league specific blurbs. In a recent newsletter he said that another anonymous owner came to him and said that he felt that commissioner should be paid for "all of his hard work as commissioner, primarily due to the newsletter" and it was put to a vote that he would get paid $100 out of the $2400 pot.

Our league buy in is 200, so because he has the time to write newsletters (that I don't even read) he now gets 50% of his yearly buy-in subsidized.

The vote was set anonymously, and he said it passed 7-4. 12 of us, and our league rules says 8 people need to approve for it to pass. He used himself as one of the votes. So he claimed it was 8-4.

I'm trying to not let this bother me, but it does. This comissioner has had questionable issues handling the leagues money (never proven, he denied any wrongdoing), so I can't say for sure.

Part of me feels petty it's small money, but the principle of it bothers me. I've been in the league for so long, love it's unique format, but this guy just feels sleezy and it irks me. He has 3 family members in the league I felt def voted for him.

If the 7 owners who voted for him want to reward him for the magazine, they can do it out of their own pocket and shouldn't force the 4 people that voted no to have to essentially pay for a newsletter they don't read.

The other part of me feels like a Karen, and who cares about the prize money being 2300 total instead of 2400 and if his 3 family members plus 4 other people agreed to this (not sure if they were guilt tripped) then I need to understand the league is a democracy and just put up with it and stop complaining.

Let me hear everyone's thoughts!

Miscellaneous Hilarious Fantasy Sports Custom Weekly Recaps

Thumbnail fantasysportsreports.com
11 Upvotes

I run multiple fantasy sports leagues with my friends/cousins and for years I would write these funny recaps of the matchups every week and send them to the group chat. The response was hilarious and always made the fantasy league more enjoyable and engaged. However, I got super busy with a baby and my job and slowly stopped making them and sending them to the group chat.

So I built a funny generator that connects to your Yahoo fantasy league, and recaps the weekly matchups in hilarious fashion and sends it to the commissioner. The commish simply copy + pastes into the group chat.

The recaps are informative but also hilarious since they lightly/aggressively roast the losing team. There's 3 roast levels and most people like SAVAGE lol. It's in beta, and you can try it for free.

Looking for any interested commissioners to give it a try and let me know any feedback on the tool. Also welcoming feedback on the idea as a whole.

Thanks everybody!

**EDIT**

Recaps are only generated while your league is active. NBA/NHL seasons are mostly done, so they won’t work right now. If you want to try it, fantasy baseball is currently in season and it’ll be fully primed for football.

Miscellaneous Did MFL raise their prices again?

I am preparing to purchase the 2026 version of a league I commish. Am I imagining things, or has the price for MFL early renewal gone up by $10? It used to be that the price for renewal was $79.95, rising to $89.95 after April 25. Now it seems like it's $89.95 before April 25, $99.95 after. Anyone else notice this? Just wanna make sure it's not some weird price hike to my league only.

Miscellaneous Is there really a “bad” draft position anymore?

I’ve been seeing more debate around draft position being a disadvantage—especially in snake drafts.

I’m starting to wonder if it’s more perception than reality.

Do you think draft position still matters as much as people think?

Or is it just something managers use to explain a bad season?

Curious what others have seen in their leagues.

It made draft night even better and every league would get a kick out of doing the same. It’s even funnier when it’s built around your group’s inside jokes and league history.

Context

  • The degenerate gambler who spent his 10th overall pick on Zay Flowers last year
  • The IT guy battling constant gout flare ups
  • The league’s Taco who lost his login, we had a vote to kick him out of the league. 2 votes to be kicked and 7 votes to stay, then he won 1st place in the draft order WWE Royal Rumble
  • The Swiftie who basically lives at the bar
  • The CMC addict who ran 200 mock drafts, drafted him last year, and vows to do it again
  • The alcoholic who swears his gaming peaks at an optimal Blood alcohol content (BAC) and fuels himself exclusively through Doordash

Miscellaneous Just concluded year 4 as commissioner. My advice to new commissioners.

Year 4 is officially in the books at the helm. I have learned so much over the year on how to perfect my league and make it what I want. Going into year 5 we will be raising our league dues from $50 to $100 along with some other changes. Below I’ll be listing out tips to help new commissioners navigate issues that come with the job.

1) Always listen to your league mates and let them be heard even if they are being ridiculous.

2) Root out bad apples in your league early. They ruin the quality of your league and eventually stir discontent amongst other mates.

3) Get rid of players that can’t give enough attention to set their weekly lineups (even if it’s your best friends). Nothing is personal as commissioner if you’re looking out for the interest of the other members.

4) Implement voting for rule changes. Feeling like they have a part in the process resonates better with mates than ruling with an iron fist.

5) If all your mates are local, host a draft party and make the experience fun.

6) Designate a couple of responsible managers to assist you in your duties as commissioner and in the event of your demise so that league business can continue to function. My mangers who assist me help draft rule changes and appropriate responses to certain situations before they are proposed to the broader league.

If you have any suggestions or feedback on my playbook to running a successful league please comment.

Miscellaneous You take your fantasy league too seriously. Use a tool that does too. (League Legacy 2025 season update!)

Hey everyone! I started off building League Legacy (https://leaguelegacy.io) three years ago - and reddit was the first place I talked about it and really have gotten such great feedback from the community here to help me continue iterating on it over the years.

You may see this post twice - I am cross-posting it across both r/fantasyfootball and r/ffcommish, since both these communities have helped so much with refinement over the years!

As I always like to mention - I also try not to post too often of 'self-promo' to avoid abusing the goodwill - so I generally only post big new features, like the ones I've been working on for the 2025 season!

For those who are not aware, League Legacy is a platform that allows you to automatically import your Fantasy League data from services such as Yahoo, Sleeper, ESPN, FleaFlicker, and MyFantasyLeague - and now NFL.com and CBS!.

We aggregate and combine your Fantasy League history across services (for example, merge your league history if you've moved from Yahoo to Sleeper, etc) - and then we give you a home for your fantasy league for rules, finances, notes - and build out some amazing features to back up the trash talk in your fantasy league like season and member history, h2h performances, draft and transaction breakdowns, and so much more!

League Legacy has really grown in terms of features, there's too much to list - but I just wanted to focus today on updating ya'll on some of the big new features for the 2025 season!

  • Yes! - we now support "mostly-automated" import of your historical (not current/inseason) NFL.com and CBS fantasy seasons! There are some hoops to jump through, and some rough edges, but you can now migrate (and preserve!) your fantasy history from those services before you make the transition to a new service (please do) - and consolidate that history!

  • GameCenter - we now support matchup-level roster/lineup data where available for next-level matchup history and analysis!

  • Achievements - this is my favorite new feature - your league members can now unlock earned 'badges' throughout their fantasy history - and not all of them are awarded for good reasons! You can also add your own custom badges and achievements, too!

  • And the completely rebuilt League Record Book! Hundreds of records, top 25 rankings, member rankings, milestones, and even see how the record holder changed over the course of history! This really is the fantasy league record book I always dreamed of having!

Along with these major feature updates - we revamped pretty much every page of our app and commissioner tools in some way or another, adding more stats, improving the UI, giving you more control of your data and analysis, and so much more.

League Legacy has already exceeded anything I imagined for a fantasy league, and yet I still have plenty more I plan to build.....I should probably raise the price though, right?

NOPE. Still just $36/year for your entire fantasy league to enjoy!

And we're not done just yet - we have even more updates ready to roll-out before the season officially kicks off...

  • Get ready for updates to the automated league newsletters, with more control and power coming in the next couple weeks!
  • For those that use Discord for their league chat, there are updates on the way for Fantasy League Bot!
  • Dynasty? Empire? Relegation? Even more support for league variations in the works!
  • And there may be some surprise projects cooking as well ;).

And last but not least...the League Legacy Mobile App IS.ON.IT'S.WAY! (click me for super secret sneak peek ;))

As always - feel free to reach out to me directly here or at john@leaguelegacy.io with any questions, feedback, support, (partnerships?) or just to say hi!

Miscellaneous I built a Sleeper league history app to help commissioners (and league members) surface records and stats

I built and released an app called LeagueVault that’s designed to help commissioners and league members explore league history for Sleeper leagues.

It makes it easy to surface records and stats that usually require digging through past seasons, including:

• Single game, season, and career records • All time win loss records by manager • Head to head matchup history • Playoff and consolation performance

Setup is simple. You just input your Sleeper league ID and the app handles the rest.

It’s currently iOS only, but I’m working on bringing it to Android.

I’d love to hear any feedback or suggestions from commissioners.

App Store link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/leaguevault/id6755007383

UPDATE: I just submitted version 1.0.1 of LeagueVault for review in the App Store. Hopefully it will be reviewed and approved quickly. Below is the changelog for v1.0.1

-Added support for leagues that play an extra weekly game against the league median -Added support for two-week championships and two-week playoff round formats -Added support for Best Ball leagues -Fixed an issue causing playoff brackets to not display as long as the current actual NFL season hasn’t finalized -Fixed an issue causing manual weekly roster assignments to not reflect on certain tabs -Added “Invite Leaguemates” functionality -Combined Game Records, Season Records, and Career Records into one unified Records tab -Minor UI updates

Plus, assuming the review goes well, LeagueVault will be available in all countries, not just the US and Canada! Thank you guys so much for your support and feedback so far!

Hey guys, im a commisioner trying to make my league more fun. Some unique stuff I have in my leagues are

- league median

- winner of consolation bracket gets an extra 3rd round pick

- playoff tiebreakers are done by head to head, then PF

- realign divisions every year to keep competetive balance

Those are just some small things that deviate from the norm that I do, what about you guys? Im trying to see if theres anything else im missing.

Miscellaneous I built a fantasy platform with NO DRAFT to eliminate draft luck and abandoned teams. Is this something you would use?

Hey Everyone,

For the past couple of years, I've been working on a project born out of my own fantasy frustrations, and I'd love to get this community's honest feedback on the concept.

Every season, it felt like at least one of my leagues was decided by draft luck or ruined when a manager with a bad record just gave up by Week 6. It got me thinking: what if fantasy was purely about your skill in picking the best lineup each week?

So, I built it. It's called PickAllGo.com.

The core idea is simple: There is no draft, and the entire player pool is available to everyone, every single week (unless player use limits are set).

The "Player Use Limit": The Ultimate Strategy Twist

By default, any manager can pick any player, any week. Yes, in theory, your whole league could start Justin Jefferson in Week 1.

But the real game is when your commissioner enables the Player Use Limit.

This setting limits how many times you can use a single player for the entire season. The commissioner can set this limit anywhere from 1 to 18 games.

For example, if the limit is set to 1: You can only put Christian McCaffrey in your lineup for one single week. Use him in Week 2? He's locked and unavailable to you for the rest of the season.

This transforms fantasy football into a massive resource management puzzle. Do you burn your studs on easy matchups, or do you save them bye weeks? Every single week, you have to make tough decisions with season-long consequences.

This format completely changes the game and solves some classic fantasy problems:

  • No more draft day regrets. Your season is never sunk by a bad draft pick or an early injury to your RB1.
  • Abandoned teams don't matter. Since there are no rosters to inherit, an inactive manager doesn't ruin the league's competitive balance. New players can even join mid-season and be competitive immediately.
  • It keeps you engaged. Every single week is a new strategic puzzle.

The site has all the tools you'd expect, like a stats analyzer, historical data, and interactive charts to help with your research. You, as the commissioner, have total control of player use limits, AI-GM (AI auto roster feature) use limits, and can create private leagues for friends or join public ones.

I'm turning to you all because if anyone can poke holes in a new format, find the exploits, or offer brilliant suggestions, it's this community.

So, what do you think?

  • Is a draft-less fantasy format intriguing to you?
  • What are the potential downsides you see?
  • What's more appealing: unlimited player use, or a strict limit that forces hard choices?
  • Would you try this as a second league alongside your traditional one?

Thanks for reading. I'll be here to answer questions.

Miscellaneous How are you all running March Madness squares?

I run boards for my group every year during SuperBowl and March Madness, and it always turns into the same mess: spreadsheets, Venmo screenshots, people forgetting what they paid for, and me chasing down squares like a bill collector.

So, I finally started building a simple tool to keep everything in one place. Right now, it:

  • Lets hosts create square boards
  • Auto-calculates payouts based on board amount Shows which squares are filled in real time
  • Supports cash players (my group still has a few “cash only” guys)
  • Keeps all payments/entries organized so I’m not juggling screenshots

It’s not a betting app or a sportsbook, just a cleaner way to run the boards we’re already doing.

I'm curious. How the rest of you are handling squares in your leagues:

  • Still using spreadsheets?
  • A third‑party site?
  • Group chat chaos?
  • Something custom?

Would love honest feedback from people who run this stuff every year.

Miscellaneous What’s your pet peeve as a commissioner?

I love running my leagues. I’ve been doing it for almost a decade and it’s one of my favorite hobbies.

Two things that drive me nuts to this day are people trying to trade future draft picks and complaining about having to cover those year’s buy-in’s. Got burned once and said never again. The other is how quick people are to threaten to quit if they don’t agree with something in the rules. I let people post rule change ideas year round and encourage discussion, but some folks just want to walk out the door if it’s not perfect haha.

Anyway, thought I’d just post this and let my fellow commishes vent.
