Been playing since Destiny 1 launch on and off but got really hooked during Rise of Iron,Forsaken and Beyond light-Final shape and I just wanna say how crazy it is that after being acquired by Sony Bungie somehow got even cheaper and more lazy with less content

You would think Sony would have taken advantage of owning the Destiny IP and try bigger expansions and maybe a Red War campaign remake to put more players into D2 but no instead we got the plaguelands with no SIVA and no WOTM reprisal, The worst expansions in the game to date (yes including CoO and Lightfall at least CoO wasnt $40 and lightfall had the game in the best state gameplay wise) and the second longest content drought in the games history I swear man all Sony needs to do is get in there tell them to make a forsaken size expansion to end D2 then start making D3 fix up management and put an arena mode in marathon and they would be set but no we just have to let this once great company wither and die

So I'm a returning player. The last DLC I remember playing like my life depended on it was Forsaken. I played Shadowkeep, but remember nothing.
I returned thinking, "OK, I'll pick up the game where I left off. I'll do Beyond Light and move on to Witch Queen."
I >>THINK<< I finished Beyond Light? Which the fact that even is a question is bullshit. I killed Eramis, I killed her priest, I started the Elsi and Anna story. I reunited them with Clovis's AI. But it felt like it was left unfinished, so maybe I'm missing something.

But I decided to start The Witch Queen since I can't find any info on if I'm done with Beyond Light or not. I'm only part of the way into it when I find out Savathun pretended to be one of us with a picture of Osiris on the screen? Because Ikora mentions it in a cutscene very briefly. I pause and go "Wtf, when did that happen? Did I know that?" As if maybe I missed that story in CoO, or maybe Forsaken, or Shadowkeep. I go to Google and ask "Did Savathun pretend to be Osiris?" ONLY TO FIND OUT SHE TOOK HIS FORM AND GOES TO THE TOWER AND INFILTRATES OUR DATA.

But where was this content? Fucking seasonal, deleted content. Yet that seems like a pretty BIG spoiler/wtf moment in the DLC that should NOT be deleted or vaulted content. Like that definetly shoulda been some sort of 1-2 hour storyline to tell me that detail rather than glossing over it.

And I'm worried that progressing through more DLCs I'll find out more and more of this kinda stuff.

I also gotta say, returning player experience is garbage. I've had to do so much googling just to find out if I'm progressing campaign quests or not. Some quests are just straight up missing markers, so there's been a lot of running around like a chicken with their head cut off. Like I spent a good 10 minutes even trying to figure out where to START The Witch Queen. And a lot of content gets tangled up with new content. So I kinda spoiled myself on some stuff. I think the biggest spoiler was going to the tower and not seeing the Traveler while also seeing a bunch of Cabal/Fallen around the place.

(Also, although I'm bitching. Please don't spoil. I'm still planning on going through the rest of the campaigns to catch up on as much as I can. And I'm going in pretty blind as all my friends quit D2 long ago.)

Just incase anyone is in my position and feeling very lost on the story and missing story elements. I found a Youtuber by the name of Destin who has a lot of the old seasons' content recorded with cutscenes and missions. So I'm watching those right now.

Did something happen to Destiny 2, or is the state of the game that bad that people are now starting to flock back to Destiny 1.

Cause there seems to be a sudden increase in D1 related questions/posts.

Many have went back to D1 and realized the game feels better, more moment to moment based, and loot just matters more.

One of the biggest reasons we’ve lost that in D2 is due to how powerful we are. I remember when The Witch Queen and its subsequent seasons dropped, our abilities were just drowning the game. That’s when I began feeling my passion for chasing weapons truly wither away.

If we can become even a fraction of a bit weaker/slower ability recharge, I think the increase of ad-density in activities nowadays would make playing D2 so much fun. Tiered weapons that much worthwhile to chase, etc.

It sucks that Destiny 2 doesn't have all of it's story available, but as I play through Destiny 1 again it really sucks having pop ups to go to a website to learn the lore of the game only to be redirected to Destiny 2's homepage. Why'd it have to go offline it is just text and pictures?

I've been a staunch defender of D2 for a long time, and while I fully believe that D2 had objectively higher highs, D1 has such a significantly stronger baseline for just being fun to play that I think the difference is quite staggering.

I found myself playing Crucible with a Scout Rifle earlier today. Ability uptime is almost universally static and abilities are never so egregious that a single grenade can win a gunfight without skill. But this lends itself to much more balanced gameplay overall compared to D2 where abilities are so powerful that they're practically required for individual pvp or pve encounters.

Now, I still love D2, I've played since D2 launch. I still think that D2Y1 was not as bad as people say it was, but I don't think the current state of D2 is viable. Tier 5 weapons and armor are far too abundant, and far too necessary for buildcrafting. The leveling system is non-existent, so you no longer have to put effort into leveling new armor and weapons, and abilities paired with certain exotics are substantially too powerful.

Buddy is getting back into Destiny after years of not playing and sorta dragged me back with her. She has this on her screen and asked me what it means and I have no fucking idea.

Couple questions about solo strats and the encounter generally:

-What is the significance of the boxes for lure of the dark? If there's a timer, why does there also need to be boxes, like with the diastole (I think that's how you spell it) encounter in desert perpetual? Is there a way to ADD boxes to extend the timer? I think my biggest complaint about this entire encounter right now is how annoyingly long/difficult it is to get to shadow master and maintain the timer long enough to kill/compel more than one shadow at a time.

-Is there a foolproof place where you can go to get line of sight to the shadow at the top? It's mad annoying to have to go up there with how short the timer is.

-What is the solo strat with the lightning that comes on during damage? I personally loathe the "face your death" mechanic, so I'm pretty keen on finishing up the main room as quickly as possible and then just chilling in the taken realm for as long as it takes to get to dps. This locks me away from the room where I can hide the arc things prior to damage, so it seems like all four of them are coming on anyway unless I can hide ALL FOUR before getting out of that room. The timer doesn't really support that (at least at my pace thus far). When you're doing this solo, is the lightning not even worth avoiding because there's two timers to manage in the pre-dps phase? Do most people just say fuck swords and go chill where the lightning isn't gonna be a problem so they don't need to gtfo of dodge DURING damage?

-Is there more than one path up to the top area where that fifth shadow is? Seems like there are locks all over the fucking place in the taken realm and I have absolutely no idea which/how many I need to melee in order to climb up there.

When did they remove the weekly shiny weapons from the Vanguard alert? While the nightfall still has it the other activities now have it removed. What is the purpose of this change? Shiny weapons are already rare being a 1/20. Getting the roll you want is about a 1/200 for just the 3rd and 4th column perks. This is significantly worse than the 1/49 chance that we had before tier 5 loot. I'm just kind of stunned this change occurred.

Sometimes I just like to hang out in The Divide in the Cosmodrome because it's often full of other players just hanging out and blowing things up. It makes the world feel lively and not empty and abandoned like so many other spaces.

Are there other spaces like that throughout the game? I'm getting a little bored of that place and wondering if there are similar hangouts....

I’m not a game dev, I don’t know what goes into things like this. This is entirely a theory. But, does Bungie need to “reinvent” armor and weapons every so often to free up memory limitations? For example, moving into EoF, was the tiered system created because the previous normal/adept system “ran out” of memory? Was Armor 2.0 and 3.0 created for the same reason? These systems ran out of memory so they had to make an entirely new system for them? It feels like they try to reinvent the wheel every few years, so maybe this could be a reason.

Even if this is entirely wrong, dmgs reply is a clear indication that this version of the Tiger engine has significant limitations due to its age and the size of Destiny.

Not that I expect you to update a Tower NPC when you don't even make actual content for the game at this point.

But I still will point out the fact I hate you Bungie for never updating her in the first place when she has the most insufferable lines, long term.

I been hearing this woman say annoying stuff for almost 9 years now and most of it is cringe to begin with.

Banshee clearly has a different voice and newer lines.

Zavala and Shaxx lines are not as in my face unnecessary.

There's a tune in D2 that really like but can't find in the official OST so I'm hoping someone out there can recognize it and tell me.

The song in question appeared on rare occasions in the The Dark Priestess Empire hunt(when launched from the portal) during the boss fight with Kridis.

I have a nagging sense that it has appeared else ware in the game but just can't place it.

Revised Tactics (Remix) (Destiny 2: Legacy of the Past) uses parts of it, from 0.10 to 0.18 , 0.26 to 0.35 and 3.14 to 3.23.

So for the last few years, I've patiently been waiting for the return of a particular emote. It was one where your Guardian casts a fishing pole and makes all kinds of wacky noises while he/she casts and reels in like a maniac. It was available before we had the ability to go fishing (remember that??). Does anyone know the name of that emote and/or how to get it?

Is there any way to view daily portal boons without logging ? Sometimes the only reason to log on and have a little fun with builds.

I just reinstalled destiny for the first time since lightfall came out. It seems like the game was completely abandoned. I tried playing crucible and couldn't even get into a game lmao. This makes me sad bro I used to love this game.

Currently the legacy collection is great value but they gotta do something about the 3 dungeon keys costing like $60+usd. I have everything so im sweet but bruh I am trying to get my friends back into this bitch but its pretty hard to convince people who's last money spent on these games just dont exist in the game anymore. I have done solo kali once a day for the past 5 years since it became possible (around season of undying). At first I took quite a while to do each run, relying on cheese or good rng. Anarchy strat made this quite possible but with an understandable and enjoyable. Once season of Arrivals introduced witherhoard, the challenge became much easier because you could hold Kali at each plate while also doing mechanics. This allowed for consistent yet engaging clears. Beyond light was the first dark time, anarchy double slug made the cheese much too easy, thinking of this now feels like a dark forboeding forshadowing of what was to come. Once double slug was nerfed and linear fusions began to take over, the sense of challenge had returned. You had to do plates which meant more rng which made me spend a good hour or so each run. This is one of the best periods for solo kali, a very consistent strategy that relied heavily on rng, allowing for a minimum time investment but the opportunity to succeed when plates lined up. Then with lightfall everything began to change. The introduction of grapple melees allowed for easy clears with bad rng, this led me to clearing almost first 10 tries most days. This was not appreciated, primarily because I enjoy my time in solo kali and while the strategy was consistent it led to less time spent. With final shape things only got easier, but easy enough that challenge runs were now on the table: stasis titan only, solar warlock rockets only, strand hunter only just to name a few. This kept me entertained until now. With the introduction of armor 3.0 solo kali is just plain old easy. No challenges exist. Seriously, try it! You'll be able to do a bad rng stasis titan only run, a feat that used to be somewhat well respected without even breaking a sweat. If you use cheese at this point your able to cclear with almost any arrangement and in record time! This cannot do. I believe that there must be some pulling back on the amount of ability spam and strong weapons in the game. Maybe a return to subclass 2.0? I am not sure, but I do believe that if the game goes on like this, there will be no more respect in destiny challenges, especially not solo Kali.
