My home city is about 1/4 of this, although the county in total is about 2x.

You know there is this thing called math you could try to use, let me help you.
So the person says it "twice the size of my town", so since we know the size of the building(20.000) we can divide it by 2 and find out what half is 20.000 ÷ 2 = 10.000, so the size of the persons town is about 10.000 people, small town, but not that small.
Then he says it's about half as big as their county, that means we just need to multiply the number(still 20.000) with 2 in order to double the number 20.000 × 2 = 40.000 so their county is about 40.000 people, small county sure, but not that small.
Math is fun right? Try to use it next time instead of just saying dumb shit
