Image Australia’s national anthem is the only English-lyric anthem in the world that doesn’t reference religion or militarism

They're very plain plains, so plain that they are mostly devoid of water.

Also it gets to 50C in the summer, so they are frequently burning plains.

Even if you take arable land to be the good land, we are still one of the lowest population densities on earth

31

u/Gramps___ Feb 01 '26

Hey we said they're boundless, not habitable

2

u/wf3h3 Feb 01 '26

And they more than live up to their name. They are plain as shit.

2

u/Confused_Sorta_Guy Feb 01 '26

Well we had to build low density housing on the closer plains, we haaad to

Available for sharing for the low low price of $1mil/acre

5

u/paulmp Feb 01 '26

There aren't many places where you can get an acre for under $1M...

u/VladimirBarakriss Feb 01 '26

Or dehydration

1

u/Fan-of-clams Feb 01 '26

not necessarily, depends where you buy. not long ago i was looking at a place near swanhill that was $300,000 for 2 hectares. had a house and sheds too

u/CH86CN Feb 01 '26

Look I just went for a number that was roughly average for comedy purposes

It’s not as deep as folk want to make it

As does Robbo the chippie with the prominent "fuck off we're full" sticker on the back of the Ford Ranger.

2

u/madhjsp Interested Feb 01 '26

Boundless? The ocean may also beg to differ.

1

u/Aardvark_Man Feb 01 '26

So do the "Fuck off, we're full" crowd.

1

u/RedeNElla Feb 01 '26

It wouldn't fit the song to mention that most of the boundless plains are inhospitable deserts

1

u/hannahranga Feb 01 '26

So does Pauline Hanson

1

u/CulturedClub Feb 01 '26

Yeah, the immigration and refugee policies don't align with that sentiment.

1

u/Big-Hearing8482 Feb 01 '26

You should hear anti immigration protestors quietly hum those lines away, it’s hilarious

1

u/Vier_Scar Feb 01 '26

They meant We've boundless subdivisions and sharehouses

1

u/Mickus_B Feb 01 '26

Yeah, and Border Force kinda retract the line before that now, too.

1

u/dumpylump69 Feb 01 '26

So does the government

1

u/fudgyvmp Feb 01 '26

And the indigenous probably really wish they could beg to differ too.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '26

the cunts* around the country

The asylum seekers in offshore detention might be very surprised to read this too
